Chapter 426

The construction of the Northern Suburb’s racecourse looked to be almost complete. All that is leftwas the importation of horses. After that, the racecourse would be open for business.

Amongst the three business partners, only Sage and Yoel came, Jace was nowhere to be seen.

The plan was for Yoel to be responsible for the day-to-day management of the racecourse. After all, over 80 percent of the racecourses in Riverside City are managed by the Fulton family. The Fultonfamily has all the required connections and sources to run a successful racecourse.

Everybody stood on the grass under the blazing sun, most were dressed down in casual clothes, sneakers, sunglasses, and their bodyguards were by their side holding up an umbrella to block offthe sun.

When they walked around the racecourse, Yoel took the time to explain things the others,” Thehorses arriving today are mostly ponies. We have some Debao ponies and some Shetland poniesthat were originally meant for my dad's racecourse. I took all but two of his ponies.”

Sage raised her eyebrows, “Your dad is fine with this?”

"Of course not! He was furious and accused me of betraying my family for some woman that isn'teven my wife!” said Yoel. He could still feel the slight pain emanating from his back where he wasstruck by his father's cane. “He wasn't wrong though, my marriage is more important, that's why Iasked him, which is more important, my marriage or his ponies.” Melody was nodding along to theconversation when she suddenly poked her head out, “So, what was your father's answer?” Yoelpointed to the stables, “That was his answer.” Everybody could see the ponies that were in thestable. Melody's gaze followed Yoel's finger and saw the ponies grazing in the stables. Her eyes litup as she walked up to the stables, “Wow, they're so cute!” The ponies looked petite and resembleda pet more than an actual horse. Yoel walked over to the stable and saw the glittering eyes ofMelody. He smiled and said, “Pick one, I'll give it to you.” “Really?” said Melody, her eyes lighting upwith glee. Melody had always been treated like a princess by everybody around her, she wasn'tgoing to act coy now that Yoel said that he would give her a pony. She pointed to a spotted blackpony,” I'll take this one! It looks like Ross!” Sage couldn't help but feel sorry for Ross. If he were herehe would have been furious from such a comment. However, when Sage took a closer look at thepony Melody chose. It really did look kind of similar to Ross...

Not long after, everybody was already in their gear and was ready to ride around the course. Leahhad never been on a horse before, so she dared not to sit on one. As such, Hunter picked out apony for her and helped her get on. Even after getting on a pony, Leah was still quite unfamiliarwith horse riding and she seemed to always be on the verge of falling off the pony. Hunter couldn'thelp but grin when he saw how tight Leah was holding onto the reins. “Don’t worry, you won't falldown. Relax and enjoy the ride,” encouraged Hunter. Melody was the opposite of Leah; she lookedconfident and poised. She got on the pony she picked out earlier and started spurring on her pony,"Come on Ross, let's go!”

Even if the ponies looked small, they were still quite adept at running and their stamina was notsomething to laugh at. The pony immediately started galloping around the course with that oneprompt. Both Sage and Yoel had prior experience with horse riding and they naturally got on ahorse. Ponies were pets to them and not meant for serious riding. After all, it would be a shame tocome to a racecourse and not ride an actual horse. As such, they each picked out a horse and hadthem be led out of the stables by the employees. Yoel had his full gear on, clad in black and white,he looked impressive and smart. Yoel looked at Sage who wore red and white gear and lookedequally good. He said to Sage, “Want to race?” “Sure,” replied Sage nonchalantly. Just as Yoel wasabout to laugh, a sudden cry for help rang throughout the course. “Help! Help!” Looking at thesource of the cries, one could see Melody holding on to the reins for dear life as her pony gallopedat full speed, tearing through the course. Since it was Melody’s first time on a pony, she had no ideahow to control her steed and she looked like she was on the verge of falling off!
