Benson 94
Chapter 94 Betrayal and Redemption
Yvonne felt his breath on her ear, a familiar yet strange sensation making her heart tremble. Benson slightly lowered his head, his lips near her ear, whispering with a tone of threat and provocation, “Yvonne, without any leverage, how will you get a divorce?”
Marcus watched this scene, his eyes red with anger. He grabbed Benson’s collar and shouted, “Why? Why are you humiliating her like this?”
Benson’s expression didn’t change, his gaze still cold and sharp, “Marcus, when you want to blame me, remember your place.”
Yvonne’s heart turned cold upon hearing this, as disappointment and despair washed over her again. Benson was utterly untrustworthy. His words held no sincerity, only coldness and calculation. How could she naively think he would help her unconditionally?
“Marcus, go home first. Don’t worry your father,” Yvonne said, her voice calm but her eyes resolute.
Marcus looked at Yvonne, his eyes full of pain and guilt, “I’m sorry.”
Yvonne forced a smile, “Go back, I understand.” She knew Marcus was trying hard to like and protect her, but it wasn’t his fault; it was a problem between her and Benson that they couldn’t resolve.
At that moment, Marcus hated himself deeply for wasting time in the past and for not being able to protect the woman he liked now. His heart was filled with self–blame and pain.
Yvonne looked up at Benson, her eyes cold and resolute, “Let me go.”
Surprisingly, Benson complied and released her. Yvonne took her bag but handed the car keys to Marcus, Drive back slowly, I’ll have Megan pick up the car.”
Marcus took the keys, his voice low and apologetic, “Yvonne, I’m sorry. I can never help you.”
Yvonne shook her head, her voice gentle and resigned, “It’s not your fault. It’s a problem between me and him that we haven’t resolved.” She knew it was her longing for Benson’s warmth that repeatedly put Marcus in such situations.
Yvonne got into Benson’s car, and in the back seat, she turned to look at Benson, her eyes filled with complex emotions. “Mr. Benson, you handled Marcus’s issue so well last night that I thought you had a conscience.”
“But you were just acting, trying to deceive me into handing over evidence against your little lover. Was this revenge for my previous scheming against you?”
Benson’s face changed slightly, his voice tense and helpless, “No!”
Yvonne looked at Benson coldly, her gaze icy, her voice firm and unrelenting, “You never intended to divorce. All that talk about two days… it was all part of your scheme. The Taylor family is full of good people, but why are you so disgusting?”
Benson stiffened, as if struck by her words. His gaze fell on her face, seeing the tears shimmering in her eyes. Those tears, bright under the light, carried endless pain and resolve.
She stubbornly refused to let the tears fall, as if declaring her strength and defiance. Benson felt a tightness in his heart, as if something was slowly collapsing. He reached out and gently pulled her into his arms, his voice low and pained, “Yvonne, I’m really sorry!”
This apology was filled with endless regret and helplessness, as if trying to make up for all his wrongs. However, Yvonne’s tears finally fell, streaming down her cheeks and dripping onto his shoulder.
Her emotions erupted, and she suddenly slapped him, her voice full of anger and pain, “Benson, apologizing while stabbing me in the back is the height of shamelessness!*
