5 Puppies For The Alpha -
Chapter 84
For the first time in years, Lukyan felt like he was sleeping in a bubble. Everything around him was irrelevant. He felt nothing, thought of nothing, there was only tranquillity and it was a gratifying feeling. If he could stay like this any longer it would be wonderful but he realised that it was taking too long and he was looking forward to seeing familiar faces. So with more effort than he thought he would, he slowly opened his eyes.
Quickly the recognisable ceiling of his room with Dante came into focus. Ah, he was back. How long had he been asleep? It must have been a long time as his body was completely numb and ached all over. Even though he had been sleeping he felt tired, very tired, to the point where his eyelids were heavy again and threatening to close and he couldn’t help it. A large, warm hand moved over his head, tangling in his hair and massaging him, and he was fast asleep again.
By the time he managed to wake up and sleep wasn’t the only thing that was uppermost in his body he heard faint voices around him and a familiar warmth all around him. He smiled softly. The arm around his waist was thin, while the body on the other side was a little larger.
-When is he going to wake up,” Sacha’s voice sounded distressed.
-Edgar said to wait for his body to rest, he overexerted himself,” this time it was Fallen who spoke, his voice a little more distant but his weight tilting the mattress slightly to one side.
-But he’s already slept for three days,” Axel pressed himself closer to the omega’s arm, “And Dante only let us see him today, the cheapskate.
-The alpha has been taking care of him,” Matias mentioned from the other side of the bed, even if his relationship with his family wasn’t entirely mended, he was doing his best to forget the traces of the past.
-Don’t protest anymore,” Lukyan articulated with difficulty after listening to the conversation between his sons, seeing that they were already getting along was gratifying for him.
-MA,” exclaimed the four of them at the same time, creating a constant motion on the bed as they all sat around him.
Lukyan was finally able to open his eyes. The pain that bothered him earlier as well as the tiredness had faded and he wanted to get out of bed as soon as possible. The faces of his sons were soon in his line of vision and he could see their eyes mist over with tears.
-Don’t cry, you fools, I’m fine,” he slowly sat up, helped by Fallen, and pulled each of them into his arms, hugging them, kissing them and wiping away their tears, even Matthias left in his arms without resistance. Touching them, that they were alive and well was the best thing about winning against Ryan.
Ryan. His name echoed in his head and he couldn’t remember his face despite all the years by his side. The only image that remained was one she wanted to forget as soon as possible. She didn’t want even him to get a moment in her thoughts. He didn’t deserve it. He didn’t deserve anything.
Bastian entered the room a quarter of an hour later and saw the four puppies talking to their mother sitting in the middle of the bed and for a moment he wanted to be there. Her husband had been injured, not seriously, but he hadn’t had enough rest on the grounds that he had to help the alpha. Dante had had enough of nagging him, but Falco didn’t care if he punished him for disobeying him, he wanted to support him.
The situation was a little unstable at the moment. The wolves of the Iron Pack were stranded on their lands and they were caring for them, especially the most physically and mentally injured. The twin alphas of the Council had gone to stabilise the situation in the confines of the pack where some wolves were to remain, bringing supplies and preparing the conditions for them to return. They still had to replace an alpha to lead them, but that would have to wait until the Council could decide, so in the meantime Lucian was in charge. He was the only one strong enough to be able to lead such a number of wolves.
Lukyan turned his attention away from his sons as he heard him enter and smiled at him, lifting the corners of his mouth. He was in the mood to do so and found it was no bad thing. The wolf approached and gave him a deep bow.
-I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” the guilt from that day when Dante had been poisoned was still inside him and he still hadn’t had a chance to apologize.
-Why are you sorry? You’ve done nothing wrong,” Lukyan bowed his head, “You’ve taken good care of my children, I’m very grateful for that.
-But I,” Bastian rose and his eyes filled with tears, collapsing after so many days of tension, “I didn’t try to understand you that day, I…” Lukyan could hardly understand what he was saying.
Lukyan could barely understand what he was saying as his voice had become pasty.
-Ma, you made him cry,” commented Sacha, shaking his arm.
-That’s bad, Ma,” Axel followed him, and there was a drop of amusement in his words.
