Vanessa burst into loud tears the moment Hailey took her leave.
"It's okay, She's gone. Let's get you all cleaned up " Connie said, holding Vanessa's arm, trying to lift her up. But Vanessa refused to move an inch.
"Come on Eric, don't just stand there. Come help me out." Connie said to her husband.
Eric shook his head. He took closer steps to where both mother and daughter were on the floor, staring at Vanessa in disgust. "So you killed Hailey's child?"
"You need therapy, Eric. Why would you believe everything that brat says over your own daughter? Have some dignity!!!!" Connie attacked.
"Coming from someone who steals from me and from my company? You are too brave to be talking about dignity. Don't you think so?"
"We didn't steal any money?"
"Oh really?"
"We took it. We didn't steal it. After all your money is our money and we've got every right to it."
Eric mumbled, massaging his temple, not believing this was his new reality. "Took it? Can you hear yourselves out? So you both were trying to leave me once the company eventually collapsed?" "That's my problem with you, you believe everything that bastard child says without waiting for a proper explanation from me!"
"I was saving up the money for us and for our benefits. Of course, we wouldn't go to Mexico without you! We were planning on getting you a flight ticket too. But fortunately, Hailey came back from her death and revived the company."
"Can you listen to yourself, Connie? Of course, you don't need me to explain to you that taking what doesn't belong to you without the permission of the owner is called THEFT. You didn't just take something little. You took a really huge sum!"
Connie rolled her eyes at her husband.
Eric turned his attention to his daughter. "You told me Hailey purposely slept with Cole just so you wouldn't get married to him. You watched me disown my first daughter! How evil can you be?" Eric said at the top of his voice, trying to hold back tears. He couldn't believe he ruined his life himself just because he was too blind to see the truth in his first daughter.
"I turned my back against the world for you both and this is how you both pay me back?"
"Well, if you had loved my child equally as much as you loved your daughter, then maybe this would not have happened," Connie explained.
"You think I never loved them equally? If there is any child that I have been unfair to then it is Hailey. I kicked her out of this house over a lie, I disowned her, cut her off her allowances, and gave Vanessa Hailey's share of allowance. What more do you both want from me?"
"What have I done to deserve this humiliation from you both?"
"I don't know why you all hated Hailey all along, making her look like a bad person when she has done nothing to hurt you all."
"And Vanessa, you tried to kill your own sister? As if killing a baby in the past isn't enough? How do you sleep at night knowing you've done something this disheartening to someone you share the same blood with?"
"Come on Eric, even if Vanessa is guilty of all other things to just a little extent. How can you believe she is capable of murder? She literally can't stand the sight of blood and you expect her to be capable of thinking murder? You disappoint me in so many ways. Would it hurt if you had some little trust in your daughter?"
"Hailey Hailey Hailey. Can you all just shut the fuck up!" Vanessa said at the top of her voice, wiping her tears with the back of her palm.
"Enough of that name around me. She always acts like she is perfect and I don't regret everything I did to her."
"I thought your mom was defending you just now? So you had something to do with her death? And all the other things she spoke of?"
"Why do you care? Does it matter to you? Would you believe me if I told you that I am not guilty? You might as well think whatever you want." Vanessa spat at her father.
"I don't know why you've got so much bitterness in your heart. If it's your mother influencing you, then I suggest you do away with such a habit. You make it seem like I don't care about you when in reality I really do. Because of you, I disowned my flesh. Something I know I would rot in hell for and there you are, accusing me of not loving you enough. Now who is the bitchy and ungrateful one?"
"You've been doing evil to your sister for as long as God knows when. What do you have to show for all your evil efforts? A child who you don't even know its father? Don't you believe in karma?"
"Ignore your father. Get up and Let's get you cleaned up." Connie said to Vanessa, helping her stand to her feet and this time, She obeyed her mother.
"You've got 11 hours and 30 minutes left."
Connie stared at Eric in disbelief. "Why are you behaving so differently today? You are really going to join Hailey in threatening our daughter?"
"I've lost one daughter already, you want me to lose my close friend too? What the hell do you think people would say about me too?"
"If you are angry at Hailey, then face her squarely. What does Cole have to do with it?"
"He almost killed me! Don't talk like a hypocrite. You were there. You saw everything!" Vanessa said to her father.
"He did that because you provoked him. You claim you love him and even though you are being sincere, you think he is going to love you the most when he comes out of jail? Like what the hell were you even thinking when you came up with all of these plans?"
An image that Cole has created for years. You didn't think twice before you ruined him and everything that he has worked for."
"So you want her to actually go take back her statement so they can jail her?" Connie interfered. "For God's sake Eric, can't you support your daughter for once? She's pregnant!"
"What now? Her pregnancy led her to do silly things. She did something unforgivable. She should pay dearly for it."
"I'm not going to retract my statement and I've got no apology to tender to anyone." Vanessa stood her ground.
"You know it's gonna be worse if Hailey tenders all her evidence against you."
"Hailey got nothing. She was just threatening me." Vanessa answered confidently.
"Of course, you are a grown woman. You know what's good for you. But this is me reminding you that I won't be there for you when the police come to get you." Eric said, then stormed out of their sight. "Why is Dad so against me? Why does he never support me? I did this because I felt it was the right thing to do. I had no idea it would go this viral or bring so much shame to Cole."
"The whole plan was for him to get arrested and within the first two hours, his Dad will be here or Cole will request to see me. Then I'll agree to withdraw the case if he marries me. He will sign a contract. The marriage contract is in my room."
"I didn't think it would be this bad, trust me, Mom." Vanessa's eyes start to Water.
"I know, baby. So what are you going to do now?" Connie stared at her daughter intently.
"Okay, seems like these two won't be stopping any time soon. What do you say if we give them some space?" Jessica giggled, saying to Moore who had a proud smile on his face.
"Sure, sure!" Moore said, leading the way out, giving the two love birds the privacy they wanted.
