Chapter 399

Asher's current situation was almost the same as Jace's situation before. Back then, Jace had aperiod of extreme impatience. He was filled with anger and treated everyone as enemies.

The closest ones would be the ones who would be hurt most.

Sage thought that things would turn better after hard days that were finally over. Who knew that itwas the beginning of the worst. There was nothing but darkness after the hardest days. Sage wasabout to say something with an icy face. Then, a soft voice came from behind her. “If he tries tomove impatiently in the future, tie him up and don’t spoil him. He's a strong man. You should ratherhurt him than yourself.”

Sage turned back and saw Jace's indifferent face. As their eyes met, Sage’s face turned icier. Then, she looked away, took off her medical gloves, and went to the bathroom to wash her hands.Looking at Lulu’s injuries, Jace's eyes turned a little gloomy. “Asher is worried about you and toldme to check on you.”

The girl who almost fainted in pain was cheered up because this sentence carried no weight. Hereyes lit up again. “Is he worried? How is he? Are his injuries serious?”

Sage remained silent. She was washing her hands under the faucet and rubbed her hands hard. Forsome reason, it was cold, irritable, and sour inside. She was also like Lulu once. She knew that theperson she loved did not love her, but she was easily moved by his caring words and just a simplelook in his eyes. She had always dreamed that he loved her!

Even so, why would a man who loved her hurt her? The one who loved first was always the loser. She would be hurt deeper the longer she loved. It was best to get out early before getting hurt.Lulu was transferred to the ward from the emergency room. Once the anesthetic wore off, it wasanother round of pain.

Sage told her to go to sleep. “Get some sleep. The pain will go away soon.” Lulu shook her head. How could she sleep?”. “Dr. S, did Mister Yuriel and you used to be a couple?”

She struggled and said, “I heard it from the nurses. Mister Yuriel got into a serious car accident andwas paraplegic too. You took good care of him and even married him. Is that true?

Sage did not know who spread the news, but there was no secret in the world. It was the same inthe hospital.

Sage replied with a faint hum, “I married him, but we divorced.”

you divorce? I can tell that Mister Yuriel still has

"Why?" Lulu could not understand. “Why feelings for you...” “You might have seen it wrongly.”Sage's eyes remained calm. She answered expressionlessly, “He doesn't love me. He married mebecause of his mother's order. I was just a wallflower. As for now... who knows?”

She curled her lips in disdain. “Maybe he's just unwilling to accept reality. Why would a woman whoonly has him in her eyes and love him so wholeheartedly leave so suddenly and

stop loving him?”

Lulu stared at her with her dewy eyes. “Do you still love him now?"

With a heavenward glance, Sage twitched her lips a little and said four words to her. At last, Lulu'sheart sank.
