Dante couldn’t believe it

He had taken the plunge. Without thinking. Without knowing where he was.

He returned so quickly to his human form that it even hurt. He ran to the edge of the balcony, looking down and watching the wolf fall from the first floor to the first, onto the carpet that should have cushioned his fall. He was grateful for the first time that his mansion only had two floors or he might have been killed if he had been on a higher one.

In any case, the fall had been brutal.

He didn’t know what had hurt more, the shock of seeing him fall or the total rejection of him. Not that he was promiscuous, nor did he look for adventures here and there, but the few that had been in his arms had accompanied him to his bed.

He saw him get up slowly as if nothing had happened and run in any direction to get out of that place, something he would not achieve. Firstly, because of the security of the mansion, and secondly, because he couldn’t see the way out. It was already a miracle that he had been able to escape from the room, even in his wild state he was very intelligent, he couldn’t imagine in all his senses. He turned to his beta and ordered them to surround him, but not to harm him. And following his lead, she launched herself over the edge of the balcony landing on her two legs effortlessly and walking slowly towards the animal.

The wolf had no idea where he was, it didn’t seem to be his pack’s mansion, he could make out practically nothing. The faint smells were diverse, without being able to recognise any of them, and that of his children had vanished. He was terrified, upset, he wanted to go out, to run, to be free, to be reunited with his family, but all that vanished when he felt the scent of the alpha that tried to subdue him, closer and closer.

And not only his. Several wolves were surrounding him. He could not guess how many. He could barely sense how far away they were. His body tensed, making the wounds and bones he knew had been injured hurt more than his animal instincts could suppress. He backed up a step, two. He tucked his tail between his legs, ruffled the fur on his back and growled. She felt in danger, and at least she would have to fight even if her strength deserted her.

-Don’t attack him,” the alpha commanded as she saw his reaction and the response of the eight wolves around him.

He seemed smaller even in that circle around him of adults more than a head taller than him and yet he was still able to defy what threatened him. How much must he have suffered to act like that? He would definitely kill Sylas personally, with his own hands. An omega had to show his full splendour, not hide behind his snarls.

Dante took a few steps towards him and felt him rage even more. The red in his eyes refused to budge, and in that condition he would not be able to talk sense into him.

Becoming a wolf wasn’t an option either, it would only make things worse. By now, after two days without drinking his b***d he should be, if better, not recovered. But the figure before him, despite the wounds, surely broken bones from the fall and lack of food only hinted that his b***d had had more effect on him than they had anticipated. Regenerating beyond belief.

-Alpha,” one of the wolves behind him called alerting him.

The atmosphere was tense and he was sure he would be killed if not for his command. A wolf out of control could tear apart, even a puppy without remorse, so they had to be put into captivity looking for improvement, and if it didn’t come in a lax amount of time, the Council destined their end. Losing control was not a frequent occurrence, but there were always situations that could bring a wolf to the brink of sanity.

Dante suddenly turned his face as he heard footsteps running in his direction and did not stop them. Maybe this was the light at the end of the tunnel.

The omega didn’t know how long he stood there, surrounded by hostility, when he felt a sweet smell approaching. His body relaxed completely and he lowered his ears, raising his nose in an attempt to sniff more intensely.

Fallen passed by the alpha without looking at him and brushed aside a wolf that was blocking his path. His attention was focused on the animal that seemed frightened and yet still waiting for him. He crept closer.

The wolf managed to pick up where the scent was coming from and came closer too. It was one of them. One of his cubs. It was there for him. He had gone looking for it and this time there were no chains or locks to be imposed between them. The red mist dispersed immediately, his consciousness was coming back to him, allowing him to feel happy about the reunion and forgetting everything around him.

Fingers brushed the tip of his muzzle gingerly and he licked them complacently, allowing her to touch him more. The hand moved to his neck and gently cupped it, giving way to arms that drew him to a sobbing chest.

He couldn’t be happier.

He was no longer alone!

There would be no more darkness.

Now he could rest in peace.

He closed his eyes and let his body fall limp against his son’s thighs.
