Alpha Queen -
Chapter 59
Liviana’s POV
I got up for yet another day. I looked out of my balcony to see if Luan was already outside since he’s usually already waiting at this time.
But he wasn’t there.
Maybe he’s just a little late.
I went to my bathroom and showered then got dressed for school.
I went down and saw El in the kitchen eating breakfast. I peeked outside to look if Luan was already there but he still wasn’t.
This is the first time that he’s actually late.
It’s weird.
I joined El for breakfast.
“Will you give me a ride to school?” El said batting his eyelashes at me. I cringed.
“You know how to drive” I said and he pouted.
“Yeah but I’m too lazy to do it now since Luan always gives me a ride” he said with a sigh.
“Then wait for him” I said.
“I don’t think he’s coming today” he said.
But why?
“Then you have no choice but to drive” I said and stood up then gave him a pat on the back before making my way out of the pack house.
I saw Dante with Edmond coming from the direction of the training grounds.
“Good morning, princess. Heading off to school now?” Dante greeted and gave me a k**s on the top of my head.
“Yeah” I simply answered then he looked around.
“Grey isn’t trying to pick you up?” he asked again and I shrugged.
“I’m going. Bye, uncle. Bye Edmond” I said and waved them goodbye before going on my motorbike and driving off.
I wonder why he didn’t come.
Did he already give up?
But he seemed okay just last night.
So what’s wrong?
“You’re regretting giving mate a hard time now huh” Amaris popped in my head.
“Don’t start with me, Amaris. You know why I had to do it” I retorted.
“Liviana, I love you, I do. And I understand why you’re scared of taking a risk with our mate. But have you ever realized how unfair you have been to him?” she said.
“Unfair how?” I asked with my brows furrowed and my hands clenching on the handles tightly.
“It’s his nature to be possessive over his mate that’s why he’s always been like that whenever you’re around mateless wolves or Blake. But he changed that because you’d always lash out on him and end up fighting. He became as understanding as he can and even agreed to give you space. Of course he’ll feel betrayed to see you being intimate with Blake when he’s our mate and we barely let him do that” she started as I accelerated.
“He’s always been the one to adjust for us. The one who keeps chasing us when YOU try to push him away and distance yourself” she huffed.
I sighed.
“You know that I’m trying, Amaris. I’m really trying but it’s not easy” I said.
“It’s not easy for our mate too, Liviana. He makes mistakes, yes. But you do too. Yet, when you do, he’s so quick to brush it off. But when it’s him? You always act like he’s the worst thing to happen in your life. Have you ever thought of that?” she said and it was like something snapped in me.
“Just keep all of this in mind. You’re not the only one who’s struggling. Don’t wait for the time that he finally gives up on us because you choose to see his mistakes than his efforts” she said and cut me off.
My hold on the handle tightened and I drove even faster than I already was.
I arrived school in a bad mood.
It’s so early in the morning and I’ve already been scolded by Amaris.
What a great way to start the day.
“Yo, Livi!”
I turned to look at who called me with a frown.
“What?” I snapped.
“Aye chill! I just wanted to deliver a message from Luan. Geez!” Beau said and raised his arms in surrender. My expression changed and calmed myself.
“What is it?” I asked calmly.
“He couldn’t come to pick you up because he’s sick. He said he didn’t want you to get sick because of him so he’s back at our place trying to recover” he said and my expression turned into a worried one.
“But he seemed just fine yesterday” I said.
“He probably seemed fine when he’s around you but when he’s not, you’ll definitely see that he hasn’t been well for the past few days” he told me.
“But why?” I asked again.
“Well, he hasn’t been sleeping or eating well lately. He gets up pretty early too so he can go to pick you up. It seems that you’re little fight has affected him a lot A LOT” he stated. I bit my lower l*p as I clenched my fists.
“Thanks for telling me” I said and walked pass him and out of the school again.
No wonder something seemed off about him specially yesterday.
He’s sick.
I got on my motorbike again and drove away from school.
I need to see him.
I made my way to the location of the place he was staying there and arrived in front of the gates.
