Azian Prince of Dragons
Chapter 23 — The War Has Began

Tar's POV

The king slowly got up from bed, one of the hydras Pete, tried to help him stand up but the King raised up his left hand which famously meant 'don't you dare touch me.'

He looked around at us, his gaze resting on hydra Louis, "what did you say?" He asked sending him a deathly glare.

Here it goes.

"Your majesty, prince Azian is missi—"

King Saga sent a dagger flying to wards Louis missing him an inch.

He did not miss at all. He aimed for those inches above his head.

Louis breathed out nervously.

Lucky bastard.

I knew the king wouldn't kill any hydra no matter how angry he was. The hydras were the most loyal of loyal he had and very, very useful. Plus, they could throw a good party as well. The king's deep growls filled his private chamber or rather makeshift chambers in this large tent.

The king did not look as fierce as I did but he could get really scary if he wanted to. Just like he was doing right now.

"My son is missing!!!" He bellowed.

As soon as he said that, all the hydras dropped to their knees at the sheer power is his voice, he was half golden dragon, although it did not show physically.

I would have dropped to my knees too if the king had not been my close friend and of course if not for my injuries.

The king turned his face away from us, his bare back showing his muscles as he grunted in displeasure.

He was pissed.

And so was I.

Bad combination.

"He is still alive, I would have felt it if anything happened to him," he growled still facing the wall.

"We have already searched the whole forest my lord, I don't understand where his highness, Prince Azian and his guardian is. Also, the watcher has been missing too, they were no human remains amongst the remains of the castle. I must admit it has us confused your majesty," another hydra spoke up rather bravely.

The king turned to face the brave hydra whose name tag read Gavin.

Gavin quickly bowed his head keeping his gaze on the ground like his brothers did.

I raised my head staring straight at the king

"Do you think that maybe our attackers kidnapped them?" I questioned.

It was a huge possibility.

The king's eyes widened a little as it dawned upon him.

He breathed out harshly.

I sighed as he threw a tray smash against his chamber walls furiously.

"Who the hell are they anyway? Did you know the attackers?" I asked.

His bright red eyes faced me. That face alone would scare guys shitless, but I on the other hand could laugh it off.

Nothing scared me.

"I have never laid eyes on him before, his skin was pale and his eyes changed color like he was sick or something," the king growled out.

I paused watching him attentively, "did they say anything to you? Why they attacked perhaps, maybe where they are from?"

Saga shook his head in frustration then froze as if he remembered something, "he said his name was King Arth or King...Alec! Yes King Alec and that my time was up,"

"A king?" Louis echoed lifting his head slowly.

"There is only one king of the Dragons," I scoffed shifting in my seat.

The king was silent as if in deep thought. He managed to sit slowly back on the bed,

Xink was a bitch.

"You're right, I am the only king, and there's no way there could be another dragon kingdom existing for ten thousand years in this same forest without us noticing," "Especially one with magic so great he could create a cloaking spell," Elzar spoke for the first time.

He was standing a few feet away from me.

A guard walked in and everyone stared at him.

He looked uncomfortable under the king and I's gaze.

He knelt down shaking.

I grinned evilly at his weakness "Speak soldier!" Elzar bellowed.

Elzar was a tad pissed off let's just say. Especially because his favorite dragon was missing and could be in danger.

He was usually a sort of kind looking man with his usual crooked scowl.

The guard cleared his throat, "her majesty queen Rebecca is awake," he informed.

"Keep her in bed, we still have things to discuss, and she still needs rest," king Saga replied.

"I don't need rest; I need to know what is going on in my kingdom!" a voice said.

We all stared at the Queen who still looked beautiful despite her sickly stance and leaning on a guard who was holding her up by her waist.

The king growled at the guard as his eyes traced to where he was holding his Queen.

The guard bowed his head quickly kneeling as Elzar took the queen,

"I'm sorry your majesty, her highness insisted," he pleaded his forehead nearly kissing the ground.

"Oh, let it be Saga, he really didn't have a choice," Queen Rebecca concluded, she knew how jealous her husband was and this time especially was not the time to be provoking him. Saga's eyes shifted to his queen in a low grunt as Elzar helped her to the seat beside me.

"Your highness," I greeted bowing my head.

She patted my other arm, "Tar," she replied nodding.

Everyone was staring at the queen when she suddenly turned to face them, "I have a feeling Azian is not in this camp," she said softly, her voice breaking at the end.

