Cara's POV Sunday afternoon

Brenna is still training me in the mornings. The doctor approved for her to do that. He said that she could do anything she did before the pregnancy, just no real sparing anymore. Sasha is now joining us for my morning training. She is just as strong as Brenna and likes to give me a workout. Brenna loves me, so she pulls her blows. Sasha doesn't. Sasha has a reason for it, and it is a valid one. "The person attacking you is not going to pull a punch. You need to learn to take a hit and still be able to hit back."

That was how she was taught, and her mother, Raven, is still a strong fighter to this day. Sasha has a twin sister, Emerson. The are not identical, Sasha is more like her mother, a tomboy with the same black hair as her mother, but bright blue eyes like her father Justin. Emerson has brown hair, like her father Brandon, and Raven's green eyes. They are both stunning women, as they share Raven's features. I had just met Raven's sister, Reagan, last night at dinner to celebrate Brenna's pregnancy.

I had not known that Raven was a twin. There were very similar, they looked just alike, except for their hair and eye color. Reagan and her mate Clive had also come to celebrate. I was told that they split their time between Blood Tracker and Black Adder. Reagan's son, Trevor, was now the Alpha of Blood Tracker. Trevor was related to Alpha Kevin as well. Their fathers were cousins, and the two packs were close. They seemed to be a close-knit family. I liked to see them together.

They kidded and messed around, but under it all, there was a lot of respect. Luna and Kevin had come today, so we were glad to be able to visit together. Alpha Trevor had only been leading his pack for a year and a half. His father, Aaron, had found his second chance mate two and a half years ago and turned it all over to Trevor when he turned twenty-one. Trevor's younger brother, Henry, was a Co-Beta along with Damon. It was surprising that they were related, as Reagan was the mother of all three of them. I didn't ask, but they were in need of a surrogate at Blood Tracker for one reason or another. She had four children with the former Alpha, Aaron. She had three children with the former Beta, Darren, to help him and his mate Judy. She also had five children with her chosen mate, Clive.

I was happy to meet Jaxon's cousins and was impressed by how much stayed in the family at Blood Tracker. Trevor's youngest brother, Jon, was his Gamma. The Delta was Wayne, who was the son of the former Delta Mark. He had worked for Blake at Black Moon, and his sons were good trainers. I was impressed to see that Clive and Reagan's daughter, Tatiana, was a Co-Delta and helped train. Her father, Clive, had been the Gamma at Blood Tracker, so it made sense that she would be a fierce fighter. There were no ranked she-wolves at Kamaria. They still lived in the past and only allowed men to hold titles.

I enjoyed watching them compete against each other on the obstacle course. Alexei stayed with me until Jaxon and Chase challenged him to run the obstacle course with them, and Robert, Trevor, and Kevin. My mother, Brenna, Luna, Sasha, and Emerson sat with me. We could hear them talking crap as they headed down to the course to, in their words, "Show the younger ones how it was done."

I heard Alexei ask Jaxon, "So, we can use our strengths to get through the course?"

"You are so much faster than us; you will kill us on the running part," Chase said, shaking his head.

"Not just on the running part, Chase. He will smoke through the course with no issues. I changed my mind. You don't have to compete with us anymore, Alexei. I have seen what you can do. We are changing it to just werewolves now," Jaxon replied to Chase.

"Oh no, Jaxon. You and Chase wanted me here, so I am staying. Plus, how will my mate know how awesome I am if she doesn't witness it firsthand? How about this: The one who comes in second behind me wins between the rest of you," Alexei boldly stated before glancing up at me and winking.

I was already proud of Alexei. I didn't need him to compete in this race. But, instead of calling him back, I cheered for him and blew him a kiss. I had never seen Alexei do anything like this. I have seen plenty of the werewolves here use the course for training or exercise. I just have never seen Alexei in action. I could feel his confidence from here. He was not bragging. He was stating facts. He was slimmer than they were, but he was very strong. I was getting excited just thinking of seeing him in action.

The guys knew he was just messing with them, but things got serious at Alexei's claim. They knew he wasn't joking, and the shirts started coming off so they wouldn't;t get hung up on anything. No one wanted to lose, and they were deadly serious about this race. The shirts coming off resulted in cat-calling from their mates. I felt a little bad for Trevor as he didn't have a mate to cheer him on. A crowd had started forming to watch them run the obstacle course.

