Chapter 111

While Leah was in the washroom, Luther grabbed the opportunity and asked Sage, “What's goingon? Who's upsetting you?”

Sage took a sip of her sake; she did not say a word.

Hunter explained the afternoon's events, from beginning to end. Luther immediately understoodand said, “Pfft, he's just trying to buy you a meal. It's no big deal.”

Sage slammed her glass on the table, looking frustrated. “You got it the other way around. He wantsme to buy him a meal!”

“Fine, fine,” Luther corrected his mistake and said, “It's okay, just treat him to a meal. It's not like youcan't afford it. Furthermore, h e is bringing the porcelain plates, right? One meal in exchange forfour porcelain plates? That is totally worth it.”

Sage looked at Luther coldly and scowled, “It's not about the plates! I don't want to have a mealwith him!"

"Okay, see now. This is all your fault,” said Luther. “You set the conditions and he agreed to them. So, now you have to fulfill your end of the bargain. It's just a meal. You have to eat anyway; youshould not make a big deal out of it, okay?”

"If Jace offered the porcelain plates to me, I would definitely do it.” To Luther, this was definitely afair trade.

Sage squinted at him and said, “You don't have any principles, do you?”.

“I throw out the principles if there is a good deal,” said Luther, nonchalantly.

Wanting to further imitate her, Luther continued, “In fact, you taught me this. You used to doanything when you see a good bargain You even worked for a month in the suburbs just so youcould get that lousy noodle shop. And now, this is below you?”

Luther went on and on, and Sage could not even mount a good defense for her actions.

He was right about the antique scene. You had to be willing to use your charms and do anything inexchange for some precious antiques. She had lost the bidding war the last time she had seen Jace. Now, Jace was the one presenting her with this opportunity, how could she pass it up?

Sage shook her head and laughed a hard laugh. “You're right. I've gotten too personal. It's just onemeal, one meal, and I'll get the plates. I'll do it!"

"Attagirl,” Luther said. He knew his sister was a smart girl. She only acted this way when Jace wasinvolved. “Remember, the both o f you are divorced. You don't have to go easy on him. Take it. It'swhat you deserve.”

Sage smirked and said, “You're right, salute!”

They toasted

Leah came back from the washroom and found Sage happily enjoying her sea urchin. Shocked, sheasked, “What did I miss this time?”

“Nothing much,” said Hunter. “Don’t mind her antics.”

Confused, Leah turned to Sage. “Sage is kind. She wouldn't hurt a fly.”

Sage nodded at her cousin, agreeing with her.

Hunter and Luther both shook their heads in unison. They were eager to dispel the spell that Leahand Sage were under. “She's not as kind as you think she is. Darling Leah, listen to me. Never makean enemy out of Sage. It will never end well.”
