Chapter 95: Atonement

"She is here! Mate!" Hunter cries.

"It feels different from a while ago, my daughter must be here," Michael says, and I see the worry on his face as well.

"If she is here... maybe Asher and other Alphas are here. Let's keep searching the area,"

We see a group of cars approaching us at full speed. My warriors are about to attack when I get in the middle and someone appears. "Jack!"

"Alpha Nathaniel!" the man says, genuinely happy to see me. More people get out of the cars and I see they are from Belle Springs. "You came all this way to help," I say in disbelief.

"Of course we did! We got the call for help from Penelope," they told us what happened while we helped the injured humans.

"You've been very brave Jack...but you need to stay away from here, there's really dangerous stuff coming," I say.

"I know Alpha...we have encountered vampires... Asher and the others are fighting them," he says, and I can see the horror in his eyes. None of them have seen anything like this.

Asher is here... we have help. I just need to replace my mate. Suddenly, a small group appears and runs towards me.

"Roger, Naomi, Andrew!" my Beta looks awful, and I'm relieved to see them.

"What happened?" they look tired, hurt and worried.

"Penelope got caught, Nate..." my Beta says, and I feel a pain deep in my heart.

"No, no please..."

"I'm so sorry, Alpha...we came looking for you, but we found victims, including Roger! And we were helping them when Marco showed up. Our Luna gave herself up to save us all....her brothers are wandering around looking for her...." Naomi said, crying as her mate hugged her.

"No...my girl," Michael says in horror. My worst nightmares are coming true.

Everything I did was to keep her from falling into his hands, and finally, he was right...she fell right into his hands.

My mate in the hands of that bastard! With all the dreadful plans he had for her!

"Marco wants her... and he doesn't know she's marked, she's in too much danger!" I say desperately.

I call to some warriors and also to Daniel, the rogue who has proven to be very strong in battle.

"Mate is close, I can smell her," Hunter says, and it's like a compass that leads me straight to her.

"It's here..." I say, realizing it's my parents' house, and I'm thankful my mother isn't here. They've torn it apart and destroyed everything inside.

It was one of the safest houses and was protected with stronger walls and a big security system, and from the moment I walked in I knew something was wrong.

"Penelope! Where are you?" I smell her scent but see another person looking out upstairs.

"Erica?" I say as I see the blonde woman in a long coat downstairs, still wearing her dirty dress from the ceremony. She is accompanied by several warriors.

"Nate... we meet again, did you think you could escape our deal?"

"Where is my mate?" I ask, starting to roar as I watch her from below.

"I suggest you pull yourself together if you ever want to see your fat mate again..." and I hear the doors close quickly. We are trapped.

"Alpha! Roger! Michael!" I hear Naomi shout from outside, she, Andrew and the rest of the warriors stay outside. We, however, are like flies in a spider's web. We have fallen into the trap.

"Open the doors, Erica, or I swear I'll finish you off. "I say, roaring, feeling my wolf taking more and more power. I knew this house was strong and very hard to run away from.

"You were wrong, my Alpha. I have done absolutely nothing... " she says, and a figure appears behind her, I fear it is Marco, but I hear the sighs of surprise from my companions as I see my father appear. "Dad? What the hell?" I say, still in disbelief.

Regina appears next to him, looking beaten and shaking. I hear some noises in another room and hope that it is my mate who is tied up, but no one else appears.

"Your mate was here a while ago. She will have the place he deserves away from our lives. Instead, you son, must keep your word and keep the deal you made with Crimson Fang," he says. Michael automatically turns into a wolf and roars. Roger is still wounded, I howl and feel my whole body tense. The betrayal is too great.

"You must honor your pack," he says as if lecturing me.

He looks at Regina and I guess the part of the deal with her still stands, even though Robert is dead, and it has cost us all so much for this stupid negotiation.

"How dare you say that! the pack is destroyed! All because of what? Because you don't like my mate? The mate the moon goddess gave me!" I scream.

"You brought our downfall!" he yells as Erica looks on with satisfaction.

"That's right Alpha Ivan...but the important thing here is what is Nate's answer, will you be with me? You know that Marco will let your mate live. Isn't that better, or would you rather die?

"We will never be yours! And over my dead body, she'll be another man's mate, let alone Marco's!" I scream, wanting to tear down the whole house.

I keep hearing Naomi screaming outside, trying to help us. Roger is looking everywhere, trying to get away.

"Well...then I guess our deal is off...and if you're not mine...we have no interest in keeping you alive anymore," she says and my father looks at her in horror.

"That...that wasn't part of the deal," my father says.

"You may be Moonstone Alphas...but you don't make the rules right now. And my brother has asked me to teach you a lesson...and I will do it gladly...I hate it when a man rejects me," he says. "What's that?" asks Roger, and I see smoke in the house.

"Fire, they're going to burn the house down...with us inside," I say in disbelief.

The noises in the other room get louder, and I panic that there are more people trapped in here.

"Erica... this can't be! My house!" my father says, and the warriors hold him back.

"You never wanted to help me or be with me? "I ask her and she smiles.

"If you had accepted my proposal, I would have enjoyed it to the fullest. But there is nothing worse than a wounded she-wolf Nate," she says.

"You will pay for this, Erica, I swear!" I say and start to move towards her when I see vampires coming out of one of the rooms, all skinny and lanky, no doubt starving. They were trapped in the house. "Look out!" yells Roger as Michael lunges at the vampires and attacks them mercilessly.

"I guess this is as far as we got Nate...it was really a shame..." she says, and I remove the vampires in front of me and do my best to get upstairs.

"What happened to our deal?" my father asks.

"We gave you what you wanted... to get the fatty mate away from him..." she says as the warriors make their way out.

"But Moonstone..."

"It will be glorious... as we promised. Because now will be part of Crimson Fangs..." she says.

I keep fighting the vampires that try to bite me, but there are so many of them, and they come at me like zombies.

"By the way, speaking of doing everyone's part... I don't think we'll be needing you anymore, dear," Erica says, throwing Regina from the stairs.

"No! Regina!" my father says shocked, suddenly he seems to understand that they are nothing and never had a real position in Marco's plans.

"You too old man... you've done your job, thank you for giving us your house and helping us," she says, and a warrior drives a dagger through my father's chest and drops him to the floor.

"A father for a father..." she says as I watch in horror.

I go after her, but she disappears through the back door. My father lies bleeding on the floor, looking at me in fear.

"Your mother... I'm sorry..." he says, and I watch as he goes lifeless. I don't have time to go after Erica when I hear more screams. "Alpha!"

I see that the fire has spread quickly. I jump up to reach down, Michael still fighting the vampires, while Regina tries to get to safety.

"Over here!" we hear a voice, and it's Naomi who seems to have broken a hole in a side window, I hear she keeps trying to break the glass.

Michael comes out jumping in his wolf form and I come out too as I take Regina's hand, the window gets stuck, and now we start knocking so they can get out.

"Come on Roger! Regina!" I yell in desperation as we hold the window open and Roger quickly gets out, I see that Regina has pushed him.

As she tries to get out, a vampire grabs her leg and Roger tries to pull her out with all his might.

"Regina! Come on!" the vampires are going crazy, and she is fighting them off.

I see that she seems to be making up her mind. She looks at me in fear, and she turns back to fight the vampires and push them away, so they can't get out. "Regina, no!" I peek in the window as the house is about to collapse and see her on the ground, badly hurt, and the vampires screaming as they burn. "Marco has a real mate...she's hiding in the pack house, in your office. Her name is Eileen...look for her," she says, and the upper floor collapses. Michael and Daniel drag me away from the house, and it explodes into pieces.