The guards immediately stopped me and I removed my helmet.
“Who are you and what are you doing here? This is a private property” a guard said.
“I’m here to see Luan” I said blankly. The guards brows furrowed and he took out his sword then pointed at me.
“How dare you address his majesty like that” he said and I only stared at him without a hint of fear.
“I’m sure his majesty doesn’t mind me addressing him by his name. But I’m sure he will mind what you’re doing right now” I said and the guard growled.
“What the hell are you doing?!” a loud growl from the entrance of the gate said and I looked to see Abe standing there.
“Put your fcking sword down if you still want to live” he hissed at the guard.
The guard put his sword down confused and lowered his head in respect.
“Are you okay, Livi?” Abe asked worried.
“I’m fine, Abe” I told him then he snapped his head to the guard.
“You’re dead when Luan replaces out about this” he said to the guard.
“Let him off, Abe. He probably doesn’t even know that you guys know me” I said.
“Yeah, well if I don’t tell Luan, I’ll be the one dead” he said and I chuckled.
“Don’t worry, I won’t let that happen” I assured him and he sighed.
“Where’s Luan?” I finally asked.
“He’s inside resting. I don’t think he knows you’re coming. The main reason he didn’t go to school was because he didn’t want you to get sick because of him” he told me.
“I know” I said.
“Then what are you doing here? Don’t you have class?” he suddenly asked.
“Don’t you?” I asked back and he laughed.
“I do but I can’t leave Luan by himself. He’s too much of a headache for the helpers here. You know how bossy and grumpy he is” he said with a frown and I chuckled.
“Is he? He’s not bossy nor grumpy around me these days” I said with a shrug.
“Oh what his mate does to his majesty” he kid and we both laughed.
“Abe” I said and he hummed in response.
“I’ll look after Luan” I said and he looked at me in surprise.
“Will you really?” he asked and I nodded.
“I…owe him” I said and a small smile formed on Abe’s lips.
“Okay. Let’s go inside. It’s time for his majesty’s breakfast” he said and we went inside the gate and into their place.
Abe called for a helper and they gave us a tray of food for Luan and his medicines. Abe carried it and we made our way to where Luan’s room was.
“Whatever you do, don’t tell him that I’m the one who let you in or so help me goddess, I’ll end up in a coffin by tomorrow” he said with a chuckle. I laughed.
“Since you’re already here, I’ll attend my classes” he said and I nodded in agreement.
We arrived at a large two door bedroom.
“He’s inside. He barely sleeps nowadays so he’s probably awake still” Abe said and handed me the tray of food.
“Thanks, Abe” I said and gave me a small.
“Thank you, Livi” he said and smiled before leaving me in front of the door.
I took a deep breath and came in.
“What the hell took you so long—Liviana” Luan said as he looked at me in shock.
“Sorry. We’re you that hungry?” I said apologetically knowing I was the one who kept Abe from giving his breakfast to him earlier.
“N-no I j-just…what are you doing here?” he asked embarrassed.
I put down the food by the bedside table.
“I got the news that you were sick so I came here” I said and his brows furrowed.
“Beau told you I was sick, didn’t he? I told him to say that I had something important come up” he muttered in a low voice the last part but I still heard it.
“You didn’t want to let me know that you were sick?” I asked and felt a pang of guilt since I know that I’m the reason why he’s sick now.
“It’s not like that, Liviana. I just… I didn’t want to burden you, you know” he said apologetically.
I felt even more guilty.
Here he is, sick as hell but all he thinks about is not burdening me.
“Luan” I said and approached him.
“Liviana, don’t—” he stopped when I hugged him.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I wasn’t a good mate. I’m sorry that I always gave you a hard time. I’m sorry that I always push you away. I’m sorry if I hurt you” I said as my hug slightly tightened around him.
Then, I felt him caress my hair.
“How can I ever stay mad at you?” he whispered and my heart skipped a beat.
“I’m sorry” I kept apologizing and he kissed the top of my head.
“You’re forgiven, my love” he said and I smiled.
