Alpha´s curvy bullied human mate -
Chapter 50: Against all
Nathaniel
Instead of replaceing a pleasant afternoon brunch among the most important people in the pack, I found a confrontation when I arrived in the hall. I had heard yelling and nasty comments on my way in. The situation was extremely overwhelming, but I could see only one thing: my mate was under attack.
I could feel her fear and anxiety from here, and my wolf could only think that she was in danger and wouldn't let it happen. If it was any other situation, I would have just razed everything to the ground, but here were the most important people to me, gathered together. I roared at the top of my lungs to try to bring order.
"What the hell is going on?" I shouted, and everyone automatically fell silent. Some of them were already on their knees the moment I walked in, and the rest were already in a submissive position.
"Alpha..." a few said, acknowledging my power. The only ones not bowing were my mate and my grandmother who was holding her. I saw Naomi at my mate's feet, defending her.
"I need explanations, now!" I said furiously, and Hunter was on edge.
"Alpha...we were just asking for explanations about the guest here," Regina said.
We had been lifelong friends, but I had drifted away from her over time. She was Roger's sister, but also a troublemaker, spoiled. Her father had insisted on mating her with me.
"What explanations do you need? Penelope is a special guest; you don't need to know anything else. My mother brought her here to make her feel comfortable, but as far as I can see, that has not been the case."
"No, my boy. That's not the case. Since the girl arrived here she has only been abused," my grandmother said, and I roared again.
Penelope was now looking directly at me. and her expression was telling me "I told you this would happen".
"How dare you! Is it that your Alpha's request wasn't clear enough for you?" I roared.
"Alpha, we" some started to speak, but I expanded my power, and they stood trembling. They would regret this, I would make them regret this every day of their lives.
"Son, we tried to explain..." my mother, said visibly upset. None of this was what we had planned. This whole situation in front of the pack made us look vulnerable and weak, and that was the last thing my family wanted to be. "Do they not understand that we are at war, that we must stand strong and united? When I say they are my guests, believe me, it's for the good of everyone," I exclaimed, but my father spoke directly to me in anger.
"But it's not just that, is it? There is a reason why this woman is here," he said with a voice that radiated hatred.
"Father, watch your tone," I warned, but the man didn't seem to care.
He had knelt, but more so because my power was so strong than out of respect. I tried to control myself so as not to lose my mind.
"Is she your mate? That's impossible... a stupid human is the mate of a powerful Alpha, an Alpha of Moonstone!" he said angrily. I took quick steps toward him, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt.
"Think about what you're going to say. You're my father, but I will not tolerate insults... especially in my presence," I said through my teeth, seeing the panic in everyone's eyes. My father's eyes were dark, and I released him and said loudly. "Leave the room. The brunch is over. You are strictly forbidden to discuss this matter with anyone else. It is an order from your Alpha... and if for any reason you let anything slip about what happened today, you will be immediately exiled from the pack. Is that clear?" I roared an ultimatum, feeling the fear flow through everyone.
"Is that clear?!" I shouted now, and I called for help from Roger who was nearby as everyone left the room. Now there was only silence.
"Stay," I said to Roger's family and my family, and I could see the tension in them.
"Penelope, please go home with Naomi and wait for me there," I said, and she gave me a look of hatred. I knew I was going to pay a steep price for this. She left, followed by the she-wolf. After the doors closed, I was faced with a group of angry, confused, and arrogant werewolves.
"What's wrong with you people?" I asked.
"My dear. I don't know what happened in the past, but your mate must have suffered terribly. Everyone seems to hate her, and no doubt they think she is inferior, even though she is a destiny mate! She was panicked and frightened. This... is not a respectful pack," my grandmother said in anguish, with tears in her eyes.
"I tried my best, son, I knew it would be difficult, but... I thought we would get more cooperation from the others. Maybe if they knew her, they would accept her," said my mother.
I knew she was not Penelope's biggest fan, but I had seen all the effort she had put into this, and she had followed my instructions. Yet, we failed.
The idea was that they would get to know her as a guest, and then I would announce that she was my mate at the right time. Preferably after she was marked and before we faced Marco. "Everybody knew but me? Everyone knew you got your mate?" my father asked. scandalized.
"I was going to tell everyone, but I wanted to avoid all this. We have serious problems and I just wanted to take care of her and protect her."
"It must be a mistake, it must be wrong that this woman is your mate! Did you mark her?" he asked. I roared.
"She is my true and destined mate, and you know you can't speak against her in my presence!"
"No wonder you didn't want me to introduce you to another woman! You must reject her! If you haven't marked her yet, there's still time!" He was out of his mind.
I roared again, and the whole house seemed to shake. Roger's family trembled on the floor.
"Never! She's the only one for me!"
"It must be witchcraft, that bitch must have tricked you! And you fell for it completely!" he charged back. That was it. I immediately pushed him to the ground. I heard everyone gasping, and there was fear as I felt like I was about to explode. "I... will... not... listen... to... one... more... word... against... her," I said in a gravelly voice as Hunter desperately tried to protect his mate.
"The bond cannot be imitated or faked, it is impossible. Only those of us who have had a true mate know this. I had one, and I confirm to you that it is a devotion and an unstoppable love," said my grandmother, and everyone fell silent. "You hid her for a reason! Because you are ashamed of her, and you are not sure!" my father said, trembling, but in a loud voice. He seemed to have completely lost his mind.
"Silence!" I roared. "She is my mate and will be your Luna, no matter what you say or think. The Moon Goddess decided to mate me with her, and I am very grateful. Penelope has been wronged, and I am determined to right this injustice. I naively thought I could count on everyone's help, and you have failed me," I said, as they lowered their heads.
"You made me look weak! Do you understand?!" I asked aloud, only to be met with silence. I didn't want to do this, but I couldn't replace another way to deal with the problem. I needed Penelope to be safe.
"Grandmother... I need to know who attacked Penelope. And it's an order you cannot refuse," I ordered, listening as everyone gulped in fear. My grandmother sighed.
"They... they called her Cinderella and laughed at her humble beginnings in the pack. There were insults from the previous Beta's family. Everyone in this room practically accused her of something, and treated her like she was worthless," she said, as I closed my eyes in disbelief.
I was done.
"Nate, this is crazy! You can't turn on your family and your people for her!" my father fought back. I turned back toward him and looked into his eyes.
"For a mate, father... a wolf is capable of anything," I told him, listening to everyone hold their breath.
I then turned to Robert and his daughter. My Beta was standing near the entrance, looking at his family with disappointment.
"Your son has been a wonderful Beta. And you, Robert, have served the pack with integrity... but don't doubt for a moment that I hesitate to do what I have to do to protect her," I said. They looked at me, crestfallen.
"What I said earlier about keeping quiet also applies to you. My family is important, but Penelope is the future of this pack. And the pack always comes first. So think very carefully about what you are going to do next, because if I lose my mate because of you... you will pay dearly," I said loud and clear. As everyone walked out, my father gave me hateful looks.
"We can solve this, son... we will figure it out," my mother said. "My little boy... you have a very complicated task ahead of you. Everyone hates her. But you are a strong Alpha, strong because of her, like your grandfather and me, because you are destined. Be patient, only love can heal this," she said and took my face.
I headed to Penelope's house with a trembling heart. Naomi was outside, and I could feel the tense atmosphere.
"Alpha... she heard some of the conversation. I couldn't stop her," she apologized.
I entered with fear. I was about to face my mate, whose words could break me to pieces.
