The moment Debbie ended the call with Hailey, She packed her bags, cleared her table, and exited her office. Her office was really close to the city center which wasn't too far from Ollie and Enzo's school. She got there in no time, parked the car, got down, and made her way to the twins' class.

The two little boys were seated on the closest chair to the door. They already had their backpacks on, with their eyes fixed at the door, anticipating Cole Matthis, their father.

"Aunt Debbie?" Enzo voiced out confused when he saw his godmother instead of his Daddy who they were waiting for.

Enzo and Ollie reluctantly got off the chair and made their way towards the door, where Debbie was.

Debbie saw how grumpy the kids were. She let out a sad smile, crouched to their heights, and pulled her favorite little boys into a joint hug. She kissed them both on their cheeks. Usually, they would return the kiss but today was an exception.

"Where's Daddy? Is he waiting in the car?" Ollie asked, standing on his tippy toes, looking above Debbie's shoulders, his eyes searching for Cole.

"Yes, let him come in. I want him to meet my friends." Enzo's sad voice came through.

Tiana, the class teacher, saw them. She smiled and approached them.

"Good day ma'am," She said to Debbie.

Debbie looked up and responded with a polite smile.

Tiana crouched to the twins' height, joining their small circle.

"They've been so excited to go home. They said their Dad was coming to pick them up and couldn't wait for him to meet me."

"Yes, he's meant to but he had to attend to something important."

"Oh, I see," Tiana answered, then faced the boys. "Don't be sad sweethearts. I am sure Daddy has a good reason why he isn't here. I know he is going to make it up to you all."

Ollie and Enzo didn't react to their teacher's words.

"Thank you," Debbie said to Tiana.

"You are welcome." Tiana smiled. She rose to her feet and left to attend to other children.

Enzo had tears in his eyes.

Debbie brought her hand to his chubby cheek and caressed it. "We spoke to him this morning. He promised he was going to be here."

"Yes. He promised." Ollie added. He wasn't crying but he looked really sad.

"Yes, he did but something came up and he couldn't make it. That is why I am here to pick you both." Debbie explained but the twins said nothing and neither did they react to her statement. "Are you both mad at Daddy?"

The boys nodded.

"You don't have to be. Like I said he is going to make it up to you both."

"Is he going to come tonight?" Ollie asked with a hopeful voice.

"I don't know yet but if you don't see him tonight, then you should see him tomorrow. I promise." Debbie brought her right palm up, sealing her promise.

Ollie nodded slowly but that wasn't the case for Enzo. He burst into tears.

"I want Daddy."

"Oh, my love. Please don't cry. You will see Daddy soon." Debbie wiped tears away from his face with her thumb. She kissed his eyes and pulled him into a hug. They stayed like that for a while until Enzo pulled away, cleaning his face with the back of his palm.

"Don't be sad, Enzo. Daddy will not like to see you sad. I trust Aunt Debbie. Daddy will come to see us soon, Okay?" Ollie assured his brother who nodded slowly. Then he initiated a hug with Enzo. Debbie smiled as she watched the two little boys. She was grateful for their brotherly bond and had hoped that Hailey had Cole sort things out today so they could be with their kids at night. "Fucking Vanessa!" Debbie cursed under her breath.

"I love you both so much." She pulled her godsons into a joint hug and kissed them on their foreheads.

"Do you want us to go to the movies? The park? We can go out for late lunch or do ice cream dates. We can also visit the arcade for games if you want?" Debbie suggested.

She saw both boys starting to smile and that made her day.

Jessica rushed into the Police station. She showed her ID and introduced herself as Cole's lawyer. An officer answered her and led her to a room, a really small room. It was just an empty room with three chairs and a table.

Jess entered and rushed towards Cole. He stood up and they shared a hug.

The officer excused himself, quietly shutting the door behind him.

"Thank God you are here. I was already getting worried." Cole said after they pulled away from the hug. He looked really stressed, his hair was messy and the first three buttons of his shirt were loose. "Sorry I took so long but I am here now. Did they touch you? Did they hurt you?" Jessica said, inspecting his body.

"No, they didn't. I feel like I don't understand myself anymore. I mean, I don't know what I did to Vanessa that she inflicted so much pain on me. I used to be quite troublesome when growing up but I never had an issue that warranted the cops to arrest and have me in their custody."

"It was insane when we got here. Paparazzi were all over. They had to put me in this room for peace's sake. I've been here for the past hour with my thoughts. I was almost going crazy."

"I'm so sorry about that."

"I felt really helpless. Knowing I would rather be with my boys and having a good time with them. They must be so disappointed in me."

"No, don't say that. You didn't put yourself in this situation. Hopefully, we will get this sorted soon and you will be able to get back with your family."

"Were you able to reach out to Hailey? She must be so disappointed in me." He stared at Jessica intently.

"I spoke with her. She knew already."

"She wants nothing to do with me, right?"

"Why would you say so?"

"Because this is so embarrassing. I mean the whole world knows about this. They think of me as a vile man, someone who beats up a pregnant woman. I can't believe Vanessa made me a monster before the whole world."

"It doesn't matter what the world thinks. The woman that you love most trusts you."

"What?" Cole asked, confused.

"She's really possessive about you. Aren't you one hell of a lucky bastard?" She smiled.

"What do you mean? Are you sure you spoke to the right person?"

Jessica nodded, smiling. "She called you sweet names that got me teary."

"I know you are tense but Hailey isn't mad at you. She sent her best friend to pick the kids. She will join us soon."

"You are not cooking up stories to make me feel better, right?"
