Back to Love: A New Beginning -
Chapter 192
Chapter 192:
Janie bit her lip and finally spoke.
“When I saw Felix throw down with you, I knew I could never take you away from him, because it’s clear he’s madly in love with you and I no longer have a place in his heart.”
Then she lifted her chin, doing her best to hold back tears. Even after she walked away from us, I could sense how heartbroken she was.
Truth be told, I wasn’t sure if her love for Felix was pure or not. After all, Janie didn’t seem to be a simple woman, and she had once given up on Felix. Perhaps because she felt hurt, she now realized how well Felix treated her when they were together. But it made me wonder, how much love would be left after a painful breakup?
Felix seemed to want to say something, but held back the words. He knew he should be very grateful to Louise for what she did for Janie. But saying “thank you” for that didn’t seem appropriate. He had no reason to thank Louise for helping his ex-girlfriend.
In the end, he said, “Louise, now and for the rest of my life, I promise to be good to you.”
Even I was moved by his declaration of love. I knew Louise must have been moved too. Although she didn’t appear to be moved, I knew her well enough to know that she was moved.
Moments later, she smiled and shouted, “Can you stop being so fucking namby-pamby?” It was the first time I had ever seen her so embarrassed by another man.
Felix, on the other hand, was grinning like a fool.
Soon, I bought some food for them. When they finished dinner, Derek called me. He said he was off duty at the time and would come to the hospital to pick me up. It was already late fall and the beginning of winter was approaching. The day was shorter now, so it was getting dark earlier than usual.
When I left the hospital, I didn’t see Derek’s car anywhere, so I waited by the roadside.
Suddenly, someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and saw three men behind me. One of them put his hand on my shoulder, while pressing something against my waist with his other hand. His other companions stood around me, clearly concealing that they were pointing a gun at me. I lowered my head and saw the knife right at my waist.
“Try to move a muscle and you’ll see how much damage this dagger can do to you,” the man next to me warned.
At first I wanted to scream, but after hearing his threat, I shut up.
Right now there weren’t many people at the hospital door. Everyone was in a hurry to leave or enter the hospital, so no one noticed that I had been kidnapped. Even if someone did notice, very few people would be asking for trouble.

Soon, a white minivan pulled up in front of me.
“Get in the van,” the man said. I could feel the cold tip of the knife at my waist even through the layer of clothing I was wearing.
Since I was at a distinct disadvantage, I had to obey and climb into the minivan.
The moment I had one foot inside the minivan, I froze. I couldn’t move my other foot, because I noticed a familiar Maybach nearby.
A spark of hope ignited in my heart and made me feel that there was a small chance of survival. I wanted to scream Derek’s name for help, regardless of the threat to my life. However, someone pushed me from behind, making me stumble into the van before I could do anything.
Soon, the door closed and the car started. I immediately got up and glanced out the window. The Maybach’s headlights were off, but Derek didn’t get out of it, so he must have been waiting for me.
Meanwhile, the minivan was driving as fast as it could and I was getting farther and farther away from it.
Not long after, someone pulled me backwards and I fell backwards. My hands were tied behind my back with rope, wrapped around my wrists.
“Don’t worry,” said someone beside me. I turned my head and saw the man who had pointed a knife at me earlier. It looked like he must have been the one who had tied me up. He was now sitting next to me, fiddling with his dagger.
I forced myself to calm down and took a look around. There were six men in all inside the minivan, including the driver. Each man had various tattoos on his arms. The only one who was different was the one playing with the knife.
In contrast to his companions, he seemed calmer. He kept looking at his weapon, twirling it around. Although he did not move from his place, his mere presence sent a shiver down my spine.
I didn’t scream for help, because I knew it was useless. Screaming would only put me in more danger. So I regulated my breathing and asked, “Who the hell are you? What do you want from me?”
The man stopped twirling his dagger and gave me a devilish grin.
“What do you think a man likes to do with a woman?”. Hearing his comment, all the other men in the van laughed.
