"Is it a boy or a girl?"

The thought suddenly came to Marvin. As he hadn't seen the child, he didn't even know whether Lucille had given birth to a son or daughter.

"It's a ..."

"Well, no matter if it's a boy or girl, I'll love the child."

Marvin saw that Lucille hesitated to speak on second thought. He seemed to have guessed that the child was a girl; he immediately gave her the assurance that he would love the child no matter the gender. "Well, it's a girl..."

Lucille nodded.

Hearing that, Alma couldn't hide the disappointment on her face. She complained sarcastically, "Look at your sunken face. I have always known that you wouldn't be able to give birth to a son. See, it's true!" Previously, Alma thought that if Lucille had given birth to a son and if the child really belonged to Franklin, she had to pretend to be kind and get a tidy sum from the Moore family.

The problem was that Lucille had given birth to a daughter. Even if she was Franklin's child, the Moore family would not accept a daughter.

"That's enough. There's no difference if Lucille has a son or a daughter. Didn't we do quite well with our own two daughters?" Marvin retorted.

"You two should leave..."

Lucille mumbled again.

She was estimating the time. It only took around one hour for the baby's daily bath. If Marvin and Alma remained there, the nurse might bring Aurora back soon. Marvin was fine, he could stay, but if Alma saw that the child had a cleft lip, she would definitely spread the news to Natasha and Franklin.

"Let's go. Your daughter wants you to leave. Why are you still here?"

Alma had long wanted to leave. Lucille kept pestering them to go so it was the perfect excuse for her to leave.

However, Marvin was reluctant. "Since we're already here, why don't we wait and see the child first?"

He was getting on in years. Thus, he was keen to see his little granddaughter.

"No, don't. Newborn children are wrinkly and funny-looking. You can see her in the future." Lucille was afraid that he would stay and wait.

"Let's go! Are you leaving? If you don't want to leave, I'll be going ahead of you first!" Alma had no interest in the child. If it wasn't for Marvin, she wouldn't have come.

"Well, take care of yourself. Where do you live now? I'll visit you when you get discharged."

Marvin thought to himself that Lucille probably did not want Alma to see the child.

"I'll keep in touch."

"Alright."

As Lucille insisted on it, Marvin had to take his leave, together with Alma.

However, just as the two of them walked to the door, they saw a nurse pushing a baby cot into the room.

There was a baby wrapped in a pink quilt on the small bed. As it was a private ward, the baby being pushed into the ward had to be Lucille's child.

As soon as the nurse came over, Marvin and Alma scuttled into the ward.

"This is..."

"Ah! It's so ugly! Why is there a big hole on her face?" Alma shouted.

Marvin could not finish what he was about to say. He was frozen. When Alma saw the child, however, she did not hesitate to mercilessly reveal her thoughts! All her mannerisms were exaggerated.

At the side, the nurse hissed disgustedly when she saw Alma's reaction. "How could you criticize a child like that?"

"Did I say anything wrong?" Alma turned to look at Lucille. "No wonder you didn't want us to see the child. It turns out that you gave birth to a deformed child!"

"Wah! Wah!"

"Aurora!" Lucille called out.

Aurora, who had been a quiet and obedient child so far, seemed to understand Alma's words and burst into tears.

Lucille quickly got out of bed, cradled Aurora, and rebuked Alma angrily. "She's my child. I didn't ask you to come and see her, nor did I invite you to visit me, so please leave!"

She could endure being criticized herself, but not if the criticism was directed towards her child.

"Hah! You've indeed given birth to a monster child. Do you think I want to look at her? I'm afraid that I'll have nightmares at night!"

Alma's lip curled in disgust; she was about to leave the ward.

However, when Lucille heard her speaking about her daughter that way, she trembled with anger. She put Aurora back in the baby cot and reached out to strangle Alma! "What are you doing?!" Alma shrieked.

"Shut up, you shut up! How could you say such things about my child? You're an evil woman!"

"Ah! She's crazy! She's crazy!"

Alma yelled loudly. Lucille did not loosen her grip; she kept applying pressure on her neck.

The nurse and Marvin rushed over. They wanted to separate them, but they soon realized that Lucille was immensely strong although she had just given birth.

"Ahem! Ahem!"

Alma was suffocated at Lucille's hands. After a few seconds, she could not even spit out a word. Her face had gone completely red.

However, Lucille did not intend to let go at all. The words 'deformed child' kept lingering in her mind, dissolving any rationality she had.

Finally, Marvin managed to pry Lucille's fingers one after the other off Alma's neck.

"Ah." Alma took a deep breath and came back to her senses after a long pause. She raised her head to glare at Lucille, who was separated from her by several nurses, and shouted, "She's crazy! She gave birth to a deformed child! Don't let her go! Lock her up immediately!"

"Shut up! Are you done with the farce?"

Marvin was burning with rage when he saw Alma still stirring up trouble.

The desire to break through the few nurses in front of her to hit Alma consumed Lucille's mind, thus she remained silent.

At that moment, a tall figure came through the door.

"What's wrong?"

It was Zoel.

When he saw Lucille behind several nurses, he was taken aback and quickly went over to hold her.

"Who is this? The adulterer, right? You finally show up, huh?" Alma didn't know Zoel. When she saw him holding Lucille, she thought that her assumption was correct. Alma pointed to Aurora and asked, "Is this deformed child yours?"

"What did you say?" It was Zoel's first time meeting Alma. He had not expected her to be such a malicious woman, one who could jeer at a small child so heartlessly!

"Let's go!"

Marvin wanted to pull Alma away, but she grabbed the door handle and refused to leave.

"No, I want to see why Lucille left the young master of Moore Group. I want to see what kind of person the adulterer is!"

Previously, Alma managed to join the high-tea gatherings of the elite in A City because Lucille married Franklin. Later, when she divorced him, she was removed off the list and laughed at.

At that thought, Alma was furious.

"Are you wondering what kind of person I am?" Zoel stood up and looked Alma up and down.

"Yes. I think Lucille must have committed immoral acts, so she gave birth to a deformed..."

Slap!

Without waiting for Alma to finish her sentence, Lucille forcefully shrugged off Zoel's arm and slapped her hard.

It was the first time she had slapped someone.

Alma was dumbfounded after being slapped by Lucille. She had always been the one to beat Lucille. Lucille was just a coward who did not dare to strike back.

"Shut up, she is not deformed!" After Lucille slapped her, she was frightened as well, but she still clenched her fists and roared a warning at Alma. "Hubby, she... Your daughter hit me!"

Alma burst into tears at once, but Marvin knew who the real wrongdoer was. Hence, he spoke to Lucille instead, saying "Don't mind it. I'll take her away now." "Hubby, you're actually on her side? She gave birth to a deformed child with a b*stard!"

Not only did Alma call Aurora an illegitimate child, but she also regarded Zoel as a b*stard.

Seeing that Marvin was about to pull Alma away, Zoel took a large stride to stand in front of them. He raised his left hand and said, "I think I should introduce myself."