Several she-wolves took up to cheer for him, which caused him to smile. I had cheered when Alexei decided to slip his shirt off, too. But I didn't like how some of the she-wolves were checking him out. I wanted to go over and tell them to keep their eyes off my mate. I was glad that he was marked now, and I think that was part of why he took his shirt off. He wanted everyone to see my mark on him. I could see my mother's mark on Robert get darker with a flick of her wrist. It was now bolder, darker than it was before.

She leaned over to tell me how to do it. I never realized how jealous I was of their gazes now focused on Alexei. But now that we were both marked, I was not going to allow anyone else to touch my mate. The men lined up at the starting line, with Blane coming over to start the race. They were off, quickly running forward to hit the rock wall. Alexei had left them behind on the running part, but he leaped into the air to grab hold of two handholds about twenty feet up the wall. I knew what he meant about using their strengths during the course.

It was impressive to watch the muscles in his back as he swiftly climbed up the rest of the rock wall. He had already left them in the dust by not having to climb down the other side. He just leaped down and landed softly on the ground. The next obstacle was angled boards. Ones you pushed off of, going from one side to the other as you ran through it. Alexei was a blur of movement as he went through it. The other five men were neck and neck as they kept trash-talking each other as they pushed through the course. Alexei had to slow down for the army crawl under the ropes. That almost allowed the guys to catch up with him again. The next part was cones set up to run through, and Alexei had to slow down his speed in order to do it. You were always changing directions. He also had to go at a regular pace through the rings, as you had to swing back and then forth to get enough momentum up to get to the next ring. The next obstacle got him clearly ahead again, as it was a rope wall that you had to climb up, but he bypassed the climbing part by just jumping up to the top and then down to the other side.

He grinned over at me as he started heading back towards us. There was a set of monkey bars where upper body strength really helped you out. He swung from bar to bar effortlessly, like he could do this all day. He was now approaching the water hazard obstacles. He had to jump from stump to stump, but he blazed across it as if it were no challenge at all for him. The next one was a balance beam. This one had ropes over it in case you needed help balancing as you crossed over the thirty-foot beam. It was no joke, yet Alexei ran across it with no problem at all. There were two of them, so the first ones to get to it got to go over them first. The other racers had to wait behind you until you were clear of the beams to cross.

The last obstacle was really tough. There were several strong poles that had been built into a stand about thirty feet off the ground. The stand held a rope hanging from the center of it. There were a total of three stands, with a bell attached at the top of the rope, just under the stand. I was told that when they first got them, there were no knots in the ropes for people to hold onto. It made it hard to go through all of the other parts of the obstacle course and then climb straight up with your body weight being used against you. I knew I wouldn't be able to do it. This was a very physical course. No wonder this pack was so strong. They did this course for fun.

Alexei made a running leap that took him about halfway up the rope. I knew from how high he jumped up the rock wall he could have jumped even higher on the rope. He was allowing them to catch up with him now. He didn't want to mess with them anymore. He knew he would win, so he slowed down to avoid embarrassing anyone. Jaxon and Kevin started climbing the other two ropes when the bell rang. Alexei just dropped down and moved out of the way as Trevor climbed up the rope Alexei had just left.

Jaxon hit his bell about a second before Kevin hit his bell. They climbed back down, and Chase and Robert started their climb up the rope. Trevor's bell sounded a short time before Robert's. Chase came in last but only about ten seconds behind Robert. They were still ribbing each other despite how quickly they all did the course. Their times were all noted on the electric post. No other times on the course had come anywhere near close to theirs. It allowed the crowd to see just how strong their Alphas and ranked wolves were.

It was amusing to see my mate's name at the top of the board. No one would ever be able to pass his time. I knew that if he wanted to run it again, he could shave even more time off. I was incredibly proud of him. I could see everyone paring up and hugging their mates for the excellent job they did. Everything was fine until I heard a voice from the crowd calling out to my mother. Whoever she was, she was very loud and very angry. I turned around to see a lady I didn't recognize screaming at my mother. She needed to stop, as I wasn't going to allow her to continue to speak lies like that about my mother.
