Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman -
Chapter 295 I Must Be Mad
the corner and ordered food right away.
Jean and Moore made their way into the canteen. They took in their surroundings and found just a couple of people around. The reason being that it was still very early for supper. Looking at it as an advantage, they quietly sat down to talk peacefully. They found a place in Their order took less time than they had expected. The waiter brought a huge pot with everything they had ordered. Moore was not hungry at all but as soon as the food arrived, Jean started to devour everything at once. They both had decided to sit facing each other. But seeing Jean eat her food deliciously, Moore raised an eyebrow. Moore was curious about Jean's past. He always had this urge to ask her about it but he never did.
Everything flashed through his mind. He had heard that Henry was a ruthless human being who didn't care for his own daughter. Her stepmother even tried persuading him to treat Jean right but he just couldn't. The real question that remained unanswered was if all that was true.
"Jean, can I ask you something? I don't know if it is appropriate at this moment though." He could see the expression of her face change and something went through her mind. Moore had always hesitated in asking her about anything and this time, he had made up his mind to ask Jean about her past.
"What is it that you want to ask me?" As soon as the words were out of her mouth, she nodded in assurance to make sure that Moore could proceed with his question.
"With everything that has been going on, I don't know if you know this or not but everybody at the hospital knows about the Wen Family. Joy and Shirley have denied the facts and instead cried their hearts out in order to prove themselves innocent. Now, everybody thinks that you are the ungrateful one...."
Before Moore could finish, the tone of Jean's voice changed. Moore realized this as soon as Jean started speaking. She said,"They are very good at playing tricks and making sure they are shown as the innocent ones. I have known this since the beginning. We all know that the two of them babble a lot and we cannot stop them from gossiping. If that is what they wish to do, then so be it... Moore, you don't have to worry about me. There has been a lot of rumours about me throughout my life and I have stopped caring about them at all." "This is not what I am worried about. We both hate Joy and Shirley a lot but Henry is your father. You cannot feel the same about him. He is still in the coma. Do you want to go to see him? We are currently in the same hospital as your father. You should probably go and see him in person. I assure you that your feelings towards him will change drastically!" Moore persuaded her patiently.
Upon hearing that, Jean's brow furrowed and she immediately dropped her chopsticks. She stared at Moore for a few seconds before asking, "Moore, do you have anything else to say to me? Just say it."
"I heard a nurse talking about Henry. She said that Henry might never come back to his senses again. Seeing this as the golden opportunity, Joy and Shirley have decided to give up his treatment if he doesn't wake up from the coma. I met them today because they came to see you. They wanted to tell you that Henry's treatment would not be done any further and they wanted to ask you for money. I am worried that if you don't give them the money they required, they might put Henry's life in danger..."
"They wouldn't!" As soon as Jean heard that, she could feel anxiety take over. She answered this by getting up from her chair in a hurry.
"There is nothing to be eager about. Please sit down and hear me out first before you do or say something." Moore took this chance to move closer to her and make sure that she remained calm.
Everybody had turned their heads towards them and they were staring with great confusion. As she realized this, Jean took a deep breath and sat down again.
"I know that you hate the Wen Family so much that you don't even like to mention them but you are still worried about him. Jean, if you want to visit him, I can go with you." Moore smiled and comforted her.
"No, you don't have to." Jean shook her head in refusal. She could see his sincerity. Instead, she replied, "You just saw how Joy treated you. You will face more troubles if you go there with me. You don't have to worry. I can go there by myself and handle everything. I will make sure that they won't give up Henry's treatment."
Although Moore knew that she was right and she could take care of herself but he was a little worried. He had always wanted her safety more than anything else. He said, "Well, then you have to be careful and make sure you won't tangle up in their tricks. You have to ignore every word they say, even if the words are hard to digest. I am telling you all of this because I am in your place."
"I have dealt with all of them but as you can see, I am living a better life now. Nothing has affected me. Right?"Seeing the concern in his eyes, for her, a smile crept up on Jean's face. She added, "Let's finish our meal first! Then, I will definitely go and visit him." Jean and Moore picked up their chopsticks and the rest of their time is spent eating the delicious meal that lay in front of them.
Jean was not affected by anything that just happened. Instead, she stayed calm and ate her meal.
