Azian Prince of Dragons
Chapter 22 — Tar

Tar's POV

I felt very heavy, like there was something very heavy on me.

I tried opening my eyes, but my eyelids wouldn't budge.

I could hear some muffled voices in the distance.

Finally, my eyelids opened slowly, but all I could see was a blur.

I sighed heavily as my eye lids shut closed again and I was once again drowned into the darkness but not before I felt something touch me.

*********

I opened my eyes quickly wondering where I was. I was currently sleeping on a rather large type of bed.

I quickly sat up in bed but winced when I felt a strong surge pass through me like electricity.

I groaned in pain as it left me, but I would not let something as little as pain get the best of me. Growling, I propped myself up in bed, my large hands combing through my hair which seemed had gotten longer in just a few hours. Hours?

The palace! Abigail! The king!My brain blurted as I threw the covers off my body and swung my powerful legs to the side.

I stepped out of bed but missed a step as my body fell to the floor crashing the tray and bowl that had been put next to the bed.

Someone rushed into the room which was more like a tent. I looked up and saw a palace guard rush to me, trying to help me up.

I growled pushing him away fiercely, "I don't need your help!" I roared as he was thrown across the tent.

The heavy armor he had on created a loud clashing noise as he made contact with the floor.

I might look weak, but I still had all my power.

Scratch that, I am NOT weak.

I managed to get stand up staggering a little holding on to the side of the drawers for support.

It was then when I noticed my left hand had been bandaged up and was pressed against my chest in a sling.

"I see the beast is awake" someone said.

I glared up at the person.

"Hydra," I growled out. I knew it was Louis because the king insisted they wore name tags.

It was quite a disadvantage that the hydras all looked the same.

But sometimes I think they switch name tags to just confuse us, that's why most people prefer to call them hydras. Plus, they liked it as well. He grinned, "it's about time old friend,"

"The King and Qu-"

"Are alright as well," he cut me off earning a deep growl from me, no one cuts me off, he was lucky I considered him a good friend.

He grinned as I slowly sat down on the bed.

I touched my bruised arm letting the pain surge through me slowly.

Pain was not my weakness Pain was my strength.

My heart began to thump wildly, "where's Edwin? Abigail?" I asked.

If I lost them I don't know what I would do. Well at least Edwin.

Hydra sighed, "We don't know,"

"What?! What do you mean you don't know!!!" I bellowed the tent shaking at the mere power of my voice.

I could feel my scales shaping on my bare skin "Where the hell is Abigail?! She was supposed to protect him!!" I yelled my eyes turning deep red as my dragon pushed to be seen.

I was strong, but I'm surprised how stronger my dragon felt. Almost like he hadn't been let to roam free for days, strange when I've only been out for a few hours.

"We can't replace your watcher either," hydra replied not at all intimidated by

Maybe because his dragon or rather their dragon and mine were so close.

Dragon.

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion, my body was starting to give off raw heat, "what the hell do you mean?" I snapped.

Hydra sighed, "You know the rules Tar, you can't transform in the village. Plus, the king and queen are in the tent next door and damn will they be pissed if they get stomped over by Flame,"

Flame was the name of my Dragon. I was the biggest dragon in the whole kingdom.

The king's dragon came second but he was stronger than me despite the fact that he didn't have wings. He still could fly since his magic lied in the Air element.

Then came the hydras, who could easily be double my size if you ever cut off their heads, but in their regular four headed form they weren't as big.

I growled at his words.

"Well, have it your way, because I won't say anything else until you calm down," Hydra Louis informed me.

After noticing that the room just became hotter he sighed and began to walk away.

"Wait!" I yelled, "I'll calm down," I said, realizing I had a lot of unanswered questions on my mind.

Louis paused turning back to me.

I put my hand up, telling him to wait as I tried to calm flame.

It took a few minutes, but the room soon went back to its previous temperature.

I looked up at Louis who was standing a little ways from me, his arms folded with one raised eyebrow.

"How long have I been out?" I asked expecting it to be a few hours.

"Four days," Louis replied.

My head jolted upwards ignoring the pain that surged through my body.

"Four days?" I echoed "Yes, the castle is in ruins, there's nothing left of it. You're lucky my brothers and I sensed the king's trouble and got there in time to take you away, a minute later and you would have all been dead, thank my super speed for that," he concluded.

My eyebrows furrowed. "Four days. It's been four days?" I still couldn't believe it.

"That's right, you've been out like a light," Louis chuckled.

I looked away from him, I felt flame pushing to get out.

No wonder he was extra powerful.

I let out a raspy breath, "damn," I cursed, my eyes a blazing red.

My gaze shifted back to the Hydra before me.

"Did you catch them?" I asked referring to the cloaked figures who had so quickly disarmed us.

"No, we don't know who they are, but I did catch a glimpse of one of them before they disappeared into thin air,"

"Then they must be Kayans?" I asked in an unconvinced tone.

The kayans were a group of rebel dragons, they cause havoc here and there, but nothing serious.

They consisted mostly of lower ranking fire dragons and cobalt dragons, the only dragons who could do raw magic, but even they weren't us powerful as that attack.

Plus, they really weren't into killing or mass destruction. Most of them just wanted a way out of the forest and held demonstrations to get the kings attention.

I didn't really blame them, we all wanted to see what the outside realm looked like.

It had been ten thousand years of seeing the same trees and people.

But even so, going against the king held a penalty. And my loyalty was to King Saga, Queen Rebecca and his royal highness, his majesty Prince Azian.

Furthermore, after the birth of the golden dragon, there have been less riots and demonstrations, since now everyone is assured our time to rule will soon be upon us. Most of the kayans had come back to our side.

