Hearing that voice, Lukyan tried to back away without success. His surroundings turned completely grey and all the connections he had created with his pack were broken. Everything faded away, leaving only his consciousness in an empty place. He narrowed his eyes and took a deep breath. Footsteps sounded behind him and he turned slowly, knowing who was there.

-My beautiful wolf,” Ryan stopped a few feet away from him with a strange smile on his lips, “I knew you were special, that you would survive and that you would replace a way to face me,” he guffawed sounding almost lunatic, “You’re the best.

-Ryan,” Lukyan’s voice came out calm despite the situation, “Apparently eating Sylas’ heart made you crazier than you were already.

-I’ve never been saner in my entire life, my precious jewel!

That he called her all those words only made him feel disgusted. If it came from her husband it wouldn’t be like this, when Dante said beautiful things in her ear when they made love or just by her side, it made her legs tremble.

-Don’t think of someone else when I’m talking to you,” the wolf growled loudly, “Dante, Dante, he’s broken all my plans. I wanted to become one of his pack but he was always a problem and you, you, you’ve never looked at me any different than a servant,” his voice was rising, his eyes bloodshot.

-There was a time when I saw you as my friend, a wolf I could trust blindly, but now, I don’t even recognise you,” he continued neutrally.

Ryan stood still for a few seconds and then Lukyan didn’t know if he laughed or sobbed. He really was mad. The omega took a step back. He had to try to regain control of his consciousness, the longer he was trapped there, along with him, the more danger his pack and his loved ones would be in.

-You can’t escape,” Ryan looked like he could read his mind and he did, “I’m inside your conscience, precious, I know everything you think. You became strong, I have to admit I would never have thought you would block my control over the pack, but that is your greatest weakness,” Lukyan could feel a bead of sweat running down his back, “The more you open your mind the more vulnerable your own consciousness becomes. That’s why it was easy for me to get in. It’s like you say, if you can’t take down the wolves, you only have to take down the one who controls them. Same for you –

Ryan began to advance gently and he retreated, keeping his distance cautiously. He repulsed his touch. Even though there was no more wound on his back thanks to the strong regeneration due to the alphas b***d, he would always remember the pain of her fangs breaking his skin.

-You can’t escape from me Lukyan. I am much stronger than you when it comes to control, besides it’s just you and me here, in this empty space, we can stay here forever. Can you imagine, we could be happy, no one would interfere…

-Not even in your best dreams,” he replied through gritted teeth, thinking that he had to hurry back, if Ryan was there it meant that Dante could be in danger.

A laugh came out of Ryan’s mouth again, and this time he doubled over, unable to contain his laughter.

-Dante, Dante, you only think about him. But don’t worry, my beautiful, you won’t have to anymore,” the colour left Lukyan’s face, “Appreciate the most beautiful image you will ever see in your life.

Behind the omega, the grey space faded slightly, revealing the outside. Everything was as if frozen. No one was moving, it was as if the time they were there was non-existent. But that was not what caught Lukyan’s attention. In the distance he saw two bodies on the ground bathed in b***d. He felt himself shaking completely and his mouth went dry. There was no mistake the two bodies on the ground were Lucian and her husband.

-It was really easy to kill them.

-It’s a lie,” she breathed heavily.

-I wouldn’t lie to you Lukyan, you know that what I show you is the truth. Your husband and that alpha thought they could take me on and look, now they’re just more of the pack,” she gave him a half sideways glance, “We can come to an agreement,” Lukyan’s eyes closed.

Lukyan’s eyes closed, regaining control. He searched for his connection to Dante and as he thought there was nothing, he couldn’t feel anything from the outside. He was trapped in his own consciousness and could only get out if he expelled Ryan.

-Your husband is dead, the Council’s strongest alpha is dead, it’s only a matter of time before I kill everyone who stands in my way and take power, but you can stop this massacre. Surrender to me and I will spare all who bow at my feet. I know very well that the she-wolves and the cubs have them as refugees. What would it be like to kill them in front of your eyes? Would you be able to stand it,” he laughed madly, not caring if he hurt the omega, the more cruel, the faster he would break.

-Don’t talk to me like that,” a warm, melodious voice echoed behind Lukyan as arms wrapped around his neck out of the dark mist that enveloped them.

Ryan’s eyes widened and he stepped back accordingly. This time it was he who went pale. He pointed a finger at the one leaning against Lukyan, who also couldn’t remove a shocked expression.

-You, you, who are you? How could you get in?

-I don’t need to come in. I was always here,” the newcomer’s lips lifted, “I am the son of ma, the one formed in her womb, the offspring of the alpha out there, the one who will be the strongest wolf ever born, Aidan, isn’t it nice to meet you?

Lukyan stood admiring the goat beside him. It was practically his exact image except for his s*x, his silver eyes and much darker, wavy hair, long down to his waist reminding him of the father figure. His scent was indisputable, he was her son. She brought her hand to her belly and felt. A hand of her son’s rested on hers.

-Ma, I’m here to help you,” the wolf smiled at her but his eyes looked empty and his smile so false, “Ma, I’ll take care of this wolf on your conscience, leave him to me, you destroy him outside, pa is waiting for you.

-How can you…?” a finger rested on Lukyan’s lips before receiving a k**s on his cheek.

-Ma, it’s not time for that,” he whispered, “You’ll understand later,” he focused on Ryan who still looked dumbfounded, “Kill him ma, I’ll help you from here and take care of the red-haired wolf as well,” his smile grew sharper, “He’s mine,” Lukyan was about to say something to her.

Lukyan was about to say something to her, but everything suddenly went black and he found himself standing again in front of the war that was going on. He had been driven out of his own consciousness and although he no longer had the burden of maintaining the bridge and connections, they were still there. He worried about what had just happened but he had to trust, the one who had claimed to be his son had had the power to pull him out even when he had been trapped. Kaiser at his side was shaking him by the shoulder.

-The former alpha had a few scratches on his arms and all around him were a few wolves on the ground. Including several of his own.

He blinked, analysing what had just happened and could only come to one conclusion. It had to stop. He could feel his son’s presence inside his head and in his stomach throbbing. He was strong, as if he had absorbed the b***d of the alphas inside him.

-Kaiser, I will put an end to this,” and before he could reply she jumped up, tearing her clothes off and turning her body into her animal form.

Those guarding her were stunned by her swift action and by the time they reacted she was already moving quickly away. Kaiser growled and transformed and ran after the others. Their duty was to protect him at all costs.

Lukyan was running, dodging any obstacle with ease, and that wolf that dared to stand in his way was as if a barrier hit him and he fell to the ground unconscious. He knew his son had taken control of his mind and was taking care of the hardest part allowing him to concentrate on one thing. Destroying Ryan.

And he spotted him. The big wolf that was shaking. At his feet the image she had seen before of her husband and friend. Blind fury filled Lukyan’s insides and just yards away from Ryan, he leapt straight for its jugular.
