Saoirse's

POV

"Paxton, given a chance to bear an alternate punishment, are you willing to do it? More specifically, can you let go of your obsession with Cara?" I asked. I am not going to candy-coat it. Anton assured me Paxton was not going to come after her again. I will also have to get him to check on Rex's thoughts on the matter. I wouldn't have given Paxton the option to allow him to live if he hadn't had a serious change of heart.

"Yes! Yes, of course, I am willing to accept another punishment. I know I deserve to be punished for what I did. But is there no chance at all of Cara accepting me? Can't she allow me to show her how much I truly love and care for her?" Paxton asked."Paxton, I think it would be best for you and Rex to move on with your lives. It would help if you went to other packs and met new she-wolves. You both need to replace your mates. I promise you that nothing is better than having your mate by your side. I wouldn't give Alexei up for anything," Cara told him as she squeezed my hands wrapped around her waist. She looked sad for him. Anyone with eyes could see that her words hurt him. I didn't feel bad for him. Every word she had spoken was the truth.

"I know that you won't believe me, but I am sorry for what I did, Cara. If I hadn't started sleeping around, maybe your father would have been more receptive to me wanting to take you as my mate. I was given everything I wanted my whole life. I thought that I could extend it to

getting the woman that I wanted, too."If you're reading this on any site other than Job, this content has been stolen! Real fans know the latest updates and exclusive insights are always on Job. Support original creators and visit the source." Alexei, I am sorry to

you as well. I could tell how anxious you were earlier. I can assure you that I won't approach Cara as my mate ever again. I swear to the Goddess I won't," Paxton said but was rudely cut off.

"So what, Paxton? No one cares. You messed up, and you need to pay for it. It's as simple as that," Lisa called over to him.

"So you agree that people must be punished when they have committed a crime. Right, Lisa?" Anton asked.

"I agree, Saoirse, should deal with him quickly," Lisa responded.

"Oh, I couldn't agree more, Lisa. Now, tell me, how many times would you say that you injured my daughter by assaulting her? I am not just counting the numerous broken bones you gave her. I'm including everything in my question. I saw where it got way worse when you and Cara turned sixteen. I don't want you to hurt yourself trying to remember everything you have done to my daughter. I want the highlight reel, like the times you worked her all day with no food or water on several occasions. Or when you've made her pass out from heat exhaustion. I want you to know that I am completely aware of everything that you did to my daughter. It isn't just the broken bones in her arms and legs or the numerous ribs you broke, shoving her into something. Oh yes, how many fingers would you say you've broken of hers over the years? Forty? Fifty? I just want to get a rough estimate," I told her.

Lisa stared up at me from the ground. Her face was a mixture of shock and confusion. She was not answering me. She looked over at her mother, still suspended in the air, caught mid-leap. She then looked over at her father, silently pleading with him to help her. I stepped into her line of vision. Lisa needed to know right now that she wouldn't get away with it, not this time.

I trusted what Anton had told me. Only Rex and Paxton felt remorse for their actions. Lisa and Clay didn't feel wrong about anything that they had done. Anton told us that Lisa was planning to kill Cara for shaming her in front of the pack just now. Clay was only feeling bad because he hadn't locked the doors to his house to keep Brenna from stopping him from sexually assaulting Cara. Clay might be the quietest of the three of them, but he was also the most vile among them, too. His thoughts were disgusting and depraved. I wanted to snap his neck, but I had a better plan for him and Lisa.

"Oh no, Lisa. I am afraid that no one will be getting you out of this. I know why you did it. It was because you could. Cara was a hybrid with no power, and jealousy was eating you up inside. No one except her sisters seemed willing to stand up for Cara these last five years. You spread rumors about her and encouraged others to bully her, too. There was no punishment coming for any of you for hurting my daughter. Just like your mother wanting to jump in and help you out. I feel the same about my daughter," I proclaimed.

"I didn't tell her to do that," Lisa protested.

I ignored her and turned to Anton for the answer. "Yes, she did." He quietly told me.

