Chapter 295:

“Imbecile!”

I was bursting with anger and embarrassment, I wanted so badly to slap him.

However, he managed to grab my wrist in mid-air.

He looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Since you think I’m an asshole, I guess I’ll have to do something bad to you.”

The sound of his voice softened and his words were quite ambiguous.

I shook his hand to show my irritation and, fortunately, this time he let me go.

“To tell you the truth, I’m used to sleeping alone. Unfortunately, there is only one bed. I can’t ask too much, given our current situation. We’ll just have to cuddle up in bed. Besides, it’s just for tonight,” he said.

At that moment, I was speechless.

Alvaro walked over to the bed to sit up, and then gave me a mischievous look. “Don’t you want to sleep? You think I’m some kind of abuser or something? Don’t worry, Eveline. I won’t do anything to you.” The way she spoke made it sound like this was amusing to her.

Even if it was just one night, it was still dangerous to be in the same room as a man like Alvaro, not to mention that he had had the audacity to kiss me just now. I would never believe anything that came out of this man’s mouth.

“Are you really not going to sleep? Well, good night then! I’m going to bed now,” he added. However, I ignored him. Soon after, he took off his shoes and lay down on the bed.

Bang!

My eyes widened and I burst out laughing.

Did the bed just collapse? Did that really just happen?

I laughed out loud, especially when I saw her originally relaxed expression turn to shock the moment the bed collapsed.

When Hunter and the others heard the noise, they immediately went to our room.

Hearing a knock at the door, I went to open it. And when the others came in, Alvaro jumped up and got off the broken bed.

The moment they saw what had happened, they all laughed, looked at me and Alvaro, apparently hinting at something.

It was then that I realized that they had misinterpreted what had happened. My face immediately turned red.

Hunter walked over to the bed to inspect it. He looked embarrassed and apologized for the broken bed. “To be honest, no one has slept in this room for a long time. It used to be a spare bedroom for anyone who couldn’t make it down the mountain. I guess the bed must have deteriorated by now. I’m so sorry.”

Alvaro cleared his throat. The dim light hid his embarrassment.

“It’s okay whether we can sleep well or not. I’m glad we were able to stay somewhere away from the snowstorm,” he said.

Then, the others expressed that they couldn’t sleep either. They were playing cards in the next room. I assumed they planned to play all night to pass the time.

One of them suggested that Alvaro join them to play cards, and he agreed.

They also invited me to see them, but I declined.

I was now the only one left in the room. It was dark and eerily silent.

Fortunately, the flashlight from Alvaro’s phone was enough to

illuminate the room somehow.

Outside the window, I could hear the whistling sound of the wind.

As the curtains fluttered due to the wind, the shadows on the wall seemed to dance, and gave me chills. Honestly, I felt a little scared.

Moments later, the door was pushed open and Alvaro entered with a basin in his hand.

As he set the basin down on the floor, I noticed that there was a burnt coal in it.

“Why aren’t you playing cards with them?” I asked him.

He smiled at me. “If I played with them for a whole night, I would have won all their money. I’d rather not do that to those nice people,” he said.

“Are you interested in being a gambling god or something?”.

Silently, Alvaro got up and walked to the corner of the room to pick up an abandoned long board. Then, he put the plank next to the brazier and sat on it cross-legged. Then, he gave me a look and patted the spot next to him.

“Come. Sit with me,” he said.

But I didn’t move.

At that moment, the light on his phone suddenly went out and the room was shrouded in pitch darkness.
