Alpha's Little Vampire Mate -
CHAPTER 125
Chloe was still sitting before the mirror, her teary face stained with make up that should have worn out due to the fact that she had been crying. The empty box of tissue resting g on the table, and all the tissue littered on the floor was proof that his guess had been correct. She sniffed, turning to the door when she sensed his presence in the room.
Of it were to be in a different case scenario, he would have laughed at how funny she look with the mascara all ruined and running down her face. But this was a case for where he was boiling with anger and he doubted if he would laugh, even if the world's biggest comedian were to say a joke.
"Chloe?" I called out through clenched teeth, my hands fisting tightly by my side as I tried not to yell. Lima was already outside with the car, the guests were probably still waiting and my wife? She had made a masquerade of herself! "Pray tell, why are you still like this?"
She sniffed. "I can't seem to get my makeup right, Lily always does it for me," she said, her lower lip tipping as she looked ready for another round of cry.
"Is this some kind of joke?" I could not hide the bitterness in the tone of my voice, even when I tried to. "Do you take me for some kind of fool or something?"
Her lips quivered and I almost would have regretted my words, that is; if I was not so mad at her right now. "Arw you mad at me?" She asked her most famous question of late.
"No," yes!
Only the goddess knew what it took in him, to be able to look her in the face and lie so effortlessly. But still, her pale face did not look to him like she believed what he had just said. She look ready to explode, when I turned around and bolted out of the house without another word.
It was not easy to convince the nastiest pregnant woman on the planet(that is; after my wife), to travel all the way from pack town just to attend my wife. But after much pleading and scolding from her end, Lily came to the royal house and Chloe would not even speak to her for some reason best known to her.
She left and I took another thirty minutes of wasting time, cuddling and stealing kisses from my wife as I tried to brighten her mood. It was already bad enough that I was giving her a surprise to which I was not sure if she would love, I could not risk making her any a moodier than she already was!
*
The ride to pack town was fast! Probably faster than I had expected. My palms were sweaty, and Chloe was not helping at all. What with trying to kiss me with Lima sitting at the driver's seat? It's not like I would have minded, naturally; but I was feeling too tensious to even look at her properly.
"We are here," Lima announced, meeting my eyes through the side mirror and giving me a wink to which I scowled back. "Alpha Marcus, did you not hear me?"
The guts of this dolt, never ceased to amaze me. I knew he was doing that on purpose to rile me up and I was not about to snap at him in front of my overly sensitive and very pregnant wife.
"I have eyes, I can see!"
A shocked gasp left Chloe's lips and I cursed under my breath. I had not mean to snap at Lima, as I knew that I would be getting an endless scolding from my wife. "Marcus," she growled, just when Lima hurriedly left the vehicle and slammed the door. "You scared the poor boy, can you not try to be a little bit nice to him?"
"I can," I gritted out, the words leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. For putting me through another extra ten minutes of scolding, I decided that I was going to sent Lima back to the hospital that he had just gotten out of a few weeks ago. "Shall we," I asked, forcing a smile.
She beamed up at me, her succulent lips spreading into a wide grin. "We shall," she accepted the hand I offered, letting me lead her out of the car. She looked really excited and I hoped she would keep it that way for the rest of the night. "Where is this place?"
I led her carefully, not wanting her to trip even when her eyes started to glow a bright red and I knew she was adjusting to the darkness. We had gotten into the main hall that I had booked, everywhere was silent and with her not sensing anyone, meant everyone had done a perfect work.
"Why is it so dark in here and why are we here in the first place?"
"SURPRISE!!!"
I watched her face, as the lights came on and everyone yelled, her brothers finally breaking the invisibility spell. She just stood there in a daze, staring at everyone in awe. Her eyes turned to meet mine and I could see joy whirling in them, even though she had not really said anything.
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you!"
She looked around at everyone, her lips started to part in a little smile and everyone cheered, applauding her on Titus's command. We were passed two cups and he requested that we made a toast to Chloe befor the party began. He said his toast and then, ordered that we raised our glasses.
"To Luna Chloe!" Titus yelled, raising his own cup in the air.
"To Luna Chloe!"
We then drank and after, I was allowed sometime with my wife as we walked around the hall, greeting the guests. She had not said much since the party, but I hoped that whatever she was going to say should not hurt too bad. "Will you stop staring at me that much?"
I blinked, my eyes adjusting to see her looking at me with amusement registered on her face. "I was not staring," I gulped. My eyes darted about, embarrassment coursing through me as she looked ready to laugh. "Do you love the party?" I asked, hoping I would receive an answer that would keep my mind at peace.
She laughed a little, then turned back to look at me with a smile still playing on her lips. "Later... I'll show you later."
