Alphas Deaf Mate -
Chapter 97
Autumn
Reins carried me back, I was so mentally exhausted. I wasn't looking to kill her. I'm not that type of person. I only wanted to keep her from getting away but I saw the look in her eyes when Reins said she was a rogue. She had completely snapped. Her eyes held anger and hurt. She was so obsessed with having power that she didn't care who she hurt to get it. Like Reins has always said he's never messed with females from his pack because he didn't want this to happen. But it was not his fault. She knew this just like anyone else. She is the one who made the choice.
I was glad he was here. I needed him right now and he did nothing but hold me and tell me it was going to be alright. He was not judging me. Even though I was doing that myself, I'm not a violent person. But when she gave me no other choice, I did what was necessary to stay alive. A part of me feels relieved to know she can't do any more harm. But I did not want death to be the reason for it. Gem assured me we did no wrong and if she hadn't been with me I'm sure I would have died as I know nothing about fighting. When Reins reached us, I was terrified to shift back. I didn't want to see what I had done. Gem blocked some of it but I can still taste her blood in my mouth from biting down so hard,
"Love, we reached the pack house." His voice was just above a whisper.
"I linked Sophia and had her bring some clothes down for us,"
"Thanks,"
Reaching the back door, he sets me down on my feet, holding me for a few seconds.
giving him a small nod letting him know I was good, he stepped over to the table and there were two piles of clothes sitting there grabbing one. He brought it over to me,
"Let's get you dressed first. I felt you shivering a few minutes ago,"
Kneeling, he held the top waistband open for me to step into. There were sweet pants. I got to love Sophia. She knows when you need comfy clothes. Stepping into them, he stood pulling the shirt over my head, letting me put my arms through the armholes. He kisses my forehead, tucking some hair behind my ear.
"Thank you,"
He grabs his clothes quickly, pulling them on, he takes my hand, leading me to the door. As we step inside, I'm tackled and pulled into a hug. Reins let out a growl, but just by the touch and smell it was my mother,
"I was so worried." Her voice cracked just a bit,
"Sorry, Mom."
"What were you thinking?"
"I was not and I'm sorry for upsetting you."
"Your father went out looking for you. He was scared. They took you. I tried to get him to stay, but he wouldn't listen."
"Has he come back yet?"
"No, but he linked me saying he would be here in a few minutes,"
Suddenly, we heard the front door slam open and my father appeared in the doorway across the kitchen. He was breathing hard. He was not supposed to be out, he was to be resting, but because I did what I did he could have hurt himself. He crossed the kitchen at a speed I'd never seen him use before scooping me up into a bear hug, holding me tight,
"Don't you ever pull a stunt like that again, young lady you scared me to death. Not to mention, Reins was losing control while trying to look for you,"
"Sorry Dad, I promise I won't. I learned my lesson."
Letting go, he held me at arm's length looking over me from head to toe. His eyes stopped at my jaw and neck, turning his eyes to Reins.
"Autumn, what happened? Why is there blood on your jaw and neck?"
Flinching at his question, I dropped my head suddenly. Not wanting to meet my father's eyes, would he be angry I took someone's life? Would he look at me differently?
"Matt and Helen, there is something we need to discuss but not down here. Why don't we all go up to my office where it's more private?" Reins tells them as they are looking at me, but I don't look at them.
"Is something wrong?" Mom asked as she brushed the hair from my face.
"
NO, there was a small incident and I'm sure Autumn would prefer to tell you herself,"
"Alright," Dad says as he reaches for Mom's hand, pulling her to stand next to him. Reins places his hand on the small of my back, leading me out of the kitchen before anyone else replaces us and ends up seeing me with blood spots,
Once we reached his office, we sat down in the small sitting area we had only a few months ago. It was the first time I met Reins and I thought he was a scary person and I wanted nothing to do with him. Oh, how the tables have turned and time has changed now. I can't see myself going a day without him.
Sitting down, Reins began to explain everything that had happened. Up till the part where I chased after Rachel he wanted me to tell them,
"Love, it's okay they won't be mad."
I glanced at my parents when I heard his words. They were looking at me intently. Just waiting for me to tell them that I killed someone.
Fidgeting with my fingers, taking a deep breath in it was now or never.
"I killed Rachel," I spoke so low I was hoping they didn't hear me.
"You what?" Dad spoke softly.
"I fought Rachel and, well, I um Killed her."
"Are you hurt from fighting?" Dad asked as he slid closer to the edge of the couch, looking at me,
"No, this blood you see is not mine."
" So you thought that we would be angry with you?"
nodding my head at his question,
"Why would you think that?"
"Because I took a life,"
"Was it self-defense?"
"Yes, I didn't want to hurt her, but she started to attack me. Gem helped me as I didn't know how to fight, but in the end, she died. We killed her." "Well then there is no need to be worried that we will be mad at you. I am very proud to know you stood up for yourself and didn't let her hurt you."
"That's what I told her, and I'm sure Gem has to as I had to force Gem to shift because she was trying to protect Autumn from seeing it all." Reins tells them.
"Yes, I have told you and I've said it was not your fault." Gem's voice was a relief to hear as I was not talking much to her, I was not mad at her for what she did if she hadn't. I would probably be dead by now.
"I know Gem and I'm happy you helped me and I'm sorry for not talking to you too much on the way back here. I'm just trying to wrap my head around what happened."
"I understand I knew you would talk to me when you were ready and, plus, I can read your thoughts, so I was still there with you,"
"Thanks, Gem,"
"Any time."
"Autumn," I heard Mom's soft voice,
Snapping out of it, I looked at her,
"Are you sure you are alright?"
I smiled at her." Just a little tired really."
"Please don't ever think you can't talk to us. We have always been there for you. We will never look at you differently. You are our daughter and nothing will ever change the love we have for you."
"I know I'm sorry, I am just not fully taking in what all happened as it was so fast and I didn't want to hurt anyone, but I couldn't let her hurt me again,"
"It will take some time," Dad says as he reaches out and pats my hand,
"Now what about the one who helped her escape?"
"We have him. It was the one council member who broke her out. He did not run. I think he was a little taken aback by Rachel's openness to what she did. He just stood there." Reins explains. "Did he really believe she was innocent?"
"I guess he was so attracted to her looks that he let it get in the way of his judgment but don't worry, they are bringing him back. The leader of the council will be here tomorrow. He can deal with him." "Autumn, how did you catch them so fast? They had a good headstart on everyone."
Hearing the question, Reins burst out laughing.
i just glared at him because he knew how embarrassing it was to have to hear what they were doing.
"Well, let's just say they were a little too impatient and stopped for some extra activities." Reins says while chuckling.
, smacking his arm, I could feel the redness on my face,
"What do you mean?" Dad started, but then it hit him and he busted out laughing.
"What the hell is wrong with them? They are on the run for the love of god and they stop just for that?"
"Yep just couldn't wait,"
