Chapter 240 The Mystery

Over the years, Berkan couldn’t shake the memory of a certain someone. She wasn’t just his first love, fut speculation deeply rooted as hes heart.

She wasn’t merely a part of his life, she was an undeniable light.

During the year when he was blind, she became his source of hope.

In his hand, she gently wrote with the tip of a pen, giving him the courage and strength to stand up again.

He always thought she was his soulmate because they shared so much in common.

Both of them had a special love for British mystery novelist Agatha Christie.

Every time she lightly wrote the title of her favorite book “East” in his palm,

Benson’s heart filled with an indescribable joy.

His favorite was also “Murder on the Orient Express” from the Poirot series.

Their shared interests brought them closer and made their relationship particularly harmonious.

Their conversations were always deep and wide–ranging, which made their relationship even closer. She once told Benson enthusiastically about her love for Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. She spoke about the similarities between the Great Depression and the Civil Rights Movement, her voice filled with passion and deep thought.

“Although these two periods have vastly different backgrounds, the patterns of human nature and societal reactions are strikingly similar,” she said, leaving Benson deeply moved. Her ability to cross cultural and temporal boundaries to make comparisons showed the breadth and depth of her thinking. in their conversations, she confidently mentioned the works of Edgar Wallace and Ian Rankin.

Her insight and understanding of detective novels deeply impressed Benson.

Although he couldn’t see her appearance, her rich inner world and vast knowledge attracted him like a strong light.

Despite not being able to see her, these details made him feel her inner world was extraordinarily rich.

Every word she spoke and every gentle touch left a deep imprint on his heart.

Benson’s actions were starkly different from the ideal image he held in his heart.

A series of photos showed him frequently entering and leaving a luxurious hotel with a beautiful woman. These photos were quickly captured by the media and widely reported, drawing significant attention.

Soon, the press began speculating about the true identity of this mysterious woman, with reports claiming she was the legendary Mrs. Benson.

As soon as this news broke, it caused a huge stir on the internet.

Social media and major news forums were flooded with comments and discussions, with doubts rising: If she really is Mrs. Benson, why would she go to a hotel room during the day?”

The public’s curiosity and controversy gradually intensified, with various speculations and comments heating up, quickly turning this into a hot topic.

In the midst of this media frenzy, the Taylor family couldn’t stay out of it.

The news eventually caught the attention of the Benson family, especially his mother, Victoria.

When she saw the news reports, she was furious. Her face turned ashen, and a flicker of almost explosive anger flashed in her eyes.

Victoria had always valued the family’s reputation highly, and she found it hard to accept that such a scandal could tarnish the family’s honor.

Without hesitation, she summoned Benson.

She stood in the spacious living room, with sunlight slanting through the curtains, casting her angry

silhouette.

Holding her phone, her face pale, she spoke with a tone of suppressed anger, “Benson, what on earth are you doing? Yvonne is already your wife, how can you treat her like this? This is a great insult to her, and you’re destroying your future!”

Benson lazily sprawled on the sofa, flipping through a newspaper, his eyes filled with a mix of annoyance and helplessness.

“Olivia was my first love, and Yvonne has always been trying to bring us together. Can’t you see that?”

Victoria’s face darkened even more. “Are you out of your mind? You know her situation, yet you still act this way. This is practically suicide!”

“Suicide? Look at what she did!” Benson’s voice grew louder. His fingers clenched into a fist, a pained expression crossing his face. “She’s been playing me for a fool.”

“You’re so ungrateful!” Victoria gritted her teeth in anger, her face turning purple, almost ready to explode.

“Olivia just came back and immediately distanced herself, wanting a divorce. What did I do to her to make her so heartless?

Meanwhile, the news about Benson and the mysterious woman sparked heated discussions online.

Although the post was eventually removed, the information had already spread, and many people were

curious about it.

Various voices emerged on the internet, with some saying that this woman was the only one Benson had ever publicly acknowledged after Mary.

Despite the post being deleted, the topic remained hot, attracting a lot of attention.

Far away in Mesquite, Bella was shocked when she heard the news. She immediately called Benson and harshly scolded him.

Her voice on the phone was angry and sharp, almost as if she was releasing all her anger.

Even Andrew called to ask about the true identity of the mysterious woman.

Despite this, Benson’s wife, Yvonne, seemed indifferent to these matters, behaving like an outsider.

Olivia sat on the sofa, her face showing confusion and anxiety as she waited for Yvonne’s return.

She couldn’t understand how things had escalated to this point, as there was no real relationship between her and Benson.

Yet now, she found herself in such a predicament. Her heart was filled with confusion and unease.

Yvonne returned home and saw the anxiety on Olivia’s face, trying to comfort her. “I know, don’t worry too much about it. There will be a solution.”

Her voice was gentle yet firm, like a soothing balm that eased Olivia’s worries.

Olivia took a deep breath and nodded.

“He said I don’t have to see the doctor anymore starting tomorrow,Olivia said.

Yvonne’s smile was warm, but to Olivia, it carried a hint of inscrutable complexity. She knew Yvonne must have her plans, but she had no idea what they were.

Meanwhile, Benson sat in a corner of the club, holding an untouched glass of whiskey, his brows furrowed.

His face was full of worry and confusion.

The lighting in the club was exceptionally soft and dim, paired with the low and oppressive music from the corners, adding a sense of mystery and heaviness to the atmosphere.

The smell of alcohol filled the air, making the atmosphere even more stifling.

Benson’s thoughts grew more chaotic under the influence of alcohol, and he felt himself sinking into boundless confusion and trouble.

His blurred and weak gaze focused on the dance floor not far away, where the laughter and singing of the crowd seemed to come from another world.

His heart was rippling with waves of helplessness and frustration, suffocating him.

Even though he knew that this self–destructive behavior wouldn’t help solve the problem, he still couldn’t push away the glass in front of him.

At that moment, Matthew approached, his face showing dissatisfaction and reproach. He stood beside Benson, his brows tightly knitted.

“Bro, you were so determined to choose my sister–in–law, and now you’re frequently seen in hotels. What on earth are you doing?”
