You Hit My Heart
Chapter 180

The first person to lead the team was Karl, a good-looking, tall andhandsome man, who stepped into the room and walked straighttowards Jacqueline. He showed his police ID and said to other policeofficers present, "We are the Second Precinct Criminal InvestigationDetachment. From now on, we will take over the scene here." Thevoice was loud and clear.

He winked at the other officers, “Seal off the scene and collectevidence. Notify the coroner.”

The rest of the police immediately divided the work. Some began to pullthe cordon fence, some began to collect evidence, and some cleanedup the scene and took photos.

Joyce recognized that it was Karl, the detective who took over the caseof Lauren for her last time, and she immediately shouted, "Officer Karl, when I came back, Grandma had no breath, but her body was stillwarm, so the murderer hadn't gone far, so hurry up and expand thesearch area.”

Shelly rushed to Karl's side, "Officer, don't listen to her. Mygrandmother must have been killed by her. You hurry up and arresther."

Karl shot a cold glance at Shelly and swept her away with one arm, "It'snot up to you to decide who the suspect is. Please do not interfere withour work." He took out his walkie-talkie, "Attention, ground crewoutside, expand the search area, the killer may be nearby. Don't let goof the slightest hint."

Shelly shouted incredulously, "You believe her? Why?"

Karl returned with an expressionless face, “I'm just doing my work, notletting any useful information slip by."

He glanced at Joyce's handcuffed hands behind her back, and then atJacqueline, the oldest person here, and asked, "What is the deseased'sname?"

"Stephanie," Jacqueline replied. "She is my mother-in-law, eighty-twoyears old."

"And what is she to you?" Karl pointed at Joyce, "If I remembercorrectly, your name is Joyce, right? The person involved in the Laurencase last time."

Jacqueline froze and stammered, "She is my son's nominal wife."

Karl frowned, "A couple is a couple, what do you mean by nominally? The last time at the police station, I clearly remember that she wasregistered as the wife of Luther. So Luther is your son and she is yourdaughter-in-law. The deceased is your mother-in-law, right?"

"Yes." Jacqueline was annoyed. Where did such a rude little detectivecome from, not giving her any face? She was at least an upper-classnoblewoman.

Karl instructed another officer, "Uncuff Joyce, she can't be treated as asuspect yet until there's evidence."

"Yes." The police officer rushed forward to unlock Joyce's handcuffs.Joyce rubbed her sore wrist and said to Karl, "Officer Karl, thanks alot."

Karl didn't appreciate it, but pointed at Shelly and Jacqueline and saidnonchalantly, "All those present are suspects, and are not allowed toleave from now on, and all of them are to go back to the police stationwith us for questioning.”

"What? We're suspects t00? It's obvious she's the killer." Shelly wasintensely upset.

“I killed Grandma? Are you out of your mind? What's my motive?"Joyce was really angry. She had been sad enough that hergrandmother had died, but she had to argue with these brainless idiots. At this time, a small police officer, with a document running over,"Captain, this is a document found from under the bedside table in frontof the deceased. Perhaps the deceased had deliberately hidden itunder the bedside table before she died."

Karl put on his gloves, took the file in one hand and took it out to lookthrough it.

Jacqueline, with a sharp eye, saw the law firm's seal and immediatelyshouted, "That's Stephanie's will!"

Shelly rushed forward to see what was written in the will.

When she got a good look, she screamed out loud in disbelief.

"Oh my God! Oh my God!"
