Chapter 62 Visiting an Old Friend

In the blink of an eye, two days had passed unnoticed. The Gray family’s much–awaited IPO was only three days away, and everyone was bustling with preparations, sending out invitations to first–tier and second–tier families. Even a small number of third–tier families who received an invitation were suddenly filled with pride and capital.

Due to their longstanding feud with Lucian, the Harrison family had managed to secure an invitation. Henry was planning to invite them to witness Lucian’s gruesome demise firsthand at the ceremony.

The Gray family’s IPO was already a shocking event for the entire Sioux, but Lucian’s daring challenge had become the main attraction. Countless people were eagerly anticipating how Lucian would stop The Gray family’s IPO. To many, it was nothing short of a joke.

The Gray family had been preparing for this IPO for such a long time. How could they possibly be stopped by a mere Lucian?

Three days later, on the day of The Gray family’s IPO, Lucian would meet his tragic end.

Inside the Presidential Suite at the Mellow Great Hotel, Lucian sat by the floor–to–ceiling window, smoking a cigarette. His gaze was fixed on the Gray Group building in the distance, his eyes filled with a deep sense of gloom. With only three days left until The Gray family went public, he planned to give them a “special” gift.

“Mr. War God, our overseas team is ready to arrest the Gray Group employees at any time, preventing them from participating in the IPO,” Liam entered the room with a list in his hand and stood in front of Lucian. “This list contains Gray Group’s partners all well–known enterprises that have contributed greatly to The Gray family’s IPO.”

Lucian took the list and scanned through it in one swift motion.

These companies‘ names were all too familiar to Lucian. There were three from out of town and two local ones, Hope Group and Radianz Group, all of which were well–known, powerful entities. in Sioux that could make the ground shake with a single stomp.

Once upon a time, they were not so mighty. It was only through cooperation with Lucian’s father, Alexander, that they attained their current stature.

To be blunt, they owed seventy percent of their success to Alexander.

“I plan to give them a chance to make up for their mistakes,” Lucian said, crumpling up the list and looking up at Liam. “Go talk to the three companies from out of town, tell them that I need their help to stop the Gray family’s IPO, and ask if they’re willing to stand with me, even if it’s just because of my father’s reputation.”

Liam furrowed his brow. “Mr. War God, there’s really no need for that. You only need to say one

word, and Vandergrift will completely shut down the Gray family. With your status, do you really need anyone else’s help?”

“Don’t waste my time,” Lucian said coldly. “I told you to do it, so you’ll do it. Whether they’re at man or a dog, this time, I’m going to see it clearly.”

“Okay.”

Liam nodded lightly and left.

After Liam left, Lucian’s gaze focused on the Hope Group building. A faint smile appeared on his lips as he said, “Horatio, it’s been years since we last met. I wonder how you’re doing now. It’s time. to pay a visit.”

Twenty minutes later.

Lucian arrived at Hope Residential with a box of apples. This property was developed by the Hope Group and was the residence of Horatio, the owner of the company. He stood at the door and pressed the doorbell.

“Who’s there?”

Soon, a woman’s voice came from inside, and the door was opened.

“Auntie, I’m Lucian, Alexander’s son.”

Lucian said to Horatio’s wife, Wendy.

Upon seeing Lucian, Wendy’s forehead wrinkled in disgust, especially when she noticed the fruit in his hands. “What do you want with Horatio?” she asked, her tone clearly indicating her displeasure. “We’re having a family dinner and don’t want to be disturbed.”

“Let him in,” a male voice from inside called out.

Although Wendy still didn’t want to let Lucian in, the head of the household had spoken, and she begrudgingly allowed him in, admonishing him to “remember to change your shoes, they’re too dirty!”

“Okay, Lucian smiled faintly and changed into a pair of slippers.

“Lucian, what brings you here?” Horatio, in his pajamas and smoking a cigarette, asked from his seat at the dining table,

Sitting next to Horatio were James and Ysbel, his eldest son and youngest daughter. As they saw the apples in Lucian’s hands, a sneer appeared on their faces.

Poor people are poor people, coming to visit us and bringing only a box of apples. Is he begging

for food?

Ysbel rolled her eyes at Lucian and smirked, “It’s obvious he’s here to ask for your help, Dad. Almost everyone in Sioux knows that Lucian is challenging the Gray family and threatening to stop Gray Group’s listing. He couldn’t possibly do it alone, right?”

Horatio chuckled and started to speak, “Why would Lucian come to me for help…”

Before Horatio could finish, Lucian nodded calmly and said, “Uncle Horatio, Ysbel is right. I came here to ask for your help. You had a good relationship with my father back in the day, and now that I’m in trouble, I hope you can lend me a hand.”

As soon as Lucian finished speaking, the living room fell silent, and everyone’s eyes were fixed on him.

James, Ysbel, and Wendy all wore disdainful expressions on their faces. This guy really thinks highly of himself, huh? Sure, his father was something back in the day, but now he’s nothing but dust. Who even remembers his father?

“Your father?” Horatio snuffed out his cigarette and laughed heartily. “You must be talking about Alexander, right? Sorry to say, I don’t know him.”

This made Lucian’s eyes flash with coldness. “What do you mean?‘

“What do I mean? Isn’t it obvious?” Horatio sneered. “I had a good relationship with back in the day, but only because of his business acumen and vision. Now, your father has been dead for seven years, and he’s nothing but dust. What does he have to do with me?”

Lucian’s face darkened, but he remained silent.

James grinned maliciously, “Lucian, you’re just a clueless animal. You dared to provoke the Gray family. Who do you think you are? Do you really believe that my father would help you? Hahaha, that’s ridiculous!

“So, does that mean you won’t help me? You’ll help the Gray Group instead?” Lucian hesitated, asking.

Horatio didn’t even need to think about it. He nodded heavily and said, “Of course, I’ll help the Gray Group. They’re about to go public and become one of the three great families. What benefits can you bring to Hope Group? Why should I help a useless person like you? But, if you bow to me twice, I might spare your miserable life on behalf of the Gray family. Hahaha!”

“Got it. Hope Group is now my enemy,” Lucian said coldly, his expression unchanged.

“Hahaha!” Hearing Lucian’s words, the group burst into laughter.

Especially Horatio, his eyes were full of disdain, he didn’t even consider Lucian as a worthy opponent. He spoke, “You foolish creature. Without your father, you are nothing but a useless waste of space. I have no idea how Alexander could have fathered someone like you. You see me as an enemy, but I don’t even consider you as one. You’re nothing but a mere ant in my eyes. Do you understand?”

“It was my father who helped lift Hope Group to its current status.”

Lucian stood up and spoke slowly, “In that case, on the day that the Gray family goes public, I will take back everything that my father gave to you, and I will make sure that the Turner family never has the chance to rise again!”
