Grace's POV

I ran to the office as soon as it was obvious that I couldn't catch up with the man dragging Renda away. I found the keys in the drawer and called Matt on the way out of the door, clicking the unlocking button and the remote start. A sporty-looking car revved to life nearby and I ran to it. I had to move fast. There was no telling how far away they'd gotten by now.

"Grace?"

"They took Renda! I don't know who. I didn't recognize them. I'm going after them now."

"Grace, there's a trace on-"

"Trace mine and the car! Tell me which way they're headed and hurry."

"You can't-"

"I'm not letting my luna go into battle by herself," I growled and threw the car into drive, pressing the gas and gliding through the streets until I could make out the car in the distance.

They weren't driving incredibly fast, but they were moving faster than most cars. I was able to slip through traffic behind them and follow at a safe distance. Something flew out of the window, and my mind kept reeling.

It was easier to think of what was happening now than all those years ago, but the same fear gripped me. I couldn't lose another luna when our little pack had just started to form. She was young and a bit naïve, but she had potential.

"They snatched her right out of the club. It had to be someone who had been to Club Heaven before. A bottle of whiskey says it's Justin."

"The trace on her phone just stopped moving. There's no trace on your phone yet."

"Then trace the car!"

I skidded around a corner, my heart hammering with fear. Demi was howling a battle cry as someone tried to cut me off as we exited the city. I recognized the path and the area of the city. Justin had a private party once at his house. It had been the first time I met Chloe though we hadn't gotten to speak a single word to one another.

I remember seeing my future in her and wanting to die.

"Warhammer Guard is tracing the car; they'll be right behind you. They're about ten minutes behind you. Do not engage them."

"Don't you leave that party."

"The f**k are you-"

"You leave that party and all this work with Mordecai will have gone to waste. Trust me on that. You said Warhammer Guard is on the way, then trust them to get here in time."

"Renda will never forgive me if you got hurt. As it is, I won't forgive myself that she was taken out of my club. How am I supposed to just stay here, Grace?"

The agony in his voice made me shudder as I pulled to a stop just beyond Justin's house. I saw them get out of the car and took a deep breath, slipping out of the car.

"Because you don't have a choice." Matt let out a harsh breath. "I'm going in, but I'm leaving the phone on."

"Grace-!"

I tucked the phone into my shirt and crept closer. Renda was dragged into the house. There didn't seem to be any other security around, but I was careful to stay low to the ground and move through the shadows.

The door slammed shut as I drew closer to the house, looking for a way in that wouldn't give me away. The windows were all shuttered except for the kitchen window. I could see Chloe pouring drinks in sky-high heels, wearing nothing but a lace bodysuit.

I swallowed and took a chance after she turned with the tray in her hands. I checked the window for any kind of sensor, remembering the ones that were on the windows at Club Heaven back when I lived in the dorms.

There wasn't one and it slid open easily. I removed my shoes and lifted myself in through the window.

I heard a scream nearby and a sharp thud. My heart hammered as I crouched on the counter and slipped down. I closed the window quietly and pulled a knife from the knife block before slipping down to the side of the cabinets that were obscured by the table. I took a deep breath, letting Demi take a profile of anything she could manage.

Meat, she said. It's everywhere. I can't smell anything else.

I glanced at the oven where a roast was going as Chloe walked back into the kitchen. She spared a glance in my direction before coming to a stop at the stove. Our gazes met in the reflection of the microwave and she shook her head just a little. I froze in place, curling into the shadow of the cabinet as the screaming got louder.

"You aren't? Are you a f*****g moron?" A man hissed. "You didn't think-"

"What the f**k does that matter?" Justin growled back.

"Of course, it matters, you idiot. He's going to think I've crossed him and kill us all!"

I frowned, straining my ears to hear everything. The man was probably someone who worked for Ben. Renda screamed and there was a solid thunk before someone else cried out.

"For f**k's sake, what do we do?"

"Nothing. Andrew!"

I heard a door open then another voice joined them, "What's wrong?"

