Karl tapped the tabletop with his middle knuckle with a crisp ring.

At that moment, the waiter brought up two set meals. Pork ChopMacaroni and Cheese, Salad, and Tomato Bisque.

"Please enjoy your meals.” The waiter took away the empty plates,curtsied, and said before she retreated.

"Eat up. Sure enough, the fabulous Karl has noticed it all. It seems I'vedone more than I should today.” Joyce joked as she ate up.

"How come? I just noticed such a person around Charlotte andchecked it out. But I wasn't aware that there was an ambiguousrelationship between the two of them. So you have made a significantdiscovery." Karl praised, "Luther seems to be unaware of theambiguous relationship between Charlotte and Ricky?"

“I'm not sure what he's thinking. And ..." Joyce said, frowning.

"And what?" Karl pursued, "To be honest, he hasn't contacted me in awhile. Not long ago, he still contacted me quite frequently and would letme know as soon as he got a lead. I heard that he's getting engaged toCharlotte. What a surprise to me."

"Yes, he's getting engaged. He was in a car accident at theClarenworth border and lost part of his memory. So, I think he may notremember you. That's why he hasn't contacted you lately." Joycesmiled bitterly.

"Amnesia? So, he forgot about you?" Karl was very shocked. He hadthought of multiple reasons but never thought it would be somethinglike this.

“Not entirely. He still remembers me. Just, he remembers not much butjust the days when we first met." Joyce shrugged, “It doesn't matter, thetwo of them are going to get married sooner or later anyway."

“I don't think so, huh. If we can replace something to do with Charlotte. Thismarriage may not be possible either. Engaged is not the same asmarried. We still have time. I will help you fight for it." Karl rarely madepromises, but at this moment, his eyes almost burned into Joyce'seyes, very serious.

Joyce was stunned at first and then waved her hand, "Youmisunderstood, I never wanted to break them up. Besides, they bothhave children. The child is innocent, no matter what. What I have inmind is to replace out the truth. Find out who killed Stephanie.”

"Well, got it."

Karl bowed his head and ate, "I'll continue to follow up on Ricky'smatter and try to replace out what's going on between the two of them."After dinner, Joyce and Karl chatted for a while and before they knew it,it was after ten o'clock.

It was late and they left the cafe together.

“You don't have to see me off specially, I'm going to the subway stationright ahead to take the bus. It's not far, and it's just the right time tohave a walk around after dinner.” Joyce said, actually politely refusingKarl to drive her back.

“I also happen to want to take a walk.” Karl didn't push it but wasn'tcomfortable with Joyce walking alone at night either.

The two walked and chatted along the way.

When they came to the intersection.

Karl suddenly pulled Joyce.

"How strange, there are several military vehicles parked at theintersection in front of us.”
