"Mom, is Uncle unhappy?"

Hendric had changed into his pajamas and was about to sleep in his own small bed, but when he saw Wayne come back in a sour mood, he asked Coralie.

"Even you can tell?" Coralie tapped Hendric's little nose and said, "Go to bed. I'll ask what's going on with your uncle."

"Okay."

Hendric nodded obediently and went to bed with a Transformer in his arms.

Wayne went into the room, stayed for a while, and then went to take a bath.

Coralie was waiting in the living room. When Wayne came out of the bathroom, she called him, "Wayne, why don't we have a chat?"

"Hey."

Wayne wasn't in the mood to talk, but he still went over when Coralie asked for him.

"What happened? Do you want to tell me about it?"

Coralie placed the freshly heated milk in front of Wayne.

"Coralie, it turns out that Jamie has a boyfriend. I was too caught up with my own assumptions that I thought she didn't have a boyfriend." After Wayne finished, he couldn't help complaining, "It's also because of my own foolishness. I didn't see her mentioning it on her social media, so I just assumed that she didn't have a boyfriend."

"Are you sure that's her boyfriend?"

Coralie asked curiously.

After what happened to Skylar, Coralie realized that sometimes what was visible to the eyes might not be everything, so she had to confirm it with Wayne.

"I guess so? I saw the man give her flowers."

Wayne took a sip of the milk. The forced smile had finally slipped off his face and it was replaced with a disappointed expression.

"Why don't you ask her?" Coralie asked.

"Ask her?" Wayne asked again.

"Absolutely. Are you naive? You need to fight for your love, you can't rely on others." Coralie patted Wayne's head. "If he is her boyfriend, you can just give up. However, what if he isn't? What if he is also just one of Jamie's pursuers?"

The reason why Coralie persuaded Wayne was not to encourage him to win Jamie over, but to clear things up.

"But..." Wayne said.

"There's no but." Coralie looked at Wayne and told him about herself. "Back then, when I brought Hendric back to see the doctor, I had no intention to disturb Skylar. First, I didn't know how to face him, and second, I saw Sabella and Skylar everywhere. Everyone said that they were a couple."

"And then?"

Wayne asked.

In the past, Coralie had never told Wayne about her relationship with Skylar. Wayne and Hera had only picked up on the dysfunction in their relationship from some details.

"Then I hid from him. I didn't want to get involved in his life but he chased after me and explained to me that he had nothing to do with Sabella."

The thing that Coralie was most grateful for was how Skylar showed up that day in the hospital.

"Is that so?"

Up until that point, Wayne didn't know the history of how Coralie and Skylar got together.

"It sure is," Coralie said firmly.

"Then I guess I'll ask her," Wayne said.

"Yeah," Coralie affirmed Wayne again.

Wayne finished the milk and returned to the room.

He wanted to ask Jamie, but before that, he clicked into Jamie's social media page out of habit and found that the latest blog had just been posted.

It was a photo of a bouquet of roses, paired with a heart emoji.

In the comment section, Jamie's friends left messages one after another.

"Congratulations!"

"You're in a relationship? I can't believe it!"

"Jamie, there's finally a man who's willing to take you in!"

These implications seemed to indicate that Jamie had gotten a boyfriend today.

Wayne put the phone down again.

He looked at the dazzling roses on the computer screen and mocked himself, "I just had to be a second too late."

Wayne opened the comment and left two words using his account, "Congratulations, Jamie!"

However, after he typed the two words, he hesitated for a long time before sending them.

Later, he kept refreshing her page and found that Jamie replied to everyone's messages except his. It was as if she couldn't see it.

In Wayne's view, at that moment when he commented the two words, he could only put away his feelings for Jamie in his heart.

On Wednesday, before it was the time to get off work, Coralie suddenly received a message from Skylar which contained only two words, "Come downstairs."

Coralie looked at the time. There were still five minutes left to get off work, so she did not reply to it. When she got off work, she immediately grabbed her bag and went out. When she arrived at the gate, a black car was waiting.

Jayson was standing by the car. When he saw Coralie coming, he opened the door for her immediately.

Coralie knew that Skylar was inside.

She walked all the way to the car. As expected, Skylar was sitting in a wheelchair in the car. When he saw Coralie coming in, he immediately reached out to embrace her. "Why did you come?" Coralie asked.

"I missed you. I couldn't wait for the weekend."

Skylar said with a smile. He held Coralie's hand and said to the driver, "Let's go to the restaurant."

"Where do you intend to stay today?" Coralie asked.

"Where do you want me to stay?" Skylar asked.

Coralie's original intention was to ask Skylar if he wanted to return to the rehabilitation center tonight. The man's subtle suggestion made her realize that she seemed to have expressed her question in the wrong way, so she immediately rectified her question. "Are you going back to the mountain today?"

"Nah, I'm staying in the Golden Town."

Skylar replied.

Skylar and Coralie had once stayed in the Golden Town mansion together. Ever since Coralie's accident, Skylar had never stayed there again. It wasn't until this week that Skylar finally had someone clean it up.

"Oh, I see," Coralie said.

"Can you stay with me?"

Seeing that Coralie showed no reaction to it, Skylar asked directly.

He and Coralie were more like a boyfriend and a girlfriend who were at the budding stage of their relationship. Living together sounded weird to them at the moment.

"Sure," Coralie nodded. "But Hendric said that he missed you. When are you going to see him?"

"Why not today? I'll ask Jayson to pick him up," Skylar said.

"Is that all right? Then your leg..."

Coralie was a little surprised. She thought that Skylar did not want Hendric to know about his current state.

"What if my leg never recovers? Do you think I'll never see my son?"

Skylar held Coralie's hand tightly in his palm.

Coralie and Hendric were the most precious treasures in his life. No matter how he changed in the future, Coralie and Hendric would remain unchanged to him.

"You will pull through," Coralie said.

"Yeah. I will."

Skylar came to the city center today because he had felt a slight sensation in his toes during yesterday's training. He was amazed by the improvement, and even the doctor said that it was a good omen. As long as his senses were recovering, things would only get better.

Skylar booked the entire restaurant. After they arrived at the restaurant, Jayson went to pick Hendric up.

Hendric arrived not too long after that. He was wearing a neat suit, and as soon as he saw Skylar, he dashed toward him happily. "Dad, I miss you!"

After saying this, he found that Skylar was sitting in a wheelchair. He asked, "Dad, what's wrong with your leg?"

"I'm injured."

Skylar replied simply.

"I see." Hendric looked at Skylar's legs and said like a little adult, "Then won't you be able to protect Mom in the future? It doesn't matter. I'm also a man so I can also protect Mom."