"We have a f*****g problem. This idiot is working for Wade, not Ben. We need to move quickly. Get her ready to transport back to Skyfall. We'll deal with her-"

"The hell you will! You're not cutting me out of the deal."

"You did this to yourself."

"I'll tell-"

"You cross me and I'll f*****g kill you! Put the phone down!"

"You think he's going to let either of us off?" Justin asked, "You're stuck with me now, so either we get out of this together or not at all."

Chloe opened the oven and gave me a slight nod. I got into a crouch and tiptoed around the kitchen as footsteps walked past. Justin and two other men went past towards the front of the house.

I slipped behind them, careful to slip into the room as quietly as possible. Renda was on the ground. Her clothes were half torn. Her eye was bruised and blood trickled out of her nose. I locked the door and crept over to her. I covered her mouth as she startled. Her eyes widened and watered as she looked up at me. I turned her over gently and slipped the knife through the zip tie around her wrists. She grunted, rolling over as I went to search the room for something of use. I heard another voice, a woman, in the front room and stiffened. I recognized that voice.

Teagan O'Brian was here.

I pulled out my phone and gave it to Renda, "Talk to him, but quietly."

"H-Hello?" she whispered. She shivered, clinging to the phone as she listened. I watched her whole body seem to relax. "O-Okay. Okay. W-We'll do our best."

"Teagan is here," I said leaning close enough to be heard.

Renda looked up at me, "We can't leave yet..."

I frowned at her as she covered the speaker of the phone and spoke softly, "They know who I am."

I clenched the knife in my hand and nodded. Whoever she was talking about needed to be dealt with first. Renda got to her feet and went back to speaking with Matt as I searched the room. I found a false bottom drawer in the desk and pulled out the gun. It was a polished, black Glock, but the magazine wasn't with it.

"Do you know how to fire a gun?" I asked.

Renda shook her head looking pale.

"I don't give a f**k if you can't ride his c**k-"

"Don't be stupid," Teagan hissed. "When Mordecai decides to tell him that she's with Matt, what hope do you have in keeping him in Frost Pelt?"

"Cindy?" Justin asked, "Is the Blue Ice princess?"

I'd never heard it put that way, but I suppose it was accurate.

"Her name's Emoni," Teagan growled, "The only reason he hasn't told him yet is-"

"Mordecai wants her," Justin said, "He's going to try and replace a way to get her away from Matt before revealing that she's in Midnight." "She's better off dead."

"Well, then go back to the club and get her yourself. We're busy."

"Don't you walk away from me-"

"F**k you-"

Something thudded, "I am an alpha and you will show me respect, you lowly imposter!"

Someone snarled and another thud filled the air. Another came and I heard Justin's footsteps coming down the hallway.

"To hell with this bullshit," he cursed from the other side of the door. He tried the door, and it rattled as I searched for the magazine.

Renda backed up around the desk towards me, tucking the phone in her pocket. She scrambled for something before the door burst open, and he glared across the room.

He laughed, "Little Cindy's got a future in breaking and entering. Maybe I will do that bitch a favor and kill you. You're not worth nearly as much as she is."

He chuckled looking at me, searching through the desk before he pulled out the magazine from his jacket pocket and blew me a kiss.

"So sad, doll."

"Get behind me," I said, pulling Renda back and lifting the knife between us.

"You think you'll overpower me with a kitchen knife?" He asked, "I'll gut you like a fish."

"When you have a chance, run," I said. "Warhammer Guard is on the way."

He paled, "F**k."

I darted around the desk, aiming the knife at his chest. He darted aside and grabbed my wrist, twisting hard enough that it cracked. I cried out and slammed my knee into his groin. "Bitch!" He turned and threw me out the door. I slammed into the wall with a groan and he came toward me.

"No!"

He shoved Renda away like a harmless fly before coming towards me. I saw a shadow move out of the corner of my eye as he reached me and grabbed me around the throat.

"I bet Mordecai would be pissed to know I've got my hand around your throat like this," he grinned. "I know how much he likes to choke his whores-"

I heard the rush wind and a grunt. He released me so quickly and I coughed, rubbing my neck.

"Doll?"
