A Relentless Pursuit for Love -
Chapter 431
Chapter 431 Zayne knew the answer before he asked the question. As such, he replied to his bossprofessionally, “Noted.” All the residents of Salem City were shocked to see how quickly the clearskies gave way to a sudden downpour of rain. Sage was just as confused too. She was still in thecafe of the racecourse discussing the details of the racecourse when the lights suddenly flickered fora moment and then popped. The manager immediately rushed through the rain and into the cafe.He explained to Sage that the sudden malfunction was because of the monthly reparations of theracecourse’s electrical grid and the sudden storm that caused the workers to stop the reparationsdue to health hazards. As such, the electricity would only be back on after the storm resides. Sageremained calm and told the manager to prioritize the health and safety of their workers first. Yoelalso chimed in, “Safety first!” After he said that, a small nimble person darted up the ladder in thecorner of the room. Of course, it was Melody who had darted up the ladder and is now currentlytip-toeing on the highest rung, trying to reach a bird's nest on the top of the bookshelf. The ladderwas slightly swaying from the motion and looked like it was about to collapse.
Yoel saw her and immediately rushed up to the ladder to steady it with his hand. He looked atMelody and asked, “Kid, what are you doing?”
Melody took the bird's nest off of the bookshelf and looked straight into Yoel's eyes. Melody onlythen realized that the bird's nest was made up of plastic and the birds were sewn into the nest. Thebirds were so lively that they seemed to be real birds when seen from afar. Melody pursed her lipstogether and said, “I thought it was real.”
“It looks a little like you,” said Melody as she looked at Yoel.
Yoel was rendered speechless by her recklessness, he could only reply oddly, “I don't care if it lookslike me or not, all I know is that you should get down from there, right now!” Melody lookedseriously at Yoel and said, “I'm the type of kid that only listens to advice and not commands. Itdoesn't matter if you intimidate me or scold me, I wouldn't comply.”
Yoel didn't know what to say to her.
Without looking up from her phone, Sage said, “Melody, get down from there now if you don't wantyour ass to get whooped.” “Okay,” said Melody and immediately got down the ladder. However, itmight have been because of Sage's words that caused an incident. Melody was in a hurry to getdown from the ladder and her foot slipped on a rung and she fell. Her arms immediately extendedout to try and catch anything that might break her fall. Of course, the closest person to her was Yoeland she dove headfirst toward him.
The next thing Yoel felt was his jaw colliding with her head. After the strong impact, he could evensee stars around his eyes. Even if he was already quite dizzy from the collision, his hand still held onto Melody tightly.
The sudden commotion alarmed Sage. When Sage finally turned around, she saw Melody clingingonto Yoel tightly, laughing maniacally. Yoel took a good few seconds until he could finally recoverand asked Melody, “Were you born in the year of the monkey? Why do you like to cling ontothings?” “How did you know that?" asked Melody. Sage walked towards them and saw Melody'shand around Yoel’s neck and her legs coiled around his waist, dangling on him like a monkeydangling on a tree branch. She immediately ordered Emilly, “Get down, right now!” Sage was theonly person that Melody feared. When she heard her say that, she immediately jumped off of Yoel. The next thing Melody knew, her ear was being pulled by Sage and towards the corner of the room.“Ahhhh, it hurts,” complained Melody. Yoel rubbed his jaw — which was still slightly aching — and feltthe warmth of the Melody earlier which caused his ears to go red. He pursed his lips and beratedhimself for the intrusive thoughts in his mind.
