Lukyan enjoyed the short time he spent with his children, but he had to breathe in exhaustion. They had spent so much time clinging to him that he needed Bastian to take them away, if only for a moment, so he could rest and think clearly about what had happened. Besides, every time they hugged him or hung on the back of his neck they hurt him and he just hid the grimace of pain, not wanting them to know what he was dealing with. As a result the wound throbbed, preventing him from raising his arms.

-Are you ready?” Dante entered his room a while later.

-Yes,” he said softly, eyes closed, breathing slowly, “Can you hold my hair back,” she looked over her shoulder at him, “I don’t think I can do it myself,” Dante frowned.

Dante frowned and walked up behind him.

-Are you in that much pain,” he worried.

-Not how you imagine,” he tried to hide it, “I just got hurt a little bit by the puppies.

She heard him break away and head for the nightstand, looking for the medicine Edgar had told him to get.

-Let me take care of you for a moment and now let’s go to the meeting, the situation may be a little tense and it’s preferable that you keep your mind focused,” he said as he helped him take off his shirt.

She left some of the thick, reddish liquid on his fingers and ran them as gently as she could over the wolf’s back but that didn’t stop him from stifling a scream and having to hold on to the edge of the dresser. Dante repeated the same procedure and it hurt even for him to see the small of his back quivering as he held back the spasms. He finished as quickly as he could and held him by the waist seeing that his legs were a little unsteady. She turned him towards him and let her head rest on his neck.

-Breathe, like this,” she said as he gasped and a light layer of sweat covered his forehead, “I’m sorry I can’t be the one to carry that pain Lukyan,” she lamented kissing the crown of his head.

-You have nothing to be sorry for, wolf, you have scars to deal with too. These are mine, I can handle them and I wear them with pride.

-Though you’re a quivering bundle now,” Dante scoffed and received a pout from the wolf who rose when the pain subsided and kissed his cheek.

-Help me with the fur or we’ll have Lucian yelling at us for a long time if we keep stalling.

-Lucian,” Dante growled, “You two still owe me an explanation as to what he may have done to you.

-Jealous my alpha,” Lukyan sat up as his legs felt more stable.

-Very,” Dante helped him get dressed again and pulled his hair back into a ponytail, unable to stop himself from kissing the nape of his neck where his mark rested, then licking it possessively. She consciously enveloped him with her scent, in a place that would be full of alphas he would prove that he was her omega, “Feeling better,” she kissed his earlobe, she loved to touch it.

-Hmm,” he nodded and reached up burying his hand in the waves of her dark hair feeling the soft texture of the females.

-Then let’s go,” the wolf took his hand and led him down a corridor that brought back bad memories, especially when they stopped in front of that door.

Lucian met them at the entrance and turned to one side to let them pass, then closed the door and walked towards the centre. Waiting for them there were the 7 main chairs that were occupied by the other alphas and one a little further back where Edgar was accompanying them, who nodded to Lukyan. He was the one who had invited him to be present, he would need his support as he already had an idea of how to take down Ryan. After all only one omega was another omega’s worst enemy.

Lukyan sat in the same chair in which he had been judged the first time, and which corresponded to his old pack, at Dante’s request it had been decided to keep that place. Beside him her husband accompanied him. Lucian was in front of them. Now that he could see clearly he noticed the others present and that he had not fallen back on them during their wedding. He was more concerned with how to act in front of the penetrating gaze of the mother-in-law and the imposing figure of the father-in-law.

Of the four chairs, one was empty and must have belonged to the youngest alpha. The body that had been at his side during that tragic journey. One of the three wolves was an adult, even older than Lucian to the point of having several grey hairs in his hair and wrinkles on his face. He must have been at least 4000 years old, that he was not the leader of the Council only indicated that Lucian’s power was even greater than his. Following this wolf what he saw made him slightly impressed. The other two alphas were twins just like Dante and Dmitri. Their hair was white, no, silver, the difference, one wore it shoulder length and the other had it falling like a long waterfall to his waist. His eyes were a very dark green and his skin looked tanned.

-Well, let’s start the emergency meeting, we can’t stay away from our packs for long,” Lucian began to speak, “They’ve already been briefed on a large scale about what happened so I won’t go into details. We assume that Ryan will attack in two days time, when the moon is full, all the data indicates that this is the time when his strength will be at its fullest. Our main objective is to finish him off, not to destroy the members of the iron pack.

-That will be a problem,” the older wolf spoke up, “Are you saying that when they attack we don’t hurt him? How are we supposed to defend ourselves?

-We were informed that they are being controlled against their will,” one of the twins interjected, “If something could be done about that we could focus on how to take down a wolf who’s bites won’t close and who is stronger than even you Lucian.

-That’s what Edgar came for,” Lukyan interrupted firmly and received everyone’s attention, as even Dante himself didn’t know of his plans.

-What do you mean Lukyan,” Lucian raised his eyebrow accusing him of not telling him any idea that had crossed his mind.

-I’ll only tell if they promise,” his words were so dry that more than a few were indignant.

-I can’t believe that the same wolf we had condemned to death is now putting conditions on us,” the other twin protested.

A growl came from Dante and Lucian, and Lucian backed away.

-I have no choice, what I’m about to say may endanger the few omegas we have left, I can’t afford that.

-What do you want?” Lucian said before anyone could put him in a difficult situation.

-First of all, what I say here, nothing can come to light and that all the omegas that they replace and are not linked remain under my protection,” was what he asked and the alphas just stared at him.

-For what purpose?” the adult alpha asked.

-They have always seen us as tools, both for breeding and for their own benefit. It is well known that our powers are well hidden and it is taboo to show them, and we must not do so unless the situation warrants it. I may be condemning us after this and the guilt may even kill me. But I don’t want any more omega to suffer like me.

Dante smiled slightly proud of the husband he had chosen. Lucian for his part narrowed his eyes. He could promise him, but he didn’t know how the other alphas would react so he had to take drastic measures.

-Litus, Leon, Asula,” he addressed them in that voice that even Lukyan who was not on the receiving end trembled, “What is said here is buried and any omega has to be sent here, understood. Whoever fails to do so will be condemned to death,” his eyes flashed after the threat.

The alphas swallowed dryly and nodded. That had been an order sent straight to their subconscious, if they disobeyed it Lucian would know.

-Now Lukyan, you may speak.

The omega nodded and took a deep breath, clenching his fingers.

-The ability to control the mind is not Ryan’s alone, all omegas possess that quality, though some are more developed than others. Ryan’s ability was greatly amplified by devouring Sylas’ tainted b***d, he’s even capable of controlling all members, if I’m not mistaken.

-And what are you suggesting?” the long-haired twin looked at him, rubbing his temple.

-When Dante was poisoned,” Edgar was the one who interrupted, “I saw the power of the queen and how the whole pack just surrendered at her feet, I still remember the feeling,” Lucian raised his eyebrow knowingly.

Lucian raised his eyebrow knowing where this was coming from.

-Don’t even imagine you’ll be on the battlefield,” he replied and Dante became alert, realising his husband’s intentions.

But as they had said before, Lukyan was a tough nut to crack.

-In this room, the only omega who can stand up to his dominance over the other wolves is me,” the others fell silent, knowing he was right, “But I will need your help, specifically, everyone’s b***d.
