You Complete Me novel (Skylar and Coralie) -
Chapter 316
"Miss Chariott."
After the call was connected, Queenie was able to recognize her because she had saved her number in her phone.
"Auntie Holland, are you able to get in touch with Jamie? My brother said that he hasn't been able to contact Jamie for the past two days. He's worried that something might have happened to Jamie." Until then, Coralie still hadn't veered her thought into the worst of situations. She didn't think that Jamie's disappearance had anything to do with her family.
"Jamie is at home."
When Queenie heard Coralie ask about Jamie, she answered it nonchalantly. It seemed that Coralie's worries were unnecessary.
When Queenie said that Jamie was at home, Coralie exhaled deeply and replied, "Thank God. I was worried something might have happened to her."
Queenie heard that Coralie was so nervous about Jamie, so she smiled and said, "Miss Chariott, since you've called me first, please tell your brother to not contact Jamie before he decides to break up with her. Jamie is not allowed to step out of the house before she breaks up with him."
"I don't understand."
"Miss Chariott, didn't I make myself clear enough?"
Queenie said.
Only then did Coralie realize that Wayne's concerns were actually true.
Queenie had actually grounded Jamie and locked her in the house.
"Auntie Holland, I think this kind of thing..." Coralie pleaded.
"Miss Chariott, it may not be a big deal to cancel an engagement for a poor family like yours. However, in a family like ours, this is the most significant of all. Don't contact me until your brother decided on it." After saying that, Queenie hung up the phone pointedly.
Coralie was stunned while she heard the 'beep' sound on the other side of the phone.
She was still laughing at Wayne for thinking too much yesterday.
She thought that it was impossible for Jamie's mother to resort to such a thing, but now it seemed that she was the one who was being too naive.
"Dear, are you all fine?"
Skylar suddenly knocked on the door from outside and asked.
"I'm alright. I'm coming out right now," she replied.
Coralie knew that she had been in the bathroom for too long and it caused Skylar to worry.
She quickly opened the door and came out.
Skylar was in front of the door. He had actually heard the conversation between Coralie and Queenie through the door. However, he did not reveal it. Instead, he asked her, "What's wrong? Who were you calling?"
"Well, I just called Jamie's mother."
Coralie did not intend to hide anything from Skylar.
In fact, the reason for Jamie to be grounded by her family couldn't be deflected from her and Wayne.
"What did she say?"
Skylar could see that Coralie's face was plastered with worry. He knew that something must have happened.
He was Queenie's nephew.
Thus, he knew his aunt well, and of course, he understood Jamie too.
"Jamie was grounded by her family."
Coralie came clean to Skylar. She said in a very remorseful tone, "It's all Wayne's fault. He's such a slowpoke!"
"Queenie said that the engagement has been set in stone and the cancellation of the marriage will affect their reputation." "Let me call her,"
Skylar said.
With Skylar's status, if he was willing to back Wayne and Jamie up, Queenie and Jamie's father would definitely concede to him no matter what.
Coralie saw Skylar pick up the phone and was about to make a call. She quickly snatched his phone and said, "Forget it. Leave this matter to Wayne. If he always needs someone to help him with his own happiness, then he'd better not chase after Jamie anymore."
What's more, Coralie knew that if Wayne got together with Jamie, his future would be no less difficult than it was now.
He couldn't always run to Skylar for help, could he?
"Okay, it's up to you."
Skylar knew how stubborn Coralie was. She would never ask anyone for help with what she could do herself. Skylar also understood why she was unwilling to cut Wayne some slack.
Coralie called Wayne in the living room and told him what Queenie had said.
Then, she let him decide for himself.
"Coralie, can I go to the Holland family? I'll go to the Holland family and tell Jamie right now, I don't care what it takes!"
Wayne was full of confidence. He understood Jamie's mother, but he didn't want to give her up.
"Make your own decision. Last time, it was Skylar who helped you to meet up with Jamie."
"You can't always ask for others to help you."
Coralie felt that men should bear their own responsibilities. Although she supported Wayne, he still had to shoulder the responsibility on his own.
"Knock! Knock! Knock!"
"Skylar! Open the door!"
"Knock! Knock! Knock!"
"Are you there, Skylar?"
Just as Coralie was talking to Wayne, there was a rapid knock at the door, followed by a girl's voice.
Coralie and Skylar immediately recognized that it was Jamie at the door.
Coralie dashed to open the door. When she opened the door, she saw Jamie standing outside the door. Her long-sleeved shirt and jeans were torn by glass shards. One of her legs was even injured and she couldn't stand properly...
"Jamie, what's wrong with you?" Coralie exclaimed.
"Nothing, I just broke out of my house."
As soon as Jamie saw Coralie opening the door, she immediately barged into the house and turned to close the door.
"Coralie, what's wrong? Is Jamie with you?"
On the other side of the phone, Wayne also heard Jamie's voice and asked agitatedly.
"Yes, why don't you come over?"
Coralie looked at Jamie and could already figure out how she managed to get here.
"Ahhhh, my feet hurt like hell!"
After saying that, Jamie hopped to the sofa in the living room and rested her injured leg brazenly on the tea table.
"Ask Wayne to head to Harvey's hospital. We'll go there now."
Skylar suddenly spoke.
"Huh? No way! My mother's people are looking for me everywhere!"
As soon as Jamie heard that they were going to send her to hospital, she instantly turned them down.
"If you're here, your mother can replace you within five minutes."
Skylar looked at the leg that Jamie had placed on the tea table. Her ankle was swollen, and it was obvious that she had been badly injured.
"But it's very dangerous for us to go out now!" Jamie said.
"With your leg's injury, if you don't go to the hospital immediately, you'll probably end up sitting in a wheelchair like me in the future. I'll give this wheelchair to you when I have recovered." Skylar was trying to intimidate Jamie, but it was obvious that Jamie had jumped down from the second floor and ran off, exacerbating her leg injury.
"No! Skylar, I'll go, I'll go!"
Jamie was scared out of her wits.
In front of the door was the multi-purpose vehicle that Skylar usually used. He called the driver over and they soon arrived at Harvey's hospital.
When they arrived at the hospital, Wayne was already there.
As soon as he saw Jamie get out of the car and was injured, he immediately walked up to her and said, "Come on, let me carry you on my back."
"I'm fine!"
While Jamie was still refusing, Wayne had already bent down with his back facing her.
"Come on," he insisted.
"Let him carry you. He wasn't able to contact you for the past two days. He's been worried sick," Coralie persuaded.
After hearing Coralie's words, Jamie reluctantly put her hands on Wayne's back and let him carry her into the hospital.
Harvey had already arranged the doctor for Jamie, and he was waiting for her there.
After they went upstairs, he gave Jamie an X-ray scan. When the result came out, Harvey glanced at it and said, "Your deltoid ligament is damaged and you'll need a splint. You can't get out of bed for at least three weeks."
