Olivia POS

I smile at her and we head for Freya's room, arriving to replace her on the white bed. She's almost the same colour as the sheets, seeing her like this fills me with grief and I start to cry. I go over to her and take her hand. -Don't let us down Freya, I beg you...

The regular beeping of the machine becomes more than a long thud, signifying that her heart has stopped...

Present

POS Fabien

The doctors storm into my love's room and Olivia and Summer run into their soulmate's arms to cry. I go up to them and ask:

-What's going on?

-She's... she's..." began Olivia.

-Dead..." finished Summer.

What? No! It's not possible, she can't leave me like this! If only she'd listened to me she wouldn't be dead today and she could have seen Olivia and Matteo's baby.

I run to her room, but the nurses stop me.

-We're sorry, but you can't come in.

My tears start to flow again when I see his white body. I stop struggling and fall to my knees.

-I'm sorry, sir, we did everything we could to keep her alive, but her heart stopped.

A nurse stops and the doctor tells her:

-Time of death, 6:53pm.

She leaves again.

-Could I go and see her?

He nods.

I run into the room and take my baby in my arms.

-Why did you leave me? I need you Freya, if you die I die, I can't live without you. I know you're already dead and I'm going to join you soon, but I just want to tell you before I go that Olivia and Mattéo have had a little boy and he's called Zack... I pick up my gun and before firing, I give Freya a kiss on the forehead, then on the cheeks and finally on the mouth. Her lips are cold and lifeless, and I put the gun to my head and say:

-I love you, Freya, and I'm going to follow you wherever you go...

I remove the safety catch and just as I'm about to fire a hand lands on my arm.

-Mattéo, please let me go to her, I can't live without her!

I hear coughing, so I turn round to see Freya with tears in her eyes.

-Oh my god my baby.

I run to take her in my arms.

-You're alive!

She smiles weakly at me and closes her eyes.

Freya POS

I wake up and see Fabien with a gun to my head, so I put my hand on his arm to stop him firing.

-Mattéo, please let me go to her, I can't live without her!

The tears well up, it's very moving what he's just said, he turns round and gives me a hug. I don't really understand what's happening and I'm tired, so I close my eyes and fall asleep. Fabien POS

I leave the room and go to tell the doctors that she's not dead, they run to her room and do lots of tests. I sit down on a chair, the others have left, so I call them and tell them she's not dead. A few hours later, the doctors come back. -She's fine, but I've got some bad news...

-The baby...

-Yes, the baby didn't get everything it needed when she was "dead". So when she delivers it, it will be a stillborn baby. We did an abortion so that she wouldn't have to look after a stillborn baby for five months and so that you could try again to have another one. -Thank you. I'll go to her room and look at her.

I go into her room and watch her sleep, it's my favourite moment in the morning, when she's still asleep, I admire her sleeping and I tell myself how lucky I am to have her as my soulmate. Sure, she's got a temper, but I've got the most beautiful woman in the world and I wouldn't trade her for anything. I put my head on her stomach and fall asleep myself.

PVD Freya

I wake up to a feeling of pressure on my stomach, I look to see what it is and I see Fabien's head. I run my fingers through his hair and stroke his cheek with my thumb. He opens one eye and when he sees me he smiles. He kisses my belly and kisses me passionately. -I've got something to tell you...

-If it's about the baby, I already know and I'm extremely sorry, it's all my fault.

-Don't be silly Freya, the girls told me about the promise and I'm sorry I stopped you going to see her.

We kissed and left the hospital a few hours later. When we got home, Fabien picked me up like a princess and laid me on our bed. He kisses me and whispers in my ear:

He smiled at me and we had the best night of our lives.

The next morning, we were having breakfast when the doorbell rang. I went to open the door and saw Olivia and Mattéo. When they see me, they look like they've seen a ghost. -Have you seen a ghost or what?

They look at each other, then I notice that Mattéo is holding their little boy, and I start to cry, thinking that it would have been us in four months' time...

-Freya! Who are they?

-Olivia and Mattéo," I say, sobbing.

I hear Fabien run up and give me a hug, he beckons our friends to come in while he consoles me.

-Why are you crying, my love?

-I'm imagining you and me with the baby as Olivia and Mattéo were when they arrived...

-I see, don't cry like that, sweetheart...

I stand up and go to see our guests. Olivia jumps on me and starts to cry and so do I, again.

-Why are you crying? Mattéo asks.

-Because I missed her.

-I miss her.

I look up and ask Olivia in a whisper.

-What's my nephew's name?

-Zack.

-That's very nice.

-What's yours? How's the baby?

-I've lost him.

-I'm so sorry, I should never have asked, you want to see Zack.
