Chapter 332:.

Finally, the waiter brought me my orange juice. However, I didn’t drink it. I just stared at Becky and asked her, “What do you want to talk about?”.

Her pink lips parted into a smile, revealing her perfectly white teeth. After putting down the spoon, she picked up her face and took a sip of coffee. Once she set the face down, she added two sugar cubes to the coffee and began stirring it again with the spoon.

“About Derek,” Becky said.

To tell you the truth, when I got her message, I already had a feeling that was what she wanted to talk about.

He had changed his appearance to look much more like Sybil. From the looks of it, her goal was clear. I couldn’t see her eyes through the sunglasses, but I could sense her arrogance from her tone and that stupid grin on her face.

With indifference, I asked her, “Do you want to talk about my husband? I realize he’s done a lot to help you, but you don’t have to thank him. He just likes to help people, that’s all.”

“Oh, so he’s some kind of philanthropist, huh?” Becky laughed, reaching for a tissue to wipe the corners of her lips. “Eveline, snap out of it, will you?”

Whenever we were in front of Derek, Becky was always polite to me. But now that we were alone, she showed her true colors. In fact, every time she had that fake smile on her face, I got goose bumps. Honestly, I felt more at ease when she showed her true face.

“I ask you something, Eveline, who do you think Derek loves more, you or my sister?” The question was so devastating that it pierced my heart. And unfortunately, I didn’t know the answer to that question. However, I wasn’t about to admit it in front of Becky, so I forced a smile.

“Derek once loved your sister, but that’s in the past now. He loved your sister, not you. Do you think he’ll love you just because you look like Sybil?” I asked, not wanting to back down.

Becky laughed at my answer as she fiddled with her beautiful nails.

“You don’t get it, do you? Derek is sentimental and won’t easily forget my sister. She may not be my sister, but at least I look like her. You have no idea how devastated he was after my sister’s death, AND you have no idea how badly I wanted to see her alive again!” my heart was bleeding, but I kept my smug look.

“Maybe. But your sister is already dead. I must admit that your love for Sybil won’t die so easily, which means you’re a good man. However, Derek is wise, calm and level-headed. He will not deceive himself, nor will he deceive himself by using you as a substitute for your sister” -I argued. Finally, the stupid grin on Becky’s face disappeared.

She slammed her hand on the table, clearly annoyed. The noise attracted the attention of the other customers around us. I folded my arms and looked her calmly in the eye. I couldn’t understand how a woman who had tried to sabotage my marriage was acting more righteously than I was.

Perhaps realizing her blunder, Becky pushed up her sunglasses and said, “Are you really going to fight me to the end? You better quit, Eveline. Otherwise, things are going to get really ugly when I finally give up on you and throw you out like you’re trash.”

Becky seemed so sure she was going to win. I couldn’t understand why she was so sure of her triumph.

Was it because of Derek’s love for her sister? Maybe she thought Derek would fall in love with her because of her face. I didn’t know where to place my shaking hands. I just clutched my purse in an attempt to calm myself.

“My relationship with Derek is none of your business,” I commented.

Becky’s smile widened; she seemed amused by my response. “I hear you can’t get pregnant anymore? Do you think Derek or his family would be willing to accept that?”

I had no idea where she had heard from, but this time she had hit the nail on the head. His words felt like a heavy stone slammed against my heart. And for a moment, I couldn’t breathe.

Noticing my sadness, Becky gave me a pleased look before placing her purse on the table. Then she pulled out a few bills and placed them on the table.

“This one’s on me,” she said. After straightening her clothes, she got up, picked up her purse, pushed up her sunglasses and left, feeling proud of herself.

Meanwhile, I sat there, lost in thought.