"Seriously, Lisa? Are you so quick to forget that you don't have to tell us the truth? Anton already knows what you did. It appears that you are a liar until the end," I said as I shook my head. I need to deal with Lisa and her mother today. Her mother is as bad or even worse than her daughter. She was trying to live vicariously through Lisa. She wanted to have the respect of being the Luna's mother. She was the Gamma female in the pack, wasn't that enough for her?

I unfroze her mother, and she immediately phased back into her human self. I flicked my hand and got her a dress. Wolves may be fine with nudity, but I didn't want her lady bits to be out and staring at me while I tried to speak to her; it was distracting. "Now, Emily, was it? Did you honestly think either of us would allow you to attack Cara? You are the Gamma female, how is you daughter so weak. Rex is properly trained. So, what happened with that, you didn't make your precious baby train? Or you didn't want to make her do it, because she was to be the Luna? Always had your eyes on the prize, right Emily? I bet it was because you spoiled her her whole life. I know you did while I was still here in the pack. If memory serves, you bullied me too. Telling people I was a threat and getting them all against me. Why was that? Oh, yes, I bet I know why. You always wanted James, and he never gave you the time of day. That must have really hurt your feelings. No wonder you pushed so hard to make sure that Lisa didn't experience the same failure you did," I mocked her as I approached her. "You never belonged here, seductress. James was interested in me before he saw you and started pursuing you. You are a disgusting witch. I knew you put a love spell on him to want you instead of me. You had no reason to be here and deserved everything that happened to you. Did you really think that you belonged here? You didn't, you never will. I wanted him, and he should have been mine, yet he accepted you. He marked you despite you not being a she-wolf. I wished you would have died when he rejected you and took his true mate. It would have been best if you had never come back here, you tramp. Stop trying to force my daughter to accept Paxton's rejection. She earned her position, she deserves it," Emily screamed out.

Her words made me smile. James had told me that one of the she-wolves in the pack had wanted him and had been pursuing him for years. He told me he didn't want her, but she refused to leave him alone. He would never tell me who it was, though. I should have known that it was the ringleader of my bullies. I had sworn an oath to Alpha Hugo that I wouldn't use my magic inside the pack. I swore I would follow it as long as I was the Beta female. Once my title was stripped, that promise was null and void. I only left them alone because Cara lived there. I didn't want her to end up being hurt by my actions.

"Oh, believe me, I heard about how she earned her position. That apple didn't fall too fall from the tree, did it, Emily?" I asked her. I couldn't resist insinuating just what I meant. From what James had told me, Emily had gotten around the pack quite a bit.

Her flush of embarrassment was telling to all those present. I saw her mate, Devin, shift and look over at her. I could tell he was uncomfortable with the direction the conversation was now going. I guess he didn't know how his mate acted before he accepted her. I thought everyone knew, but clearly, he had his head buried in the sand.

"Regardless of how she got it, she is the Luna here. You need to respect her," Emily firmly stated and I scoffed at her telling me I needed to respect Lisa. That wasn't going to happen.

"Thank you for reminding me, Emily. We need to get that dealt with before we move on here today. Lisa, are you ready to accept Paxton's rejection? You just conceded to doing it. Let's get that over with, shall we?" I motioned for Lisa to go ahead with her acceptance. "I am never going to give up my position voluntarily. Are you mad? There is nothing that would possess me to do so. Paxton is stuck with me until the moment he dies. It won't matter after that," Lisa said and then smirked at Paxton. Now that her mother has been allowed to be included in the conversation. Lisa is back to being the bold, argumentative person she had been before."Is that how you want to play itLisa?" I asked with a smile. I had hoped she would refuse because I wanted to deal with her myself. Cara is not completely healed, but she did an excellent job of getting her revenge on Lisa. Lisa had a broken nose and leg. That was enough for my sweet daughter. But, unfortunately for Lisa, it wasn't enough for me. I will be dealing with Lisa now, and it's what she deserves. Cara went easy on her, her innate kindness overshadowing everything else, including how horrible Lisa had been to her. It's time for momma bear to finish this, and finish it I will.
