Chapter 1789: It's Not Over

Luther lifted Anderson upright, holding the small body closely to hischest, tightening his embrace as he felt a surge of fear.

“Is Anderson injured?” Felix stepped forward, concerned. He touchedAnderson's forehead. "He's unconscious. With the living room in thatstate, I'm not sure if his eardrums will be affected. It's also possible thathe has a concussion. You should take him to the hospital as soon aspossible.”

Luther nodded. “Felix, I'm really sorry about Vicki."

Felix patted Luther's shoulder. "Don't say those useless words. I'll replace away to handle it. The situation outside is chaotic, so I'll withdraw mymen. If you need any further assistance, just let me know."

Luther then instructed the leader of the mercenaries, "This is Mr.Saunders. You'll follow him and obey his orders. Your task now is toprotect Mr. Saunders."

"Yes," the leader of the mercenaries replied.

Felix nodded. "Alright. I won't stand on ceremony. Some of my menwere injured tonight, and we're short on manpower. Take care ofyourself."

After saying that, Felix turned and left.

He walked faster and faster, pretending to be carefree, but his heartwas heavy with worry. Vicki had been taken away by Cloud, and hehated himself for it. He couldn't predict how Cloud would treat Vicki. Hewas both afraid and concerned.

Outside the Warner residence, the SUVs brought by Cloud had blockedthe avenue. Luther left the special forces to handle the situation whilehe carried Anderson and rushed toward the entrance, boarding the carthey had arrived in.

Joyce and Alisha were still at the hospital, and he couldn't bear to stayaway from them any longer.

Darrin drove, speeding all the way. The special forces soldiers who hadcome with them drove another car, taking Mr. Arnold and the otherinjured guards to the hospital together.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Darrin had already contacted them byphone and arranged for medical carts and a medical team. He alsocalled Reuben, who had been anxiously waiting.

As soon as they arrived, the medical personnel swiftly took Andersonand sent him into the CT room.

Luther and Darrin waited outside the CT room.

Darrin was restless. "Mr. Warner, I'm sorry. It's my oversight that I didn'tleave enough manpower to guard the Warner family. Anderson is soclever, and if anything happened to him, I wouldn't be able to face themarshal."

"Don't say those things. As long as he's unharmed, that's what matters. And don't blame yourself. No matter how many people you left behind,Cloud would have succeeded tonight. There's no difference,” Luthercomforted him.

"Thanks to Anderson's quick thinking, he knew to hide in the safe room.Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable,” Darrinsighed heavily.

Luther was also filled with lingering fear. Sweat had soaked through hisback, and his forehead was covered in large beads of sweat.

In the midst of his anxiety, the door of the CT room slowly opened.

The radiologist inside called them in.

Luther quickly entered the inner room, standing in front of the computer. The doctor explained, "There's no big problem. His currentunconsciousness is due to mild cerebral edema. The shockwave fromthe explosion can cause blast-related brain injury, resulting inheadaches, confusion, difficulty concentrating, and unusual emotions. However, these symptoms usually improve within a few days. Pleasedon't worry. If he vomits after waking up, it's also normal. We willconduct further examinations. Also, for now, it seems that his eardrumsare fine."

Luther breathed a sigh of relief. "Okay, thank you."

After expressing gratitude to the doctor, Darrin carried Anderson.

"Mr. Warner, I've arranged a room next to Alisha's. Let me takeAnderson to clean up and settle him. You should go clean up as well.I've already prepared replacement clothes for you," Darrin said, glancing at himself and Luther. They were covered in thick dust fromthe explosion. They couldn't enter the hospital rooms like that. If theybrought the heavy dust into Alisha's room, it might cause infection."Yes, alright," Luther agreed.

After thoroughly cleaning himself, Luther changed his clothes. He firstvisited Alisha, who was still in a deep sleep, and then went to theadjacent room. Anderson had already changed into clean clothes, hiseyes tightly shut, his little fists clenched defensively.

Luther sat down beside Anderson, gently stroking his small fists, feelingimmense tenderness.

Tonight was destined to be extraordinary.

The most important people in his life were lying unconscious in thehospital. Joyce and the twins, Anderson, and Alisha, eachof themweighed heavily on his mind.

He inserted his fingers deeply into his hair, feeling physically andmentally exhausted. He wanted to protect them, to always protectthem. But he didn't know how long his own body could hold on.

At this moment, Darrin also changed his clothes. He stood guard at themidpoint position outside Anderson and Alisha's hospital rooms, unableto afford the slightest mistake.

After a while, a nurse entered to administer an IV to Anderson.

"Mr. Warner, we're giving him a saline solution and medication toreduce swelling," the nurse explained.

Luther nodded, stepping aside from his position, watching as theneedle pierced Anderson's narrow blood vessels. His heart ached. After the nurse finished administering the 1V, she left the room.

Luther gazed at Anderson's sleeping face, lost in thought.

The matter with Athena was far from over, and he knew it all too well.Athena had only lost the tool that threatened her. She wouldn't give up.He had to put an end to things with Athena as soon as possible. Hecouldn't avoid facing Christian.