We needed to unify ourselves so when the boy becomes of age we might win the battle that is to come.

That is why I was unconvinced that the enemy was them or any other dragon, it was simply impossible.

Louis shook his head, "the kayans have do not have enough power to pull off such a thing, and we both know the goal of the kayans is not to kill the king, they love our king, they are just tired of living in this dreaded forest. Plus, I was spying the kayans at that time, none of them were even near or talking about the king or the palace, actually most of them were thinking about stopping and joining the ranks to prepare for the upcoming battle,"

I nodded slowly, "then we must have some other enemies," I paused turning to him, "Do you think they came outside the barrier?" I asked.

Louis paused for a minute and shook his head," impossible, there is only one way they could get into the barrier according to legend, but the bands of Arkiah have been buried deep in the heart of a mountain somewhere in the ancient mountains of Galatia, it would be impossible to get to it without very, very strong magic, and it would take years," he reminded me.

I nodded, that was out of the question.

"Plus, the people who did this also used xink,"

My head snapped towards him as I heard this revelation.

Xink was the only dragon plant poison known. It was very rare and only grew in small proportions, it took 100 of this flowers to create a pinch of xink.

It had to be grounded into fine dark powder, as light as grains of wheat.

It would be hard for any dragon to manage to even touch them, which brings me back to the thought that these new 'enemies' could not have been dragons.

I looked at the hydra suspiciously, "could it be the el-"

"It can't be the elves or the fairies," he interrupted in a loud whisper.

The elves.

Most people thought they were extinct much like most people thought we were extinct.

Elves and fairies and fae were our only faithful allies during the great battle.

They fought fiercely and bravely with us, they watched us burn there precious forest was burnt to ashes during the battle.

Many fell on both sides in that fearful day.

But the weak elves and faeries fell hardest.

They were wiped into almost extinction, meaning they were only four elves remaining and less than ten fairies.

The elves and fairies however have grown numerously just like we have seeing that most elf women and fairies are very fertile.

They have a huge village which they live side by side. However, this village is sealed off by elven magic, a few have ever visited it and even less knew about their existence, unless of course the king and Queen, the hydras me and some loyal guards.

The leader of the elves and fairies name was Elzar, very good in magic, he was sometimes summoned to help us, and you could call him our personal sorcerer.

He was also the oldest creature I have come across; he was more than a thousand years old but nevertheless maintained his tall youthful look.

Those were elves for you.

He also knew a lot about the outside realm and such norms and magic.

Apart from all that the elves and faeries were loyal to the dragons, in the olden times when the Goldens used to rule, faeries and elves where their closest friends, who served them faithfully, then came the winged men but those were traitors. Rotten to the core.

I believe Elzar is the oldest creature in the supernatural realm.

King Saga was four hundred and fifty five, whilst Queen Rebecca was a century younger.

I myself was three decades younger than king Saga.

Dragons did live a long time, the time limit for a dragon was eight hundred and fifty to nine hundred, some lucky ones lived longer, golden dragons also had a numerous years to live, no one really knows how long, but the last golden dragon died at one thousand six hundred and two and the first golden dragon past over two thousand.

We also took very long to replace our partners and settle down, but after the battle there was a lot of mating done.

But even so, a female dragon took long to get pregnant, they weren't very fertile, since dragons live long, their fertility isn't very strong, a woman could have one child, once every hundred years, some had twins, but it would be very unlikely for her to become pregnant the next century and if she did it would likely to be a girl.

That is why birthdays where a big deal here.

Of course, I am well aware that they are other creatures which are immortal but the thing with being an immortal is that you acquire loads of enemies and are likely to be killed off before you hit a thousand.

I am yet to be proved wrong.

Hydra sighed, "it can't be the elves, because part of the reason you are alive is because Elzar came to help, with all that xink, you and the king and queen inhaled you could have died, and I need you to come with us as we break the news to the king and queen, "

"Elzar's here? Wait, what news?" I bellowed.

"Yes, Elzar's here, he appeared just after we managed to get you guys out of the castle, you know he can sense danger from afar, plus he is very loyal to the king and queen and adores prince Azian above all,"

I nodded, during Azian's massive headaches a weak ago, it was only through Elzar's magical potions that the boy got through them. Elzar treated Azian like he was his own son but at the same time like he was serving a god or his maker. He often chatted on and on about Azian power, which we all felt in his famous winds and when he was feeling angry or sad his lightening and storms.

Azian was indeed marvelous, more powerful than the elf, and a beautiful specimen to gaze upon.

It's just the small fact that he hadn't yet Trans-

"He managed to get some of the xink out of your systems, he however said you shouldn't transform, or you could do some serious damage with it in your system, so like I said you need to calm down," "Tell that to Flame, he is itching to come outside," I grumbled.

"Well, he has to WAIT for a whole lot longer or else there will be serious consequences including loss of eyesight and sense of feeling if you make the mistake to transform before you're fully healed." "Loss of what?!" I echoed

"The xink is targeted for your dragon, so if you transform with even just a trace of it in your system, everything could go wrong,"

"You mean anything,"

"No, I meant what I said, everything,"

I grunted lowly.

"Don't worry General, you still have your super strength," Louis replied tilting his head to the palace guard who lay sprawled on the floor still unconscious.

I nodded avoiding the smile threatening to leave my face.

I rolled my shoulders back sighing deeply before my head snapped back to Hydra.

"What did you mean when you said you needed my help talking to the king?" I asked suddenly remembering

Louis sighed leaning against an armor, "we have a serious problem, one the king and queen will not take delight in,"

I furrowed my large bushy eyebrows, "and?"

"Azian is missing, we couldn't replace him" he finished.

Damn it.
