Back to Love: A New Beginning -
Chapter 347
Chapter 347:.
A strange feeling rose in my gut as I turned the knob and pushed the door open. The room was slightly dark due to the closed curtains and the dim light. The atmosphere also gave me an eerie feeling.
“Hello, are you there?” no one answered me.
I swallowed saliva and entered the room slowly. I stopped dead in my tracks after a few steps.
Alvaro was leaning against the bathroom door and looking at me with a sinister smile. His presence wasn’t what scared me. After all, I expected him to be here.
What scared me was that he had only a short bath towel wrapped around his waist, barely covering his buttocks. It wasn’t the first time I had seen a man’s naked body.
He wasn’t even completely naked. It didn’t seem necessary to scare me. If I made a big deal out of this, I would feel even more embarrassed.
To avoid further discomfort, I turned to leave with the calmest expression I could muster.
But Alvaro suddenly came over, closed the door and pressed me against it. “What are you doing?”
My false calm turned to obvious discomfort. Her body was still wet and moist. The soothing scent of her shower gel filled the air and wafted into my nose.
“What brought you here? If you want to see my body, just say so. After all, I’m more than willing to show it to you. You don’t have to sneak a peek.” Alvaro sneered at me with a smile. His face was just inches from mine.
The closeness and flirtatious words made my face blush.
“You, why are you so narcissistic, who wants to see your body? I only came up here because you were taking so long. In fact, I thought you had dropped dead, why didn’t you answer when I called you?”
“Were you worried about me?” he smiled at my response.
I snorted and rolled my eyes. “Don’t flatter yourself, why would I be worried about you? I’m worried about myself. Your sudden death would get me in trouble. Since I was the last person to see you, the police would label me as the prime suspect.”
“Oh, yeah?” Alvaro raised his eyebrows.
Feigning reassurance, I gave him an affirmative look and said, “Of course! Besides, why did you take a shower when you were only supposed to change your clothes? Is something wrong with you?”
Alvaro turned away from me and replied with a slight smile, “It’s nothing. It’s just that I’m used to showering before changing clothes.”
The small distance that separated us gave me a chance to get a good look at his body. He looked masculine and sexy.
I didn’t want to be alone with him like this. Now that I had let my guard down, I quickly turned around to leave. But something caught my eye the moment I turned my head.
It was a black and white photo hanging on the wall. The person in the photo looked a little familiar. The dim light made it difficult to see. So I stopped to take a closer look.
However, a strange sight made me open my mouth. Alvaro had taken off his towel. He froze when he saw that I had turned around. Perhaps he hadn’t expected me to show my face again.
In a panic, I yanked open the door and ran out. Alvaro’s mocking laughter rang through the room as I passed.
I ran down the stairs and out of the villa without turning back. In the courtyard, I tried to compose myself by taking deep breaths.
It did little good. The cold air outside was the only thing that helped to mitigate the heat inside me. Alvaro came out of the villa fully dressed a few moments later.
He looked very cool. He wore his hair combed back and only a few strands fell over his forehead. With a bright smile, he gave me a glance and headed for the car with the key in his hand. I followed him silently.
When the car beeped, I opened the back door and prepared to get in, but he slammed it shut. Alvaro opened the passenger seat and slid me in.
As I stared at him, he buckled my seat belt and closed the door. He then walked around the car and sat in the driver’s seat. After giving me a smile, he started the car.
After smiling, he started the car. On the way home, I suddenly remembered something.
Derek had been furious the last time Alvaro drove me home.
What would he do if he saw us together again? I wanted very much to stop Alvaro from dropping me off at home.
However, if he did, he would go back to blackmailing me.
When I couldn’t take it anymore, Louise’s call came.
What good timing!
I answered the phone without hesitation, as if she were my savior.
“Hello, Lulu. Yes. Where are you now? Ok, I’ll wait for you there. See you soon.” I hung up the phone and turned to look at Alvaro calmly. “My friend just asked me to go shopping with her. Please drop me off at the next intersection.”