Moore was completely taken aback.
He had known Jean for some time and he was certain that he understood her completely but after everything that happened today, he realized that the girl he knew once was not the girl he saw today.
She had changed a lot since then. Jean had become stronger and he was absolutely sure that she could take care of herself.
Moore didn't eat much. Instead, Jean had almost eaten all of everything on the table.
They made it through to the end of supper. Jean had eaten more than she wanted to. She diverted the attention towards herself by belching and rubbing her belly as she did it.
Jean thought she had crammed herself with food.
She decided to visit Henry right after supper. She was absolutely sure that by the time she got there, Joy and Shirley would have found countless reasons to make her life a living hell. They would start arguing on useless things. Jean had already made up her mind that no matter what she had to go through, she would never agree to let her father die.
She had no choice but to show her stronger side. She must win this battle at all costs.
After bidding farewell to Moore, Jean made her way towards the ICU where she would see Henry in the worst state. She was prepared for anything.
To her surprise, Joy and Shirley were not in the ICU.
Immediately, Jean realized that it was coincidentally time for supper, and so she guessed that Joy and Shirley must have gone for their meal.
'Henry is all alone in the ICU but the two of them have gone to have a meal. Someone should have been with him as he is still in the coma and he needs someone to be by his side all the time.'
She soon found out that there was not even a single nurse in the ICU. She entered and walked slowly towards the bed where Henry was lying almost lifeless.
Henry was having trouble breathing and Jean could see all kinds of tubes and devices attached to his body. Different medications were given to him through IV drips.
As soon as she saw everything in front of her, she burst into tears.
She stood there long enough for everything to flash in front of her eyes. She remembered everything that had happened in the past, as Henry was lying in front of her with nothing more than a pale and swollen face.
Henry had always treated her harshly but now she regretted everything that had happened between them. She said, "I am not in the right state of mind. You have always treated me so harshly, but now here I am, crying my eyes out because I cannot see you leave the world just yet. Henry, can you hear me? You have to wake up soon, otherwise, your spoiled wife and daughter will be the reason for your death. They don't care about you. They are actually thinking of letting you die by removing all the medical devices from your body. You will have no other choice but to die.
Please wake up real soon so that you won't die. You have blindly trusted all those around you in your entire life, but I want you to wake up now so that you can distinguish loyal and fake people in your life. You should not expect any sympathy from me because I know that I am the last person you would ever want to talk to. You have to wake up in order to see who your loyal family members are.
If you don't believe me, then let me tell you what really is going on... Shirley and Winner are fighting each other for your property. You already know that your son is no good against Shirley. So far, Shirley hasn't gotten the property, only because her evil acts were disapproved by Joy. If they would have been approved by her, I am sure she would have had the property by now. Just today, I saw Joy and Shirley walking together on my way. They seemed to get along just fine. Judging from the way they talked and laughed, I am sure that Joy will stand with Shirley regarding all the issues.
You spent your entire life in making sure the company thrives but now Shirley will take it over. She will ruin everything that you have ever worked for. You have to wake up if you don't want your company to be ruined by your mischievous daughter. Henry, I know that you are ruthless and emotionless like a cold-blooded animal. When you married my mother, it didn't take too long for you to divorce her. You did that without any hesitation and married Joy, that bitch!
I am sure you have paid for what you have done. If you don't wish to see your company and property destroyed by Joy and Shirley, you have to wake up right away..." Jean was angry and she kept on saying what came to her mind. In between, she heard a faint murmur. "You... are talking... nonsense..."
All of a sudden, Jean could feel emotions rush to her face.
She quickly glanced at the bed to make sure that this was not something that she was imagining.
She found Henry trying to completely open his eyes and staring at her with great hatred.
Weak enough, Henry even mustered the last strength he had to stare at Jean.
'You really don't want to see me, right?' Jean smirked.
"I am not talking nonsense. You can go and replace out yourself." Jean mockingly said, "Since you have just woken up, you should not use too much energy. I am going to call the doctor for you. If you are wise enough, then remember what I've said and don't question them face to face. And on top of that, I don't believe that you are an idiot. That was just something that I added without thinking much about it. I believe that you won't do anything foolish."
