You Hit My Heart -
Chapter 167
The interior of the residence was extraordinarily luxurious, lined withEuropean-style crystal chandeliers over ten meters high. The wallswere inlaid with brownish marble, and in the center of the house was arevolving staircase made of Southeast Asian rosewood.
The curtains in the living room were halfway closed blocking most ofthe sunlight. The beams of light that made it into the room had added tothe house a sense of mystery.
The surrounding silence was appalling, and even the sound of theclock's brass pendulum could be clearly heard.
Charlotte cautiously walked into the living room but didn't even see asingle person. As Jacqueline said, Stephanie had asked to see heralone.
A "dang" sound.
The giant clock hit twelve o'clock and made a crystal clear sound.Charlotte was taken aback, and her heartbeat rose sharply as shecovered her chest and looked around nervously. Her eyes fell on aslight open door not far away, and through the veil hanging from whichthere appeared to be someone inside, and she slowly walked over.
As she approached, a low, stern, cold voice came from inside.
"Come on in."
Charlotte took a deep breath, adjusted her breathing, and her lipstwisted in the curve of a smile that she is always good at.
She pushed open the door, only to see Stephanie sitting upright on thesofa, wearing a light blue dress, cozy yet classy. Although she lookedthin, she seemed to be in good health. Her hair was combedmeticulously, and looked serious and majestic.
The Stephanie in front of her certainly did not look like she was alreadyat the terminal stage of her cancer.
Charlotte called out respectfully, "Hello, Grandma." She thought aboutit, but could not think of a more appropriate way to call her. It was betterto just call her Grandma directly.
"Please sit down, do you know how to make tea?" Stephanie held out ahand in gesture, pointing to the tea set laid out on the table.
Charlotte nodded hastily, "Yes. I'll make the tea." Since entering theHeath family, she had learned some of the manners of high society, likeflower arrangement, tea, golf, and everything essential to a lady herage.
She skillfully boiled water, washed cups, brewed, and then respectfullyserved the tea.
Stephanie took the cup of tea, carefully tasted some, and slowly said,"The taste of tea is okay, but the person who made the tea wasobviously a little impatient.”
Charlotte was a little embarrassed to hear such remarks just when shecame in. She was nervous, so she had to say, "Grandma, I'll make anew one.”
“It's okay, no need. I heard that the Heath family found you at theorphanage?” Stephanie asked.
"Yes." Charlotte replied.
“I've heard that Joyce grew up in an orphanage too. There aren't manyorphanages in Khebury, so could it be that you were in the same one?"Stephanie wondered.
“It is indeed the same orphanage. Joyce and I grew up together.” Themention of Joyce made Charlotte uncomfortable. The way people hadalways compared her with Joyce had disgusted her a lot. But she couldnot show it in front of Stephanie.
“Your mother Cecelia is always so mild, generous and composed, and Ilike her very much. When she accidentally lost her child, she was sogrief-stricken that she didn't care about anything else and spent all hertime looking for her child. I also heard about it. These years she ahdreally suffered a lot. You have also suffered after the twenty years in theorphanage." Stephanie sighed.
"Yes, Mom had suffered too much looking for me. I will take good careof her in the future and won't let her down." Charlotte sneaked a glanceat Stephanie.
The unworldly temperament, and cool eyebrows were just like Luther.“It's a shame, it's a shame." Stephanie is also looking up and down atCharlotte and slowly shaking her head.