Saga sighed, shaking his head. "W-we think our attackers must have taken him,"

She closed her eyes, a tear slipping out from her fair cheek. The hydras looked away as did I.

It was forbidden to look upon a weeping Queen, it would bring you bad luck.

Only her husband the king could.

I heard a few grunts and steps and concluded King Saga was painfully making his way to his wife.

"My love, I swear we will replace him, I know he still lives, it is not easy to kill a golden dragon,"

"He is only six," the queen replied softly.

The king sighed, "He is stronger than you think my love, "the king eased.

She sucked in her breath sharply, "where is the maid, the watcher, uh. Abigail?" She asked in soft breaths.

"She has not been found along with the little guardian," Reye another hydra spoke up.

She breathed out nervously, "then they must have made it," she said in a soft whisper.

I almost turned my head to face her. But stopped grasping the edge of my chair tightly.

"What do you mean my Queen?" King Saga asked.

"I told her to take Azian and Edwin outside the forest,"

"You used the portal?" Elzar questioned.

"I told her to use it and gave her the password after she informed me the castle was under siege."

"But the portal is at the top if the east wing, are you sure she made it in time?" I asked.

If Abigail did, then she must be alive and with my boy and prince Azian.

I knew she was special. My heart thumped at the thought of both Azian, Edwin and Abigail alive and well, but I must not jump to conclusions.

Could she have made it to the east tower in less than ten minutes? And how did she get to Queen Rebecca so fast when she was standing right beside me when I was attacked?

I refuse to believe she was that fast. Come to think of it, our attacker was abnormally fast.

The only dragon that fast were the hydras and he was not one of them.

"She could teleport," the queen replied.

All of us snapped our heads to look at her without thinking.

Thankfully she had already wiped her tears.

"Teleport? That's impossible unless she was an ELF or a "

"Witch," Rebecca finished cutting Elzar off.

"Abigail? A witch?" I asked dumbfounded.

Never in a million years would I have guest.

I knew she was strange, refusing to hunt with Edwin and me.

I figured it was because she was scared of Flame, I mean who wasn't? But Flame had come to like her and her amazing breakfasts and the way she treated Edwin.

There was no way he would ever hurt her.

I did think she was strange, given the fact that she was oblivious to some of the dragon rules.

She didn't even know where the market was which was strange.

As you reach the final pages, remember that 000005s.org is your destination for the complete story. Share the joy of reading with others and spread the word. The next chapter is just a visit away! There was only one market in Gard.

"T-that's impossible, it would mean she came from over the "

"Barrier," I finished rudely cutting the king off.

He didn't seem to notice as all of us were still in pure shock.

"T-that means t-that s-she, she had a band of Arkiah," Elzar stuttered.

I remembered seeing a bracelet on her wrist. A bronze faded one.

It could be the one. If it was it made so much sense. Why she would never tell me where she was from.

Why she looked smaller than most dragon women.

Why I never saw her in a dragon form.

And I bet that was why my milk always tasted sweet and slippery whenever she made breakfast.

I have been drinking the same milk for centuries, I always wondered how she made it taste so sweet.

How dare she?! Lie to me after I showed her so much hospitality! Going out of my way to make her feel comfortable.

I apologized to her! I have never issued an apology to anyone, not even the king in my four centuries if being alive.

My father did not believe in apologies, made for weaklings he would often say.

I allowed that traitor in my home! Allowed her near MY son, allowed her to cook my meals!

Anything could have happened, she could have easily poisoned me and my son.

But why didn't she?

I paused.

Maybe because she needed us to get to Azian!

Damn it!

When I get my hands on her, she will regret the moment she dared step foot in my forest, in my presence.

That little bitch.

I growled lowly in displeasure; I could feel flame heating me up.

He felt betrayed. He had finally started to like he...

It doesn't even matter anymore. She is just a corpse walking only a matter of time.

"She claimed to be an ally, a friend and I was too desperate at the moment to question her to the full extent as the guards had come in and she offered her services, I don't know if she escaped because I can't remember what happened next," The king grunted standing up, "it doesn't matter then, even if Azian and Edwin did escape their attackers their still in the hands of another enemy maybe even worse. She was sneaky enough to gain our trust, we only have one more option," He turned to look at me nodded.

I stood up straight ignoring my useless pain.

"The war has begun," I announced.
