As I was in a meeting I get an urgent mind link from Steven that we were under attack. I close out the video meeting with a quick explanation about the attack and went out and shifted. I begin fighting and tearing throats out of rogues when all of a sudden, they left. 'Alpha, the prisoner has escaped. I got a mind link from a guard.

I was puzzled, what did this mean?

'Jacob?'

'Yes sir,

'I will be right there!

I ran to the cells and shifted back to human form. Putting shorts on that were handed to me I went down and saw two of my guards with their throats torn out and Jacob was gone. I roared so loud that the walls shook. "I want him found," I commanded.

Now I understood why the attack was short. It was a diversion to get Jacob out. Why do they want him so bad? It's as if he rules them or something. Why would they risk so much to save him?

I needed answers and I will replace them. My concern is I need him kept alive. For Ammie's sake, I need him alive. I walk back in and was met with my mate as she threw her arms around my neck and kissed me. "What happened?" She asked as she pulled back and looked up at me.

"It was a diversion."

"What?"

"It was to distract us so they could rescue Jacob," I say, and she gasped.

"He's gone?"

I nod, "Yeah they have him."

"What do we do now?" She asked me as we walked back to my office where she sat down on my lap.

"I have sent orders to replace him." I say, "I will send out alerts to the other packs and ask for help."

She nods, "Good idea." She takes a deep breath, "What do they want with Jacob? Why risk so many to save him?"

"I have been asking myself the same question."

After kissing my mate, she leaves to go back to her office to do more Luna stuff as I take to my computer to contact the other Alphas to send out alerts about what happened and how it was a diversion to rescue Jacob.

I received back many replies that they will keep a watch out for any suspicious behavior with the rogues. I thanked them then sat back on my chair and rubbed my temples.

"What is going on in that mind of yours, Jacob?" I asked out loud, "Was what you said in the cell earlier truth or lies to lower our guard"

I guess I won't know until we replace and capture him again.

I need to work off my frustration, so I head to the gym and change into my workout clothes from the locker room, and hit the weights. As I was working up a good sweat Steven walks in.

"Alpha, we gathered all our warrior's bodies and burned all the rogues' dead."

I nod, "Good we will have a sending-off ceremony in two days for the fallen." I say stopping and looking over at Steven, "Care to join me for a good sparring?" I asked with a smirk.

He smiles back, "Always,"

A couple of hours later and I know why I put Steven as a head warrior. The man knows his stuff. I suggested for him to teach these new moves to the warriors during training. I patted his back after we showered and changed in the locker room and went to replace my mate. It was close to dinner time, and I wanted us to go in together. I found her in our room helping with the twins and settling them down with Lisa's help. I stood leaning against the door jam and watched my beautiful mate with our pups. My heart is so full of love for my family. I would do anything to keep them safe.

As if sensing me she turns and smiles when she sees me standing there. She lays our sleeping daughter down in her bassinet and walks over to me and stood on her tippy toes and kissed my lips.

"Are you about ready to head down for dinner?" I asked her as my arms went around her waist.

"Of course, I am starved." She says kissing my lips again.

I hummed before asking, "Hungry for food or me?"

"Both. Food first then you for dessert."
