Back to Love: A New Beginning -
Chapter 56
Chapter 56:.
Derek looked at me from head to toe, making me uncomfortable.
“Why haven’t you gone to sleep yet?” I tried to stay as quiet as possible. “I’m sweating all over and it’s making me uneasy.”
I squeezed in next to him, inevitably brushing against his body. I pointed to the bathroom and said, “Then go take a shower.”
He showed me his bandaged hand and pointed to his head. “You want me to shower in this state?”
“So, what do we do?”
For some reason, I felt a little sorry for him. I wondered if he wanted me to bathe him.
“Help me clean my body,” he said bluntly. It seemed to me that he was asking too much. Although we were a legally married couple, we still weren’t that close. Part of me told me he must have noticed my reluctance.
Suddenly, she pinched my cheek and said, “I’d rather not complicate things for you, so I’m going to bathe alone.”
Thinking that his wound might get infected by the water, I got a headache and then decided to do it for him.
“Forget it. I’ll help you wipe the sweat off.”
Slowly, Derek turned away. For a moment, I saw a triumphant smile on his face. It was as if his plan had succeeded.
I went to the bathroom to get some hot water. And as the water ran, I felt very conflicted.
I was sweating all over my body, and there were still traces of blood in some places. If I didn’t clean it off properly, I might get sick. The problem was that there was no other person in the house who could help him clean himself. Since I was his wife, I had to do it without hesitation.
It took me a while, but I finally convinced myself to grab a towel and the basin of hot water, and get out of the bathroom.
The moment I saw him standing by the bed, I almost threw the basin of water in my hand.
He had taken off his pants, leaving only a pair of boxer shorts. As he stood by the bed, the look on his face made me realize that I could do anything I wanted to him. It was so damn tempting.
I put down the basin, soaked the towel and wrung it out. I took a deep breath, as if I were heading to a battlefield.

I started wiping her face, down to her chest, then her back. I tried to pretend I wasn’t interested in his muscular body and told myself I was just taking care of a patient.
“Now, it’s time to clean my lower body.” Derek’s voice echoed in my ears and I felt like I was about to explode.
I held the towel, unconsciously looking down. I could feel how much my face was swelling.
When I had no idea what to do, he suddenly grabbed my hand and guided it down to his underwear, slowly pulling down his boxers.
The palm of his hand was warm and the feel of his breath next to my ear was even stronger. I felt as if my heart was about to jump out of my chest. I had no idea why I couldn’t resist him.
Suddenly, Derek’s phone rang, breaking the intimate moment.
We looked at each other at the same time and I saw fire in his eyes.
When he picked up the phone and said “Grandpa,” the intimacy and heated tension between us disappeared. Since the old man called in the middle of the night, I deduced that it must be because there was bad news.
“Sure, I’ll be right there.” This time, Derek looked serious. All the desire that was in his eyes before was gone.
“Hey, what’s wrong, did something happen to your grandfather?” I stared at him, worried about his mood.
Derek nodded. “Grandpa said he accidentally slipped and couldn’t get up today. Fortunately, his neighbor helped him up into bed, but now he can’t move.”
As a nurse, she had knowledge of some common illnesses.
“You shouldn’t underestimate something as simple as a fall when it comes to older people. In a worst-case scenario, they could have a stroke. But considering your grandfather could still call you, that means he’s okay,” I said.
Derek frowned and said, “Let’s get some clothes. We’re going to the field.”
“You’re taking me with you?”
He shot me a look and added, “Grandpa said he wanted to meet his granddaughter-in-law.”
I didn’t hesitate. I quickly gathered some clothes and got into the car with him.
We should have visited his grandfather earlier, instead of going to see the old man after he had an accident and called his grandson about it.
