A Drunken Decision ( Annabelle Ross ) -
A Drunken Decision Cynthia Chapter 67
Chapter 67
Carly was not aware that Lucas was married. Although the two families were close, and they had always been on good terms, Carly had been busy with the company’s matters these few days and did not pay much attention to anything else. She was surprised that the man she thought well of was married within a few days. Moreover, his wife was already pregnant with his child. What was Yolanda going to do?
Carly knew how Yolanda felt. She was resolved to marry the most outstanding man in their circle. Although she met several excellent men, she was determined that Lucas was the one she wanted.
Lucas never had any close female companions all this while. Carly even thought that he might be waiting for Yolanda to return from overseas. After all, when they were young, he did say that he would marry Yolanda when they grew up. Although they could not take a child’s promise seriously, it was not impossible that he might keep his word.
How could Lucas be married to Annabelle? Yolanda had just returned.
“We registered our marriage a few months ago,” Lucas replied politely. “We plan to hold the wedding after the child is born. That’s why we didn’t announce this to everyone.”
“Oh, I see!” Carly laughed dryly. As she was unable to accept the news for the time being, she was in no mood to continue chatting with the couple. She led them into the house before excusing herself. “Hurry up and get in. Most of the guests have arrived. Have a good time. Remember to take good care of Annabelle.”
“Of course!” Lucas nodded before leading Annabelle into the house.
The courtyard of the Littleton manor was similar to the Walker’s. However, it looked very different that day. The entire place was decorated with lanterns and colorful banners, looking very lively.
As soon as they reached the door, they saw that the courtyard was already filled with guests. Lucas raised his eyebrows. The party seemed to be rather grand.
Annabelle followed Lucas to the courtyard. Under the dazzling lights, she could see many young men and women. The men were in suits and leather shoes. The women were graceful, and they were wearing all kinds of evening gowns. Annabelle lowered her head and looked at her dress. Was she too casually dressed?
However, Annabelle did not want to wear an evening gown with her big belly. A pregnant woman should wear loose and comfortable clothes. Moreover, Lucas had her maternity clothes custom–made. It still looked very beautiful.
Thinking so, Annabelle no longer felt out of place. Lucas helped her to remove her coat, and she handed it to the servant. She then walked into the courtyard, linking arms with Lucas.
Yolanda was the hostess that day. She was chattering and laughing merrily with the guests.
Annabelle thought, “Yolanda is impressive. She must be a very sociable and popular lady.”
Yolanda also caught sight of Lucas and Annabelle. She immediately left the guest who was talking to her and walked up to the couple with a smile. Her skirt swayed, and her feet were not visible on the floor. She looked as though she was floating.
“I’ve been looking forward to seeing you!” Yolanda looked at Lucas and smiled warmly. “Come quickly. I’ll introduce you to a few ladies to you. They’re different from your wife. They’re all career women. You may get the chance to work with them in
the future.”
Immediately after saying that, Yolanda seemed to realize that she had said something wrong. She hurriedly explained to Annabelle. “Annabelle, don’t mind me. I’m too blunt. I don’t mean to despise you. Housewives are also respectable people.”
Annabelle looked at Yolanda innocently. She did not think that Yolanda despised her. She felt that the latter’s explanation
was unnecessary.
“Yolanda, you don’t have to explain. I don’t see anything wrong with what you just said.” Annabelle said, “I understand, though. Smart people like to think too much.”

Yolanda was rendered speechless by Annabelle’s response.
The smile on Yolanda’s face froze inomentarily. She wondered if Annabelle was stupid or if she was pretending to be stupid. Did she think the statement was a compliment or a derogatory remark?
There’s no need to introduce them to me.” Lucas had no interest in those career women. He asked Yolanda, who still looked stunned. “Where’s Josh and the others? I’ll go and look for them.
“Go ahead then. They’re playing cards in the lounge on the second floor. Annabelle, don’t go. They are all smoking upstairs. Come here and have a chat with us. Don’t worry, Luas. She’s your wife. I’ll take good care of her for you.” Yolanda held Annabelle’s hand affectionately and assured Lucas.
Lucas did not leave even after Yolanda’s assurance. Instead, he looked at Annabelle and asked her if she wanted to stay with Yolanda or follow him. It did not matter if she did not want him to look for his friends too.
Annabelle thought about it and felt that it did not matter to her. She waved her hand and asked Lucas to join his friend, saying that she would look for him later.
“All right.” Lucas nodded. He was not worried that anyone would bully Annabelle. No one would dare to bully his wife. “Don’t wander around. I’ll come down and look for replace you in a while.”
“Okay.” Annabelle nodded obediently.
After watching Lucas leave, Yolanda wanted to bring Annabelle to meet her friends. Just then, someone called out to Yolanda. She sounded very anxious.
I’m sorry. Can you walk around yourself first? I’ll come back in a while, Yolanda said apologetically to Annabelle.
Annabelle waved her hand nonchalantly. She did not seem bothered at all. “Yolanda, please go ahead and attend to your matters. I’ll be fine.”
“Okay.” Yolanda smiled and left in a hurry.
Annabelle looked around the banquet hall. She did not know any of the guests. They were gathered in groups and were either talking or laughing with each other. Occasionally, they would look at her, but when she looked over, they would look away. She could feel a barrier between them.
Seeing this, Annabelle did not force herself to mingle with people she was not comfortable with. She was not bothered that no one spoke to her. When she saw the dessert counter, her eyes lit up. She no longer felt lost.
There were not many people eating at the party. Everyone was drinking wine as they chatted with each other cordially.
Annabelle was one of the rare guests who were eyeing the food with glee.
Just as Annabelle was about to take a piece of cake, someone suddenly pointed at the cake beside her and said, “This cake tastes really good.”
Annabelle turned around and saw a young lady with round eyes. When she saw Annabelle looking over, her fair face turned
red.
Afraid that Annabelle would not believe her, she repeated, “It’s true!”
“Thank you.” Annabelle took the cake that the girl had pointed at and thanked her with a smile.
Hazel was very happy that Annabelle took her advice. She introduced herself politely. “You’re welcome. My name is Hazel Underhill. Who are you?”
“My name is Annabelle Ross” Annabelle said with a smile. Before she could continue, Hazel became excited.
“Are you Lucas‘ wife? You’re so beautiful!” Hazel looked at Annabelle’s exquisite face and sighed. She was even more beautiful than her favorite celebrity.
