Back to Love: A New Beginning -
Chapter 305
Chapter 305:
Derek started the car and drove very fast. I sensed something was wrong with him, so I looked at him to gauge a response on his face.
He was looking straight ahead and his eyes were sharper than usual. It took a while, but we finally caught up with Lean.
Lean glanced behind him and accelerated suddenly, widening the distance between us.
With both hands on the wheel, Derek began to accelerate as well.
Soon after, the distance between our car and Lean’s bike shortened, but Lean managed to pull away even further.
The brothers were chasing each other on the road. This situation was very dangerous, so I fastened my seat belt as if my life depended on it.
“Derek, please slow down!”
“Sit properly.”
The moment he said that, he drove even faster.
As we chased Lean, we were soon out of the center of town. Both Derek and Lean were now driving on a wide, empty asphalt road. I wasn’t sure if Derek had stepped on the gas yet, but I could feel that we were moving at breakneck speed.
It didn’t take us long to catch up with Lean. All the way there, my heart was pounding. I was sitting tightly in my seat, too horrified to move a muscle.
After overtaking Lean’s vehicle, Derek made a sharp turn and slammed on the car’s brakes. I stumbled forward and nearly hit my head on the glove box. When I turned my head, I saw Lean hurtling toward our car.
Just when I thought he was going to hit our car, he stopped. Through the window, I saw his anger, and his eyes showed how upset he was about what had happened.
By the time I regained my composure, Derek had already opened the door and gotten out of the car. After dragging Lean off the bike, Derek punched him hard in the face. I was so shocked by what happened that I wanted to get out and stop them. However, the door on my side was blocked by the motorcycle Lean had parked.
They were fighting as if they were not brothers, but mortal enemies. I had to crawl into the driver’s seat to get out of the car.
Derek and Lean were about the same height, but the former seemed stronger than the latter. However, Lean was a force to be reckoned with. He didn’t respect any rules, and every punch he threw was enough to knock a normal man down in one blow. Compared to someone like him, Derek was at a disadvantage.
I tried to put an end to his fight, but my words went unheeded. So, I squatted down to pick up several snowballs and threw them at Lean.

Lean probably didn’t expect me to do that, so when he tried to shield himself from the snowball, Derek took the opportunity to counterattack. This time, Lean was forced to take a few steps back.
Thinking about what he did to Tina and Lily infuriated me. And that thought sent me spiraling out of control. I kept picking up snowballs and throwing them at Lean just to vent all my pent-up rage.
“Lean, be a man! You have to take responsibility for what you’ve done. It’s like you’re not a man.”
To my surprise, my involvement in the fight caused them to stop.
Derek had never seen me behave like that, and I could tell by his reaction that he was surprised. After being hit by my snowballs, Lean was practically covered in snow, and he started laughing.
When he opened his mouth, I noticed that his teeth were stained with blood and looked especially bloody.
He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth with his thumb. Then, he flashed me a sinister smile. “Eveline, thank you for this lesson. It seems you are now prepared to pay the price for cheating on my brother,” he said.
I was perplexed by what I heard him say. “What nonsense are you talking?” he seemed to be even more amused by my reaction.
“I’m not talking nonsense. Alvaro told me you seduced him that night. He told me how good you were in bed, considering you’ve been married twice. Didn’t the bed collapse because you were having passionate sex?” I was furious.
How dare this brat slander me like that?
Panicked, I looked over at Derek. When he heard Lean’s statement, his face changed dramatically. I became agitated and angry. I grabbed another handful of snow, formed it into a ball and threw it at Lean.