-Puppies, you shut up,” he replied in the same tone, “You should take Bastian’s side instead of mine, I can tell you’ve been with him for a long time.
That made Bastian himself let out a tearful smile.
-You don’t have to cry,” Lukyan got up from the bed and approached him, “You’re the only one I trust to take care of my children, so I’m counting on you from here on out.
The wolf nodded his head vigorously, shaking his hair. Fallen felt good to see that her mother had good chemistry with the members of Dante’s pack. The days his mother had been unconscious, even though they couldn’t see him, he had given them details about her condition the whole time. She understood that he didn’t want them to see him in that state. He hid it but he didn’t just think about his partner all the time, they were important to him too.
Bastian took the pups to give them lunch after catching him up on the latest events and Lukyan found himself alone in the room again, really bored. The last few days had been very stifling so sitting around doing nothing was worse than torture. Putting on some appropriate clothes he left the room. He wanted to see if he could do anything to support his wolf and lighten the beta’s load or the one who would collapse with worry would be Bastian.
The mansion was empty. The corridors were deserted, at least on the first floor. Once he reached the first floor he heard murmuring coming from the central hall, the largest and normally unused room. As he peeked in, he noticed that it was full. Many wolves from both packs were lying in rows on thin mattresses and were covered. Some were injured, especially the sleeping ones, and others were being treated or fed by the healthy wolves and wolves from Dante’s pack.
Lukyan just made to enter and all eyes were on him and he could feel the weight.
-Queen-
-Queen-
There were exclamations and some wolves smiled at him as they noticed his arrival.
-Are you all right?
-How are you feeling?
The questions began to flow and Lukyan could only answer in short sentences as he soon found himself surrounded. A hand grabbed him from behind and pulled him down against a broad, hard chest.
-Don’t suffocate him, he needs rest too,” Dante stood behind him and wrapped his arm around his waist.
The wolves nodded and reluctantly stepped back, wanting to talk some more with the wolf who had been able to destroy a wolf as large and aggressive as his last enemy had been. Lukyan let himself fall backwards and let the heat and the masculine scent envelop him completely. His legs trembled and his skin itched. A need for his touch coursed through him and he rubbed against the large body.
-Lukyan, come with me, you and I need to talk,” Dante didn’t sound like he normally did, he sounded more serious than usual.
Tangling her fingers in his, she led him out of the crowded room and into the other room for more privacy. Once she stopped, she released him and faced him. Her eyes were heavy with fury, even though there were dark circles under them.
-Don’t ever do that again,” she restrained herself from screaming, “Don’t ever control me again. Do you know how I felt when I couldn’t move, when I couldn’t help you, when I saw Ryan almost kill you? I almost went crazy.
Lukyan said nothing. He imagined the wolf would react like that. He just took a step forward and wrapped his arms around Dante’s waist, hugging him tightly, burying his face in his chest. Dante didn’t respond to the embrace at first but after a few seconds he let out a content sigh and squeezed him tightly seeking his neck with his lips to leave a visible mark.
-I’m sorry, but if I didn’t, I was the one who was afraid of losing you,” saying his feelings for Dante out loud felt really good, “You’re important to me Dante, very important, I don’t know how it would be if I didn’t have you by my side,” he left a k**s on his chest.
Dante’s hands ran up and down his back hard, impregnating his scent on him, and leaving a hand on his buttock which he squeezed hard. His body was tense but he was still happy that the omega reciprocated in every way.
-Promise me you’ll never do anything like that again,” he whispered against her ear which he licked, biting the lobe afterwards.
-Only if you promise me the same.
Dante’s chest vibrated.
-There’s no way I can win against you, my wolf,” he broke away to k**s his forehead and moved down to his lips, devouring them greedily. A quiet moment just for them.
Lukyan put his hands on his chest and pulled away slightly.
-Dante, I have to tell you something,” she was now sure she could tell him. She knew the chances of the puppy she carried in her womb being born because of her omega nature was great, but now, with the b***d of the alphas within her and from talking to her son in some way, she could tell him that she would have a son of her own for sure.
She took Dante’s hand and brought it to her belly. His child was barely a grain of sand but he could feel it, its enormous power and how it was growing every second. And he realised that Dante knew what he meant when he looked at him with wide eyes in an attempt to process the information.
