Back to Love: A New Beginning -
Chapter 333
Chapter 333:.
“Eveline, it’s really you!” Suddenly I heard a familiar voice, and then a woman appeared in the seat in front of me.
When I looked up, I saw Megan Brown, a former classmate of mine in high school. She now worked as a receptionist at Lavinia’s beauty salon. We weren’t that close when we were students. But now we got along quite well, as we ran into each other more often. Megan winked at me knowingly.
“By the way, Eveline, who was that woman sitting at the same table as you earlier? She looks familiar.” I didn’t answer her question.
Suddenly, she pointed toward the window, visibly excited. “There! Who’s that woman? She’s very sexy. Even though she’s wearing sunglasses, I can tell she’s gorgeous. I think she looks like a celebrity, but I can’t remember her name.”
“It’s Becky Nash,” I said.
Megan’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Is it really Becky?”
I wondered if Megan knew Becky.
“The Becky who was on ‘Singing Youth’?” added Megan.
She got excited when I nodded in response to her question “Oh my gosh, it really is her! I loved her when she participated in the competition. She’s so beautiful and has the voice of an angel. But, unfortunately, Mrs. Mayer chose another candidate instead. She may have been eliminated, but someone as amazing as her wouldn’t stay on the sidelines for long. I think she is doing very well now. I saw her on TV some time ago. She looks even more beautiful now, but somehow different. She used to give a pure and unadulterated look, but now, she looks mature and her features have become more defined. Rumor has it that she has undergone plastic surgery, but I don’t buy it. She is beyond beautiful, so she has no reason to take the risk of undergoing plastic surgery.” Megan was quite the chatterbox.
She went on and on, and at this point, she had no idea what to say.
“I heard that your new TV series is going to be aired and that you will be attending the promotional campaign in Sousen soon. I want to take a leave during that day. Honestly, I don’t know if I will have a chance to meet her. But if I do, I hope I can take a picture with her and get her autograph! Do you want to come with me?”. Megan looked expectant and excited.
So far she hadn’t responded. Only then did she realize that she hadn’t spoken for a long time.
“By the way, she was having coffee with you earlier, wasn’t she? Do you know each other? Are you friends, maybe?” Megan grabbed my hand.
This time she seemed even more excited. “Eveline, do you mind asking her if she can give me an autograph?” I was speechless.
Megan was well into her twenties, yet she was acting like a crazy teenager swooning over a celebrity.

“I’m not her friend,” I said.
“Then why were you having coffee together?” asked Megan.
I didn’t respond to that. There were probably a lot of people who adored Becky like Megan. In the future, she would end up gathering a larger fan base. But all they could see was her beautiful looks and the pretentious friendliness she conveyed on camera. None of them knew that she actually lusted after another woman’s husband, and that she didn’t deserve people’s adoration. When I returned to the beauty salon, I was not in a good mood.
Suddenly, I started to miss Derek. So I decided to stop by Dere International to meet him. I would meet him at home later, but I couldn’t wait another second. Soon, I decided to take the bus. At first, the bus was empty. As I made my way downtown, there were more and more people on the bus.
When I was halfway to Dere International, a man entered the bus along with a pregnant woman, and then they stood next to me. Seeing them, I stood up and let the pregnant woman sit down.
She thanked me before meekly sitting down. I responded with a smile. As I stood next to her, my eyes fell on her bulging belly.
“You can lean on me for rest.” The man held the woman’s head and let her lean on him.
The pregnant woman closed her eyes, put one hand on her belly and took the man’s hand with the other. She looked very happy. Men naturally cared for women carrying their children. It was in their nature. It made me wonder if a man could truly love an infertile woman.
Would his love remain unwavering for the rest of his life?
If I ever saw other fathers with their children, I would surely be a little envious. And when they grew old together, would this man resent living a lonely life with no children to keep him company?
As that thought crossed my brain, my mind went blank. I couldn’t get pregnant, but I still wanted to stay by Derek’s side. This selfish desire made me feel like a sinner.
