Betrayed by My Pack – Wolfless Hybrids Escape -
Chapter 77 –
Luna's POV Monday Afternoon
I have been here at Black Moon Pack for a week and a half now, and I like it here. I love being with Kevin. I but hadn't realized how badly I missed my sisters until we left Black Adder. I was so happy for Brenna to be pregnant. I could tell how happy she and Jaxon were together. I was also happy that Cara had found and accepted her mate. Despite his being a vampire, he seems like a good man. It is just hard getting past so many ingrained teachings that we had about vampires.
I have learned a lot about vampires while I have been here. Trevor had told me about his pack, Blood Tracker, being attacked several years ago when he was much younger. "Attention! This chapter belongs to obb.. If you're seeing this elsewhere, you've found a copycat. For fresh, authentic content, come to obb. directly. We appreciate your support and know our true fans will enjoy the original content with us." He said that Cheryl had been married to Blake at the time when her current husband, Anton, came with the team to help them when a team of rouge vampires was attacking Blood Tracker. We had learned that vampires were dangerous and deadly. They were basically killing machines. I saw how calm and loving Alexei was towards Cara and started changing my mind about them. He absolutely loved her, and he wanted everyone to know it.
He reminded me of Kevin, who also loved showing others how much he loved and cared for me. I had been learning how to be a Luna from Trevor's stepmother, Melody. She was the daughter of an Alpha, and she had learned how to perform the Luna duties, as that was how she was raised. Aaron was happy to get a second chance, mate, and they got pregnant quickly.
Trevor and his siblings have very young half-siblings. Daniel is two years old, and his sister, Morgan, will be a year and a half in a little over a month. Aaron retired because he wanted to spend time with his babies and Melody. Aaron still lives in Blood Tracker with his new family and spends time with his older children. He is a good father, and he makes sure that each one of his children knows just how much he loves them.
I had always trained, but not to become Luna. My training was primarily fighting. My parents never expected me to become a Luna. My name was kind of an inside joke in our family. They loved me and told me that I was important to them. So, they named me Luna. They always asked, who is more important in the pack than the Luna? They always joked that if I ever became a Luna, my mate needed to have a sense of humor about the whole thing. Kevin actually did replace it funny and calls me Luna squared, as a private joke between us. Everyone just calls me Luna, and ninety-nine percent of the time, it is used respectfully as my title.
The remaining one percent is usually from a snotty group of girls here. Ones who were heartbroken that Kevin had found his true mate. I don't blame them for being upset. Kevin is the most attractive man that I have ever seen in my life. He is a big guy, very broad, across his chest, with a slim waist and large biceps. His v-cut looked like he could actually cut somebody with it. He got his blonde hair and blue eyes from his mother. I could stare into those beautiful blue eyes of his all day long. I could understand why they were so upset he was off the market. Kevin was a little worried about me being alone here. I only really knew him and Casey. He has to work in his office today, and Casey stayed behind at Black Adder. She missed her parents, as Blake was still at Black Adder with his new wife Kira and their children. Casey went to the celebration dinner and then disappeared to hang out with her friends. She knew that Kevin and my sisters would take care of me. Once we returned here, I was reminded of her being my only friend.
Kevin also worried as he knew that despite the no-bullying policy, it still happened. He had been bullied pretty badly when he was younger, even though bullying was frowned upon. He had told me what happened, and it was incredibly unfair. I am glad that they dealt with it. If they hadn't, I would have dealt with it myself when I arrived. That was where I excelled. People see me with my smile and happy attitude and assume I'm a pushover. They would be wrong.
Brenna is known to be the best fighter between us, but I have taken Brenna down several times before. When I let my anger take over, my wolf, Yuri, can deal with anyone. She can even fight an Alpha male for a few minutes. My father trained Brenna and me very well. He never allowed others to know just how good of a fighter either one of us was. He wanted us to replace our mates and leave the Kamiria pack.
Dad had liked Alpha Hugo, Paxton's father, but he detested Paxton. Dad swore that Paxton and Lisa would be the downfall of our pack. We had all silently agreed with him, as it was treason to speak out against the Alpha couple. We could see that they would destroy the pack. Lisa cared for nothing and no one except Paxton and spending money. Anyone could see that Paxton had an obsession with Cara; even Lisa saw it. That was the reason that Lisa hated Cara so much.
