Chapter 94: Unsuspected warriors

"The road is unusually lonely... it gives me the creeps," Rebecca told me as we drove back to Moonstone.

There were some wolves ahead of us, and I was in the fastest car I had, she and Trevor had insisted on accompanying me, always by my side. And she was right, I honestly didn't know what to expect, I knew it had been several days, so I could expect triumph or defeat in our mission.

I came with reinforcements from Brown Wolf Pack and I felt we had a chance, but the atmosphere we found here was so dark that I felt all the effort had been in vain.

But my friends needed me, and I could not leave them. Likewise, I had learned long ago that when there was hope, one could not stand idly by.

"There's something up ahead... I hear something in that direction," Trevor said.

"Belle Springs..." the small town where everything had started. I remembered how I had left it and yet it seems different now, something was going on. And oh no... it wasn't good. "They're under attack! It's one of the towns that Marco has targeted, they're in danger!" I yelled and we moved forward.

It seemed that werewolves from other packs had come to attack the town, no doubt followers of Marco, and they had taken advantage of the commotion, to profit from the situation

The attack was chaotic, and I was surprised to see humans defending themselves, shooting, and throwing stones, without moving from their posts, to avoid becoming victims of these predators.

No doubt the werewolves were not expecting such a confrontation. The townspeople protect themselves using wolfsbane and shooting from a distance.

I also see other wolves inside the town, protecting and trying to keep the intruders away, and they seem to be under the command of an older woman.

"Go after them, don't let them get an inch closer, this town is not going to fall into their clutches!" the angry woman shouted from above.

She must be a Luna, and the others listened and obeyed her orders. Brown Wolf's wolves make a surprise attack on the intruders, and I see that some of them are already starting to flee.

I duck down an alley and see vampires attacking a couple of humans, and I slash their hearts out. The humans recognize me and I lead them to safety.

"Let them go!" the old woman says to me and I approach their base, in a small tower, taking out several wolves on the way.

"A vampire! Stay away!" she says as I approach, showing me a silver necklace. She has gray hair and there is something familiar about her face.

"Ma'am... I know these people, and I went out to get help. Let me introduce myself, my name is..."

"How do I know that's true? Marianne! Do you know this vampire?" the woman shouts"

I see a girl appear, fully protected with a helmet and shield, she is small and has a gun bigger than herself. As she comes towards us, she is shooting wolves like crazy. When she sees me, her expression is relieved. "Jeremiah!" says Marianne and she comes to hug me and I return the gesture.

"You're back! We knew you'd come back!" she says.

"Marianne! Is everyone gone?" I ask.

"Yes, a few days ago they left with some warriors and also some of the people from the town went with them in cars. But these wolves arrived yesterday! We fought with all our might. We don't want to be captured. Belle Springs has suffered too much," she says, and I see the marks on her neck.

Her mates have left her and the humans are protecting themselves with everything they have.

"Marco, no doubt... the wolf world is in chaos, and it's all his fault."

"Thank you for coming all this way, Jeremiah..." she says to me happily, while the lady still looks at me suspiciously.

"Do you have any information about what's going on in Moonstone?" I ask. Rebecca and Trevor are already leading their people to better organize and contain this despicable attack.

"Luna Harriet is the one who has some information, she is Luna Ruth's mother and Nathaniel's grandmother!" Marianne says. Now I understand where the strength of this family comes from.

"Look out!" I hear screams and see some wolves that manage to break through a barrier, and I act immediately.

I stand in the middle and finish them off without even scratching my suit. I see the girl and the lady share a look of astonishment.

"Yes, I am a vampire, and I am here to help, and no... we are not all good. Sorry for scaring you before, Luna. I am here to help your grandson, your pack and of course your daughter. But I need you to inform me about the situation in Moonstone as soon as possible," I say, and she nods. I escort her into the small building to sit a little further away from all this madness.

Trevor takes my place, he stands next to Marianne and seems amazed to see someone so small with such ferocity.

"Terrible things are happening... mister..." Harriet says.

"Jeremiah..." I add and she smiles.

"That's a beautiful name, old-fashioned ..." she says. We hear small explosions and the constant gunfire. Now everyone will think twice before attacking this little town.

"My daughter communicated with me and told me that Moonstone and my grandson are in a lot of trouble, Marco had him imprisoned and wants to mate him with another woman...."

"Marco's sister." I add. He wants to merge the packs, probably absorb Moonstone, and make Crimson Fangs bigger.

"I think he wants also Luna Penelope....there are several rumors about the power a human Luna can have," I tell her.

"My poor child..." she says worriedly. And we talk about our theories and what we have seen.

"There is something else... along this path, we have seen hordes of warriors from different packs, hundreds... also angry rogues... I fear that what is happening in Moonstone is a disaster that will affect us all. We eliminated those we could, but my pack is small, and we didn't bring enough warriors," she says worriedly and I take her hand.

"I promise Luna that we will save Moonstone, Nathaniel and your daughter Ruth," I tell her and she shakes.

"And my little Penelope... she is the future of all of us... I feel it inside" I tell her.

"I swear, I don't know how I'm going to do it, but we're going to do it," I tell her as I hear more screams.

"What's going on?" I ask as I see Marianne hiding behind the wall and Trevor protecting her.

"Looks like more warriors are coming," he says concerned. I see the chaos in the town, much of it already destroyed. This looks uncontrollable.

"It's as if they know that the town is without the protection of Alpha Nathaniel and Alpha Asher, and they are ready to take us," Marianne says trembling. "Trevor, stay here and protect her."

"I don't need protection! We need more supplies! Bullets and weapons!" says Marianne and the warrior is surprised.

"Well said my sweet girl... help us with that," Luna Harriet says and Trevor gets to work. They won't let the town fall apart so easily

Meanwhile, I check the length and breadth of the area in a matter of seconds. I climb one of the high mountains a few miles away and see what's coming.

It takes my breath away. There are at least two groups, some more organized than others, but they are all heading to Moonstone.

In the distance, I can see a small group of rogues moving away through the forest, and also what appear to be humans and wolves fleeing, they must be escaping the pack. Further away, I see what appear to be Crimson Fang's allies, this is utter chaos.

"What did you see?" asked Rebecca and Trevor.

"Not good...I'm not sure if we have enough strength to defend this town, save Moonstone, not to mention possible victims in the woods," I say, and we all sigh. "Maybe we can attack them before they get here," she says, and I nod.

"We'll move forward to try and minimize the impact...but protect yourselves and don't expose yourselves too much," I say to the humans.

They take positions a little further away, I can see them trembling, and they don't know what's coming. It is worse than they can imagine.

I run as fast as the wind and in no time I meet the first warriors and begin to kill them one by one. They growl and meet dead as I run faster and faster. "Devil creatures!" I yell staining my hands with blood

Behind me, I hear the warriors of the Brown Wolf Pack being attacked hard.

There are too many of them! I think as two or three wolves get on top of me and I shake them off as best I can.

When suddenly... I hear a roar and a scream, and the wolves fall like nothing. My enemy is attacked by an even stronger one.

I feel the power and intensity of strong wolf warriors, men and women of high rank.

"On your knees..." I hear a voice commanding me, and I have no choice but to obey.
