Chapter 75: A new Mate

It was all my fault.

I didn't have the strength to exile my father, and look what happened, he treated me worse than an enemy. Damn Wolfsbane! I'm trapped, and weak, and I can't stop thinking that they might have my mate.

My father and Robert have arranged a meeting where they have brought me a Luna, Erica... Marco's sister.

I make time to pass the wolfsbane, and I can take back my full power, I want to explode the pack house from its foundations from the rage I have.

"What have you done with the pack?" I ask. The pack house seems to have run out of my warriors. I replace myself alone, wondering what will become of my people.

The twins have escaped, but Michael and Naomi are wounded and in the dungeons. And Penelope... she must be with my most loyal warriors, but... I trust none. I am only with my wounded mother and my worst enemies.

"We do not harm our people, Nate... what do you think we are? At least the ones who didn't object... we have to teach a lesson," my father says.

"What fucking lesson?"

"Moonstone must obey...accept what is best for the pack. Just like you, son...you will have a Luna, a decent woman to represent us with dignity" I can't believe my ears. "How dare you do such a thing? I have a mate! A true and destiny mate!" I yell in desperation as I try to call Hunter.

"Why don't you understand that the life of the pack is at stake? Crimson Fangs are too powerful! They will wipe us out if they want to!" my father says as he holds my mother, who is crying in pain and fear. "Crimson Fangs are the enemy! How can we ally ourselves with the enemy? They already tried to destroy and kill me once!" I ask angrily.

"Crimson Fangs don't want our destruction, they want us to be part of their deal, they want to eliminate humans, and we will have more territory!" my father explains, and I realize that he is completely insane.

"You mean you... knew about the attack on the border? Did you try to attack your son?" I ask and he hesitates for the first time.

"We were helped by Collin... the boy gave us the information and placed Wolfsbane in the area... to disrupt communications..." he says shamelessly.

"Are you listening to yourself, father? Since when does an Alpha use wolfsbane not only against werewolves but also against his people?"

"What I've done? I fought for this pack while you set traps for me..." I say and walk away from him, almost crawling.

"You're fucking, mating a human! You only care about humans! And I told you I wouldn't allow it! Erica will be the new Luna, and we'll introduce her as soon as possible!" he says matter-of-factly, and she steps forward. "Nate...we've known each other since we were little, I understand that you're having trouble accepting this and that...you're enchanted by this girl, and you think she's your mate....but I promise you..."

"She is my mate and the only woman for me!" I yell and Erica looks at me in shock.

"If you don't accept it, Nate... Robert will imprison Ruth, I can't hurt her, but he can. And I will replace your mate myself and kill her, do you understand? I'm on the verge of madness and as I roar and go to attack my father, I feel a bullet in my back and then another, and I fall to my knees. Now take him..." he says, and I was dragged and taken to another room. After a while, someone appears out of nowhere.

With slow movements, she undoes the ties and the small fabric covering her breasts falls away. She bites her lip as she watches me, convinced I will fall into her trap.

"Get out of here, Erica... I am the Alpha and I did not invite you...you are not welcome in Moonstone," I say as firmly as I can as I cover my wound with my hands.
