Falco put on his shirt, aware that the day was young and he still had things to do, but he was leaving satisfied, leaving his wolf with a radiant smile on the bed, naked, wrapped in the sheets and reveling in his half-dressed figure.

-Don’t worry about hurrying, Dante is well entertained with his new puppy. It’s been a while since I’ve seen him so motivated,” he commented with a chuckle.

The beta brushed his blond hair back into the beautiful, immaculate cascade down to the nape of his neck, which Bastian loved to tousle just to annoy him.

-Could you not mention that wolf to me, I still remember when he attacked it,” he asked irritably. He couldn’t forget the fateful incident, the memory of his bloodied alpha and friend tortured him whenever the subject of the former queen came up.

-As spiteful as ever. He had no control over himself,” Bastian fervently defended him.

-Bastian, let’s not talk about it, I don’t want to spend the rest of the day in a bad mood,” he warned with a growl in between.

Falco had to stop the pillow that was directed at him.

-But what…” he was surprised at the attack.

The wolf had sat up in bed and was calling out to him with his finger.

He sighed and moved closer letting him pull him by the shirt and place a k**s on his lips.

-No more snarling wolf,” he smiled against his mouth, “Or I’ll punish you,” he threatened seriously.

-Falco kissed him again, leaving him on the bed and walking towards the door, if he stayed there he didn’t think he would be able to accomplish the tasks he had left for the day, and his alpha would surely scold him, after all, going out of his way to satisfy certain needs wasn’t appropriate.

Bastian rubbed against the pillow of his wolf that still lay beside him and breathed in his husband’s scent. He adored him. Loved every part of him and would fight tooth and nail if they tried to take him from him. Memories of the past came flooding back and he smiled. She had suffered, but it had paid off in the end. He only hoped that in the next heat he would be able to have pups, he was sure that would make Falco more flexible. He rolled onto his back and closed his eyes for a moment, letting his mind drift back several years.

He walked on the snow, white, pure, cold, cruel and lifeless. The frozen air penetrated every cell of his young body. His guts had long since stopped rumbling as he realised that nourishment was nil.

So it was. Now he was alone in that remote, inhospitable place.

The afternoon before, his father had asked him to go for a run. He had refused as always, his relationship with him was not exactly rosy. However, at his mother’s insistence, he had no choice but to go with him. He didn’t know how many kilometres it had been, but when he reached the edge of a ravine, his father had pushed him and left him to his fate.

Now he was alone. A wolf barely of age, small and unprotected, walking aimlessly.

He didn’t know how to get back, his father had taken him to a place he didn’t know and the trail had dissolved in the snow. He was tired and broken. His family had been able to abandon him, just because he had not lived up to their expectations. He sat on his hind legs and licked his front paws to remove traces of b***d from the wounds.

He let out a pitiful whimper, another. He wanted to be home, with his pack.

In the distance he felt the branches snapping.

Bastian backed his body to the ground as a huge, dark furred wolf came into view through the snowflakes. His first thought was to run, to escape, but it would be useless. He would be caught in seconds.

The wolf approached with no intention of attacking him, its steps were slow and cautious. Bastian turned on his back showing his neck in total submission. The fear instilled in him by the animal vibrated in his b***d.

The dog looked down at him and rubbed its nose between his neck, sniffing him and realising what a puppy he was. Rising to his feet, he turned and motioned with his head for it to follow him.

He hesitated at the action, but his growl made her react and follow him. To cross him would be death, and he felt more at ease with this stranger than even with his parents.

They may have walked for hours. His paws began to ache again and he thought he would stay behind. However, the guide would stop and wait for her until he was close again and resume the walk.

After several kilometres a small camp sheltered between the overhang of a large rock, with two tents and a campfire, came into view and that was where they headed.

Falco stopped what he was doing and could not believe his eyes. His alpha walking towards him with a smaller wolf behind. A male, a pup. The scent of youth that had yet to reach its first rut surrounded her and he could feel it. What the hell was he doing picking off more individuals? Already the herd was large.

-What madness are you doing now,” she retorted to her alpha when they arrived.

Dante regained his human form and began to dress without paying much attention to his not-so-young beta.

-Shut up, Falco,” he ordered calmly picking up an extra set of clothes and placed them in front of Bastian, kneeling down. It was very small.

-Put this on, we’ll feed you later. I am Dante. Alpha of the Silver Pack, you will now be under my protection. You have nothing to fear,” he spoke softly so as not to frighten him.

Bastian looked at him and the truth was reflected in his beautiful eyes. He wagged his tail and began to transform slower than normal, feeling his bones creak and ligaments stretch.

His barely developed, adolescent body shivered in the winter cold and he grabbed the pieces of clothing and put them on as quickly as he could, being so young he was not yet able to regulate his body temperature, unlike an adult wolf.

-Damn, Dante,” that voice again scolded his saviour, “Sometimes I wonder what goes through your mind, being spoiled and overprotective with the pups one of these days will lead you to your grave,” the tall, slim, broad-shouldered wolf with short, somewhat short blond hair and refined hairstyle stopped next to him and gave him a glance, “And you,” he addressed him with hardly any interest, “What’s your name?

Bastian was speechless for the moment. His eyes sparkled and his heart beat like it hadn’t for a long time, and with an energy he didn’t know where it came from, he jumped up and clung to the wolf’s neck under his surprised gaze, wrapping his legs around his narrow waist.

-You,” he grinned from ear to ear, showing a row of white teeth, “You will be my future husband,” he said without a hint of hesitation.
