5 Puppies For The Alpha -
Chapter 71
Lucian was running like mad, leaving behind the two wolves that watched his back. He was following a strange trail when he heard the howl of his beta telling him that Lukyan, the only Lukyan he knew was with him, almost dying. His heart almost wanted to burst out of his chest.
How could he be there and in that condition? What the hell was Dante doing? If it was him he wouldn’t let him suffer like that.
He growled as he approached the spot he had been told, but there was only snow, even so, the scent of the omega was faint. The snow was a hindrance and it was getting thicker. He paused for a moment, panting, looking from side to side. He couldn’t see it, and that was upsetting him. He raised his head and howled to see if he would answer, but nothing. He walked, smelling the ground. He could hear his heart pounding in his ears, he hoped he wasn’t too late.
There, a few yards away, she saw something, a body almost buried in the snow. He gasped and ran over. The image left him petrified for a few minutes. Lukyan’s naked body was motionless, his skin very white to the point of turning blue, the b***d on his back stained the snow around him that was barely visible anymore. His fingers were almost torn and the crimson liquid clotted, as if he had been burying something.
Lucian returned to his human form and quickly began to brush the snow off of him, taking him in his arms feeling him so cold that he was frightened.
-Lukyan, hey Lukyan, react,” she patted his cheek to receive no response.
The wolves following him finally arrived and saw the scene, their alpha at the point of collapse next to a wolf. They approached cautiously. Lucian paid them no attention, rubbing Lukyan’s arms as he hugged him in an attempt to warm him. He sought his lips and kissed him hoping that at least his skill was actually useful, he needed it now.
Minutes later, only when he felt a m**n against his shoulder, was he able to breathe again. She touched his head and kissed his temple, relieved that he was still in this world. He looked at her torn back and frowned. Normally, wounds should close after receiving his fluids directly, but for some reason this one had only stopped bleeding, but threatened to remain open.
He didn’t see his beta around either. He would get even with him later. He growled in annoyance to the point that his guards backed off, but restrained himself as he felt the wolf’s body tremble again.
-Let’s get back to the pack,” he announced and carried him in his arms, if it wasn’t for the fact that he had been marked by Dante he wouldn’t let him leave his castle.
Ellar watched his brother enter the manor with someone in his arms and followed him. Being smaller than the alpha he almost had to run to keep up with his long strides. He hadn’t even noticed his presence, but from the scent and the atmosphere around him it indicated that he was really upset and that wasn’t good. Lucian could be unreasonable when he was riled up.
-Brother,” he muttered, almost reaching for him.
-Ellar, not now, I have business to attend to, I’ll call you later to help me,” despite his state he spoke calmly.
-Ellar,” one of the guards stopped him by the shoulder and he turned around confused, “Please don’t be alarmed, he is the queen of the silver pack, but for some reason she was found by our alpha in a very bad condition, be patient, the insurance will explain later”.
-Oh, thank you,” she smiled at the guard before following him back to her room.
Ellar didn’t quite understand the situation yet, but if there was one thing he knew, it was that the wolf was related to him. His brother kept no secrets from him, so he would just have to wait for him to go and tell him, plus, he had never seen that look on his face before.
Lukyan no longer felt cold, yet the pain and hollowness in his soul would not go away.
-Those words brought her back to her senses and everything that had happened in the last hour that she had been conscious hit her, making her sit up quickly in bed.
A scream escaped his lips, an immense pain shot through his back and hands grabbed his arms to gently lay him back on his side. He gasped uncontrollably and trembled with his nerves so upset as his head was placed on someone’s arm.
-Don’t move like that,” Lucian’s worried voice echoed in his ears again, “The wound on your back is serious, don’t make it happen again,” his hand stroked her head.
-Lucian,” he managed to speak once the pain had subsided to a bearable level, “What happened, how many days has it been,” he sounded upset.
-First calm down, it’s not good for you,” the wolf touched some pressure points on his neck and on his shoulder after pulling the nightgown that covered him a little, hoping it would take away the tension in his muscles, “Don’t worry about Dante and your son, they’re fine,” he said.
He saw her eyes light up and held him by the waist as she again made an involuntary attempt to get up.
-You’ve been completely unconscious for a day, Kei came back recently and told me that you gave him the antidote for the poison. It’s lucky your b***d helped them because it wasn’t long before we had to replace another alpha.
She heard him sigh.
-I was the one who told him to go to Dante’s pack, it’s not his fault he left me there,” Lucian growled and Luky sighed.
Lucian growled and Lukyan lowered his head, avoiding his gaze.
-Just like he almost arrived when Dante only had a short time left, the same happened with you, what state do you think I found you in,” he almost shouted at him but then pulled back, clenching his fists, “Lukyan, you were freezing, you’re so young and you barely control your body temperature, you have no idea what I had to do to keep you from dying.
He pursed his lips, he knew he was right, but it was him or Dante and his son, and everyone he cared about was ahead of his being, even Lucian. But as if the wolf had read his mind he jerked his chin until he looked at him.
-I know you care about everyone’s safety, but have you ever sat down and asked yourself how important you are to others, to Dante, to your children, to me?
Lukyan couldn’t answer, his eyes filled with tears that ran down his eyes. To receive affection unconditionally without giving anything away, to care about someone, to be cared about, these were feelings he was not used to. Lucian pulled him to his chest and rubbed his head as silent tears streamed down his cheeks.
-Don’t cry, beautiful, you have no reason to, we love you the same way you love us. So, from now on, I want you to think a little about your safety, because if anything happens to you again, I swear I’ll kick Dante’s a*s and lock you up here in the castle so you’ll be safe,” he kissed the crown of her head.
Lukyan smiled in her arms. In a way he felt happy after the storm. He had lost one daughter but now he knew there were others waiting for him, and that felt really good.
-Now beautiful, I know you are recovering, but I need you to tell me what happened, otherwise I won’t be able to get the Council moving and from what I believe the situation is quite serious. There are even suspicions of your collaboration in the plot with Sylas, though I’m sure Dante suppressed them.
The omega broke off and nodded.
-I’ll tell you everything, and you most likely won’t believe me.
