Kaiser walked with his arm around the shoulders of one of his twins, Dmitri. The wolf looked more like his mother than like him. Rather, his two sons had their mother’s character. Neither had brought out her playful temperament. Perhaps it was because their first five years had been spent alone with her, until he found them by chance. If that day had not passed, he would not have had his adored blessings with him.

His wife Aralia, the strongest wolf he had ever known, had trained him and taught him almost 90% of everything he knew. In times of war they had even ended up as enemies of different factions. But she was able to protect her cubs from harm. He loved and respected her for that, more than the she-wolf imagined.

The two of them met their mother and brother in conversation outside the door of their room. From the look of the alpha’s healing skin, especially the neck, they could tell he’d had too intense a time. The marks on his back were still very visible.

-Alpha, mother, the pack has been successfully evacuated,” Mitya told them politely.

-Thank you brother,” Dante was relieved to know he could trust him completely.

-But we have a problem,” Kaiser approached his wife, “There are four unruly cubs who won’t go down there until their mother is with them and safe.

Dante sighed, he knew it couldn’t all be that easy. If they were Lukyan’s children, it was clear they would object to leaving without him. He would have to get tough with them. Then he would replace a way to win them back. Especially the two older ones, who were the most stubborn and difficult to deal with.

Lukyan inside the room listened to everything. His hearing was so acute that it was becoming annoying. The words of those four wolves were spoken as if he were next to them. He opened his eyes and sat up in bed. He felt like his body was full of life. Like never before.

His b***d was rushing hard inside him and tiredness was a thing of the past. He looked around and had to pull his hair back and noticed something new. It seemed fuller and softer and had grown past his shoulders in dense, unruly waves. So thick and shiny it was beautiful. Apparently the b***d of those alphas had not only increased his power but revitalised his entire body.

The mention of his sons made him glance towards the door. Rising from the bed he pulled on a suitable set of clothes with a speed that surprised her. He felt light, powerful. She smiled, it was a good feeling. She turned to the door and opened it seeing how the four wolves were still talking but paid attention to her as soon as they noticed her presence.

Dante was quickly at her side raising his hand to her neck, impressed by how he looked.

-Lukyan, what happened in the minutes I left you alone?

He smiled slightly at her and stood on his tiptoes leaving a k**s on her cheek. Then he looked at the other three.

-Aralia, Kaiser,” he bowed his head slightly, even though she was queen and her status was above them, he still owed her respect both for her youth and for being his in-laws.

-You look beautiful,” Aralia bowed her head, “And powerful,” a somewhat sadistic smile left her lips, “When all this is settled I would like to fight you, I would like to test your skills.

-Kaiser interrupted her, receiving a grunt from his wife and turned away from her accordingly, “Dante, don’t do it if you don’t want to become a widower, you know what your mother is like,” Kaiser said.

The comment might have brought a smile to their faces if the moment wasn’t so tense. Lukyan approached Dmitri.

-Take me to see my cubs,” was all he asked.

-Yes, queen,” he bowed sharply, still replaceing it hard to look him straight in the face after what had happened.

The omega followed him, leaving Dante with his parents. They were planning the positions they would take and from the last he could hear, Aralia would be in the front row next to her son while Kaiser would be protecting him. Apparently that she-wolf that didn’t look dangerous was more terrifying than one imagined.

Lukyan stopped in front of a door and Mitya knocked.

-We won’t leave without ma,” Sacha’s voice sounded from inside. They had locked the door and wouldn’t let anyone through. They were behaving childishly, but he understood them, they were afraid of losing him too.

-I’m sorry queen, but here’s what’s going on.

Lukyan stared at the door and only blinked slowly. He reached out to the latch and just squeezed his hand with his long fingernails. The wood around it cracked as the metal in his hand crumpled like a ball of paper. From inside the latch rattled abruptly and the door opened slowly. The wolf opened his hand and shook it, dropping part of the disfigured handle.

Mitya swallowed dryly and dared not speak. Lukyan advanced and as soon as they saw him they ran to him and Axel and Sacha hugged him tightly.

-Ma, you want to separate us from you,” the younger brother squeezed his arm.

Fallen and Matias didn’t copy them, but they stayed close, noticing the change in his appearance, which, although it wasn’t very marked, didn’t go unnoticed. The two younger ones were too upset to notice.

-The situation is critical, it is necessary for you to take shelter.

-But ma, you must come with us, it’s not safe for you either,” Axel demanded.

Lukyan smiled at him and rubbed his head.

-I have things to do here, I can’t go with you,” he said.

Hearing that, the two minors separated and their eyes filled with concern.

-If you stay here, the chances of you dying are high,” said Matías seriously.

-I won’t die,” he said with his face full of confidence, “But I need you to be safe, otherwise I can’t concentrate.

-But,” Sacha insisted.

-No buts,” Lukyan was firm, “You go with Dmitri, I have Dante and Falco to protect me,” although he knew that right now he was stronger than all of them put together, “Understood?

Matias, Axel and Sacha, lowered their heads, after all, their mother was asking for it and they couldn’t refuse but Fallen didn’t agree.

-Then let me stay with you,” he asked firmly.

-No.”

-Ma, I can protect you as well.

-No.

-I can’t come down and leave you here alone,” he insisted without relenting.

But Lukyan would not allow one of his sons to take such a risk. He approached Fallen and hugged him, taking him by surprise.

-I’m sorry, you’ll understand later,” she whispered, and then the wolf felt his legs grow so weak that he had to drop his body on his mother before he lost consciousness. Before everything went black, he caught a glimpse of the omega’s two irisless golden orbs, the same eyes he had used that time to subdue.

Fallen cursed but was knocked completely unconscious. Dmitri was quickly at their side and held the young wolf next to Matthias, helping him with the extra weight.

-Dmitri, take care of them,” Lukyan turned to his sons, his orbs once again a natural colour, not wanting to frighten them, “Do as he says,” he walked over to each of them and placed a k**s on their foreheads, “Wait for me,” he said.

The cubs nodded reluctantly and followed the Commander with their heads down, but at least it gave him peace of mind. Then he could focus on the battle to come. He left the room and stood in front of the window. The wind ruffled his hair and a foul smell came from far, far away but he knew it would soon be intense. The time was near.

He put his hand to his flat belly and felt. For females it was perhaps too soon, but his body was that of an omega and this was a special case, so he already knew.

-Now only you are missing, don’t worry, I will protect you,” she said to the life forming inside her.
