THIRD PERSON POV:

"Is it just me, or has Bella been acting a bit weird since today?" Kai said, breaking the silence between him and his friends.

Ryder, who lay on his bed, sat up at once with his feet touching the ground. He had just gotten back from a long day of detention, and it sucked, unlike when Bella came around to keep him company.

"Maybe Ryder here owes us some explanation," Finn chipped in, and Ryder sighed.

He knew they would have found out about her bringing him breakfast, but that was the least of their problems.

"If this is about breakfast, then it is not what you think. Bella refused to hang out with me today, and I thought she had found out our plan until she mentioned the Sapphire Belle sorority," Ryder said, and the twins frowned.

"Fae," Kai said, his face etched in a frown.

"Yes," Fae answered, cat-walking into the room immediately.

They all turned to see her with the biggest grin on her face.

"Why don't you boys come to the living space to eat? I saved you some food from the cafe tonight," she said, giving off what appeared to be a warm smile, but the guys knew better.

She turned around and left for the living room, while the triplets followed her, their minds seething with anger. She was deviating, and they hated it because they knew she wouldn't bat an eye at hurting Bella. They wanted to teach her a lesson, but they didn't want her hurt.

"They made..." Fae started, opening the paper bags, but Ryder cut her short with a stern look. "We aren't here to eat, Fae."

His words made her roll her eyes.

"Yeah. Where is Bella, and what have your 'sisters' planned to do with her?" they asked, and she sighed.

"Fine." She sat down on one seat by the island table, then supported her jaw with her chin. "After Bella won at fencing, I couldn't take it. I went back to my room and cried so hard. Tonia wouldn't take it and suggested we meet with the Sapphire Bells, which I did, and they suggested we invite her and put her up to a task that would get her in trouble," she said, and Ryder rushed up to the table, his hands in fists.

"What task is this?" he asked in a raised tone.

"Chill out," she said, and Ryder stared at her with a straight face.

A face that made fear cross her heart. She was losing him, and she could tell.

"She is going to pluck a wad of flowers in the Labyrinth tonight," she said, and he slammed his hands on the table, startling her.

"Are you out of your mind?" Finn yelled.

"I should be asking you three the same question. We had a fucking deal, one which would include making Bella pay, but you three are too chicken to do that, so I took matters into my hands."

Ryder, who had been pacing around, paused to face her when she said this.

"Can you hear yourself, Fae?" Kai asked, and she stared at his wrinkled face.

"The Labyrinth isn't safe at night. Who knows what she might run into there? And she could get lost, and she will freeze to death the entire night. Is your goal to kill her?" Finn asked, standing firm with his arms crossed.

Fae shrugged without remorse.

"This bitch thinks we are fucking with her!" he said in a hostile tone, which confused her.

The twins, who didn't know how to weigh in because Fae was Ryder's girlfriend, stood there while Ryder rained down on her.

"I've had enough!" she yelled, her tone cracking.

If the twins yelled at her in that manner, she wouldn't mind so much, but this was Ryder.

"...and I am done with this. I was told I was fucking delusional to think you wouldn't fall in love with her, but they were right. I shouldn't trust people with fated mates, and this is my last call," she said, grabbing the paper bags she came with and stuffing them into her tote bag, which lay on the table.

"No matter how you deny it, you all are attracted to her. You desire her, and..."

"We do not. We have sympathy for people, and we wouldn't want anyone to die for a stupid cause. Everyone knows going into the Labyrinth without a guard is dangerous, let alone at night, but you want her to die. She could be lost for days, and..."

"Save it!" she yelled.

"What's with the commotion?" Evelyn asked, and everyone turned to see her standing by the front door. "Shouldn't you be in your room by now, young woman? It's past eight and almost bedtime."

"I was leaving already," Fae said, sizing up the boys before she walked out of the room.

"Now, that's done. It's time for bed," Evelyn said to the boys, and they stared at each other, trying to figure out if it was wise to let Evelyn know about the club.

"Is there something I should know?" she asked, and they shook their heads. "Goodnight then," she said, turning around.

"Wait," Ryder called out.

He knew that if Evelyn was in school, then his father would likely be there, and he could only be in Bella's room. "My father, I haven't heard from him, and......."

"He is very angry with you, and he doesn't want to speak with you for a while," she said with a straight face.

"Is he here?" he asked, and she kept mute. "I was only doing it to protect Bella because I didn't want her getting hurt after what she had been through," he added, and she relaxed her face.

"He is with Bella, but you have to be quick because the lights will go off soon," she said, and he nodded, heading out of the room.

When he got to Bella's room, he heard his father's voice, causing him to pause by the door. He placed his ear on it to hear them better.

"I know he deserves the punishment according to the schoolbook, but he was doing it for a good cause. The school bullies me, and he stood up for me. My life has had a positive turn since then, so please, alpha, do not be harsh on Ryder," she said, and there was a moment of silence. "He regrets his action, and your silence is killing him."

"You do not have to worry about my son and me. I'll deal with that tomorrow. I was just scared of him jeopardizing his chances of getting into high school," he said.

"I'll take my leave now. Good night..."

Before he could finish, Ryder rushed back to his room with a heavy heart. She put in some good words about him.

"Did you stop her?" the twins asked when he returned.

He shook his head, and they stared at him in confusion.

"I couldn't because my father was with her, but she said only good things about me. This made me feel more terrible. There might be something wrong with us, and Bella doesn't deserve us," he said in a low tone.

They already knew this, but she wouldn't forgive them for what they had done.

"So, what do you want us to do? We had a deal with Fae."

"Are you asking us to back out?" Kai asked, and Ryder swallowed hard, looking at them.

"No, this time we play harder," he replied, and they murmured amongst themselves. "Tonight we are going into the Labyrinth with Bella, and we must see to the fact that she plucks that flower," he said, and they fought hard to keep their jaws from falling...
