Chapter 515:.

I was surprised at first, but soon realized it made sense. For some reason, it had always seemed to me that Alvaro was an old flame of Ady’s. Turns out they used to be married.

I remembered how deep Ady’s gaze was whenever she looked at Alvaro, and that night she told him at the bar, “If you want to do it, I don’t care.” She didn’t tell him that she still loved him, nor did she do anything radical, but I could tell that her feelings for Alvaro were seared into her bones.

“She still loves you. Don’t disappoint a woman who loves you with all her heart,” I commented, leaning against the window.

Suddenly, Alvaro leaned over and forced me to look at him holding me by the shoulders. He was staring at me.

“What about a man who loves you wholeheartedly? Are you even willing to give him a chance?”.

I couldn’t answer the question nor did I have the courage to look him in the eye. I had experienced firsthand what it feels like to be hurt, and I didn’t want anyone else to feel the same way.

Alvaro seemed to have guessed my answer, so he just smiled bitterly and let me go. He leaned back in his seat, opened the window and lit a cigarette.

“If I don’t love the person, whatever they do for me, I can’t force myself to reciprocate. How am I going to live up to their expectations?” I replied, looking away.

Maybe in many ways he was right. Derek didn’t love me, did he? That’s why I could keep my cool even when he said those words to me.

“If you have nowhere to go at the moment, you can stay at my place.” Having said that, Alvaro added, “Don’t worry, I won’t do anything to you. I may have feelings for you, but I’m not going to rape you or anything like that.” I shook my head.

“Thanks, but right now I just want to go to my company. Only the existence of Jolly Mayer Company can make me feel like I’m not a loser.” Just before I could open the door and leave, Alvaro stopped me.

“Wait.”

He then drove to the nearby mall and asked me to wait in the car for a while. After parking the car, he went into the mall. Minutes later, he returned with a box in his hand.

He opened the passenger seat door and pulled out of a box a pair of flat shoes that he appeared to have purchased. They were quite exquisite. One look and I realized they must have cost a fortune.

Alvaro squatted down, lifted my feet and set about putting them on. It was then that I realized I wasn’t even wearing shoes.

“I can do it myself.”

I wanted to pull my foot away, but he held it tightly and continued to put them on me. Although he never asked me what my size was, he managed to buy me a pair of shoes just right for me. As he looked at the shoes on my feet, he smiled in satisfaction.

“Your feet are beautiful, so any shoe would fit them. Try not to wear heels too often. It’s not good for your feet,” he told me.

This pair of shoes was made with high quality materials, and was really comfortable to wear. I thanked him and expressed this sincerely. Soon after, he drove me back to my company.

When I got out of the car and said goodbye to him, he told me that he would leave after finishing his cigarette.

Once in my office, I looked out the window and saw that his car was still parked under the lamppost. About ten minutes later, he finally left.

It was already late and raining. Worried about Dexter and Edith, I decided to call Jenna. She told me that the kids had gone to bed early and not to worry. Actually, I also wanted to ask her if Derek had gone home. But in the end, the words wouldn’t come out of my throat.

Even if he got drunk, I was sure Timmy would take care of him, so he would be fine. Even though Derek had hurt me so badly, I still worried about him.

I spent the whole night lying in my office lounge, but I couldn’t get to sleep. This whole situation was so out of place. I couldn’t understand how things had ended up like this.

Later, I started to feel sleepy and had some disordered dreams. I could not remember my dreams vividly. There were a lot of people and things in my dreams, and they were very chaotic. The next morning, I woke up very early.

I washed myself, sat in front of the mirror and looked at my reflection. People’s faces often gave away their emotions. When people were sad, they looked haggard. I was no exception. So I pulled out my makeup case and applied my makeup. Derek said he would divorce me today, and he said it firmly.

I shouldn’t be so brazen as to keep pestering him. If we were really going to divorce, I wanted to look my best. I didn’t want to show up there looking haggard. And I’d rather not look like a neglected woman, even if it was the truth.

When I was almost done with my makeup, my phone rang. The caller ID “Honey” appeared on my screen, and it only made my heart ache again.

As soon as I took the call, she asked me, “Where are you?”.

I told him I was at Jolly Mayer Company. He told me he would pick me up and we would go to the firm together. It was still too early, he couldn’t wait to divorce me.
