Chapter 304:.

The Sousen police were very efficient. In less than five minutes, I could already hear their siren from a distance. Two police cars quickly pulled up behind us. Several policemen got out of the cars.

It was then that Derek approached them and shook hands with his commanding officer.

“Was it you who called the police?” the police captain said.

Derek nodded and pointed to Tina as he knelt on the snow-covered ground. “It was me. By the way, that’s the mother of the missing baby.”

Tina was tearful and devastated at this point. When she realized what was happening, she crawled over to the police captain and grabbed his leg.

“My baby is in there! Listen. He’s crying right now. He’s so afraid of strangers. He doesn’t want anybody but me. Please, sir! Have mercy on me and my baby.” The police captain nodded in response.

“Don’t worry, miss. If what you say is true, we will surely help you.”

I walked over and tried to help her up.

“Tina, you need to calm down. These nice policemen will help you, I’m sure.”

Finally, Tina stopped crying and loosened her grip on the police captain’s leg. Then the police captain knocked on the door and shouted into a megaphone.

Soon, the iron door opened from the inside. It was Belinda who opened it.

At the same time, Lean was standing in the living room, scowling and smoking recklessly.

After talking to the police, Belinda explained that Lily was her granddaughter and that the baby’s father was at home.

The police captain looked at Belinda suspiciously. Then, he turned his gaze to Tina. “Do you have a marriage certificate?”

Tina shook her head, desolate over the matter. The next moment, she got down on her knees and bowed to Belinda, “Mrs. Sullivan, please! Have mercy and give me back my daughter.”

Each time Tina bowed, she left an imprint of her head in the snow. Meanwhile, Belinda merely stood with her arms folded across her chest, arrogantly towering over Tina.

“If you insist on getting this child back, then you will agree that, from now on, the child will have nothing to do with our family,” Belinda said.

Tina slowly raised her head and brushed the strands of hair out of her face. She turned away from Belinda and looked at Lean. After calming down, she managed to stop herself from crying. “I never wanted anything from the Sullivan Family, and I never expected to be with Lean. I just wanted to see him safe and sound. And now that he’s out of jail, I’m happy already. I have nothing more to ask for.”

“We have a deal, then!” With that said, Belinda turned around and walked into the house.

Soon, she came out along with Lily as the baby cried in her arms.

Tina was so excited to get her daughter back that she rushed over to Belinda and grabbed Lily from Belinda’s arms. Lily was crying so hard that her face started to turn red. Once embraced by her mother, she snuggled into Tina’s chest. Although her crying was now faint, she still couldn’t stop crying.

The police said they would accompany Tina home. But before she could go with them, she took one last look at Lean.

Lean didn’t even deign to look at her. But she could see he had no heart to be cruel to his daughter. After the police car drove away, Lean walked to a corner of the yard and got on his bike with a cigarette in his mouth.

Before he could leave, Belinda grabbed his arm. “Where are you going, Lean? It’s freezing outside. You shouldn’t go. I was just making some soup for you. When I finish making it, you can have it.”

Lean started his bike, letting the engine roar.

“I’m upset. Can’t I go outside and get some air? I’m sick of being cooped up. Are you seriously going to coop me up now that I’m home?”

Belinda pulled her hand away and replied, “I’m only doing it for your sake.”

Ignoring her, Lean turned his bike around and sped out of the yard.

After watching his son leave, Belinda’s eyes landed on me. Instantly, her gaze turned sharp. I preferred not to look at someone as cold-blooded as that woman, so I turned away.

Then, I went to Derek’s side and grabbed his cold hand.

“Come on,” I said to him.

Derek flicked his cigarette butt and then we got into the car one after the other.