It was a good thing that I was a good fighter because Kevin was the guy that all the girls wanted. The trauma that Kevin had gone through had stayed with him; it was severe. He maintains a strict no-bullying policy in the pack. The she-wolves are not obvious about it; they were just really passive-aggressive. I was not a fan of several of them, but most had settled down once Kevin did the town hall meeting to officially announce me. His sister Casey was the one who stayed with me when I needed to go train. They were both with me for all of my meals. I was heading to the afternoon training, and I already knew that something would happen. Casey usually spars with me, but since she is gone, I am sure that today is the day that one of them will show her true colors, all under the guise of sparring. I am up for it, as it won't be me who gets to learn the lesson today. In human or wolf form, no one here other than Kevin can take me out. They train, but not as hard as I did in Kamaria.
I have already spoken to Kevin about this. I told him that he needed to beef up the training. I don't want our pack to get caught unaware. I think that they depend on the fact that Trevor is less than a half hour away, less if they come through the emergency opening between our packs. There are guards on both sides of the wall, but in case of emergency, they allow either of our packs to enter the other's territory. They shouldn't depend on that. I have warned both Kevin and Trevor before. It could result in the other pack being attacked while their warriors are over at the other pack.
They seemed surprised when I mentioned it to them, but I just shrugged it off. I have a very analytical mind. I like to work through potential problems before they actually become problems. Kevin kissed me and called me "Brilliant." Trevor conceded that I was correct. They had originally thought it was a good plan that would help them to protect both packs. After I mentioned the issue to them, they saw where it left the second pack helpless in case a second attack occurred.
I approached Beta Liam, who was overseeing the training. I wanted to see how things were going. I usually train in the morning session, as that was just a habit of mine. I felt like it got my blood pumping and got me ready to face the day. Jaxon is Beta Liam's and Beta Dexter's older brother. They had gone to celebrate with us and visit with their family. Beta Liam runs the afternoon training with Gamma Andrew. Delta David walks around to check on people's forms and help those who need extra assistance.
I already knew who was staring holes through me: Kylie Lennon. She was a pretty strong warrior and had truly wanted to be Kevin's mate. Even after she knew they were not mates, she still kept after him. She even went as far as to suggest that she would be happy with being his chosen mate. She might, but Kevin wouldn't. He wanted his true mate. She didn't take the last rejection well. Let's just say that my arrival here has not brought her any joy. She had been trying to get her hands on me the whole time I have been here; I guess today is the day. I watched as her eyes narrowed as she glared at me. She then swiftly moved forward to confront one of the she-wolves who was not doing a takedown move properly. Instead of just telling her how to correct it, she embarrassed the poor girl in front of everyone. I knew exactly what she was going to do.
"Luna, would you mind helping me show her how this is supposed to be done?" Kylie asked innocently. She thought I would not be able to turn her down in front of this group. I would have if I were not positive that Kylie needed a reminder of who I am. I am not scared of her, and I have some time to kill.
"Of course, it would be my pleasure to help our pack members learn how to defend themselves from an aggressor," I replied with a smile.
"Pick someone else, Kylie," Liam ground out angrily as he stepped forward to block me from Jylie's view. He knew what she was doing, and he wouldn't allow her to hurt me. He knew that Kevin would be pissed off about it. They all knew how much Kylie wanted to be his Luna. It was obvious that she had a bone to pick with me. I am going to allow her to try, but I am not going to let her look good.
"We sure won't," my wolf Yuri growled out. I smiled at how pissed off she was. Kylie was not a threat to us. Kevin only had eyes for me.
"It is OK, Liam. I am nothing if not a defender of my pack. I want them to learn how to protect not just themselves, but everyone here effectively. The stronger we are, the safer our pack is from an attack. I would be remiss if I didn't step in and show this young woman how it is done," I responded to Liam.Everyone here thought that I was just trying to help this young she-wolf learn, but she was not my target. If I don't show Kylie that I am not intimidated by her, she will never stop. It is best that Kylie learns a life lesson today. One shouldn't assume someone is weak just because they are kind. If Casey were here, I would have her film it. Instead, I winked at Liam as I walked past him. I was headed to where Kylie stood in front of all the warriors out here training. Liam followed me, as I knew that he would end it if she went too far. They, along with Kylie, will soon learn who this lesson was really for, and I am sure she won't be happy about it.
